I had no idea how to pull seeds from marigolds. I have the most beautiful marigolds in my flower box so now I will pull the seeds thanks to you and plant for next year!
The wreath you made a year ago has retained its colour brilliantly. I’m going to grow marigolds next year just so I can make one of these, great tutorial!
What a lovely wreath! I save my marigold seeds every year and end up with more than I can plant! I also garden in southeast Michigan and sadly the chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits treat my tulip bulbs and flowers like a salad bar, so I don’t plant them mI planted a ton of daffodils and allium. I got them from Costco but I’m waiting on an order for the Martha Stewart daffodil. Thanks for sharing!
Sue the behind your shoulder shot in the beginning is just so pretty. Such a fan of your garden! I don't think I'm going to do any more bulbs for now. I only have daffodil bulbs & the last few years I planted a TON to make sure we got the yellow show we were after. I may have to plant (or divide) more in the future, since the squirrels (??) are digging some of them up! Grrrrrrrrr
Nice to see you again! Yes, it’s seed collecting time again already. Seems this year I was inside more than out because of rain, heat and mosquitoes. I never tested my zinnia seeds to see if they crossed as I just have a mix of original zinnias. We finally got rain🎉 5.88”. It’s been so dry and Hot in WI-last drops of rain was August 30th. I grew the Alaska marigolds this year and they start white, but turn yellow. Neighbor asked why I planted all those flowers-😅I didn’t, the orange marigolds just replant themselves-I let them be and they are really shining everywhere now. Oh wow, the wreath looks great after a year! How did your boxwoods do? Were you able to save them? Ugh! I was planting perennials yesterday and dug into my spring bulbs! 😲😭. The problem I’m having is there are annuals and glads where I wanted the perennials. I knew I was close and I guess I was! I’m doing everything backwards and having a difficult time. I don’t have the hardscaping in as there are some reclaimed stone/brick that my husband will hopefully be getting. I think I might just need to go buy it. The other thing is a better larger fenced in area as the wildlife will destroy everything if it’s not in place. And yet Another thing is all the utilities run nearby-I definitely have the gas line marked. I struggle with this side of the house as with a metal roof I can’t plant under the roof overhanging as the snow would flatten plants so I’m trying to create a statue garden sitting area away from the house a bit. There is so much that will need to be moved for sitting area and I should have known the bulbs were there 🤦♀️. It’s a work in progress for sure. I had the ice cream scoop tulip, but only a leaf came up this year and might need to replace it. The frilly flowered bulbs came up and they were nice surprise. Would like some more fragrant hyacinths and alliums. Oh, I’m attracted to the colored center daffodils like your mom. The tuff thing is remembering where those bulbs are 🙄.
For whatever reason I only purchased fall crocus and colchicum bulbs this Spring. Maybe I thought we had enough of a spring show when I was making my order. So I’m going to have immediate gratification and the fun of watching the neighborhood dog walkers looking confused when they see what they think are giant crocus and little crocus flowers out of season in my garden.
Hi Sue, in your opening remarks what are the two golden small shrubs behind and on either side of you ? I know I have seen them many times in gardens and of course now that I would like one I can not remember the name ! 😊
