It's weird how history repeats itself. You got The Rams and their historic offensive season. Then The Rams had beaten the Pats that year in the regular season, Warner also won MVP. The Rams lost to a team that wasn't expected to win by any means. The 2007 Patriots were coming off of a historic offensive season, Brady won MVP, Pats won against the Giants in the regular, but lost to that same Giants team that was not expected to win.
@MichaelMurphy-kj3xf

Don't forget this season. Falcons scored 540 points (7th best in NFL history); Matt Ryan wins MVP; lose SB.
@CoDWiiPS3Gameplay

Chase Whitfield Historic offenses almost never win it all. They almost always get exposed by ever-tougher defenses as the playoffs progress. '98 Vikings, '01 Rams, '05 Colts, '07 Pats, '11 Packers, '13 Broncos, '16 Falcons, just to name a few.
@ShengYu1995
@ShengYu1995 7 лет назад
The 49ers of the 80s won it all 4 times with their historic offense...they were always ranked #1 or #2 in offense in the years they won the superbowl except the win in 1988 And I wouldn't call the 16 Falcons historic, they were just a 11-5 team in the super bowl... the 84 Dolphins were more historic with Marino throwing 48 TDs or the 80 Chargers
@MichaelMurphy-kj3xf
@MichaelMurphy-kj3xf 7 лет назад
Damn - the 49er defense was every bit as good as their offense.
@ShengYu1995
@ShengYu1995 7 лет назад
Yeah, the 49ers defense was every bit as good... but it was the offense that won the Super Bowl in the 1984 season with 38-16, and the 1989 season with 55-10...

"the kicker won it for them" is the reason why Marshall Faulk and those who do not give enough credit to special teams lose all the time. Bellicheck loves his special teams, in fact its the only topic in any interviews where he can answer without any hint of sarcasm.

The way the Rams offense was getting its head out of the bottom hole in the fourth quarter, there's no way the Patriots could allow that to go into overtime. If Vinatieri misses that field goal, the Rams win for sure. In the fourth quarter the Patriots defense couldn't do anything to the Rams offense which had adjusted to their strategy
@tonyhutchins6258
@tonyhutchins6258 7 лет назад
Teams like the Rams are proof that Brady is the Goat. Teams can have legendary runs of 3-5 years but Brady has been doing it since this game... Just think how long it's been since kurt warner was their quarterback. The longevity is incredible
@yetz2291
@yetz2291 4 года назад
Brady did next to nothing in this game up till the end. He passed for 145 yards and a TD, generating 13 offensive points. Meanwhile, the Patriots defense held the Rams to just 17 points after they had scored 34 per game up till that point. If you said teams like the Seahawks, I could see your point, but this is a bad example if you want to see Brady play a great game against a great team.

It's still the only superbowl in NFL history when a team scored on the last play of regulation. To be honest as a pats fan, for that game I thought either 2 things were going to happen: that the pats were going to win a close game or that the rams were going to blow us out. Thank God it was the former and not the latter. lol
