Two books I recommend that have helped me are both written by Cal Newport: "Deep Work" and "Slow Productivity." Deep Work is about focusing on work that is important to us. Slow productivity is how to be productive as a human being instead of a robot. :)

It been so lonely and scary path so far for me. I am an artist i love to do art but i have graphic degree. Right now i am 24s, unemployed and just so so lost😢 I trying to build art business now and hope something works. Thank you for your video by the way i love it all❤
This was really helpful! Gonna get some of these audiobooks. I think the thing I struggle with sometimes is looking at my art “as a product” I like trying different styles and I work in different mediums. But I know this makes it harder to market. At the same time, the whole point to me of having a creative career is to pursue my curiosity and explore.

I recommend "Million Dollar Weekend" by Noah Kagan to be super helpful and it actually has a decent overall tone with actionable goals. As a creative person, it's a bit rough reading business books because the tone in most business books is extremely arrogant to put it kindly aside from the icky vibes...haha. I try to remind myself to focus on the learnings and ignore the tone as much as possible.
Been playing with the idea of Print on Demand, however I'm not sure though if it'll be much of a profitable way of making income. I feel a lot goes to the company who does the printing and shipping etc. I'd like to really do commissions of pet portraits. But, AI makes this difficult as it is sooooo much cheaper to use some sort of AI service and pay maybe $50 for a pet portrait vs a traditional artist who puts in the time and material who charges $150 (depending on size, but it's an average). Been thinking of starting a website so I can display my work as a portfolio, have a write up about myself as an artist and human being and connect a webshop to it. But...that requires monthly payments that I don't have as well....nothing is happening business wise and no money is coming in (yet). Sure, I can get a loan...but how long until I break even?? I'm a single mom of 4 and I can't just pull funds from supporting my kids...they still need to eat, lol. Currently working on my mindset though...if I dont' believe I can pull it off, it simply won't happen. So...that's where my focus is for now...manifesting, decreeing, calling things forth, praying. Meanwhile I keep creating and painting whilst making videos so I can monetize my channel. Baby steps....
Also gonna add- it's a very common fear! Im trying to overcome that as well, but I will say taking a creative class that forced me to have a product at the end (and related tangently to what I want to create) was really helpful. It gave me a supportive teacher and classmates, and environment to connect with a community, and a product at the end to prove that I could put in the work/ build some of the skillsets I need. It's always the simplest advice, but you just gotta do it!
Yea same here thats something I struggle with on a daily basis :s it sucks! lol I'm still learning how to overcome it tthough. I'm working on a strategy rn and i feel like, If i have clarity on WHO im creating my art for and what problems im solving for them, then i wont OVERTHINK as much and care too much about what anyone else thinks because if i know that im creating something thats solving my markets problems, I can roll with that. We create scenarios in our heads that isnt even true. I internalise a lot of shit and 99% of the time, theres no evidence to prove that its true 🤣SO it makes me feel stupid after i lay all my cards on the table and see that these scenarios are just made up in my head by overthinking shit. So try and be king to yourself. I know its hard.. but see what happens anyway after you create your art. See what happens after you upload your art online, after that, repeat the same cycle. Ask yourself the same question, Wheres the evidence for these scenarios you created in your head. Take a deep breath, shake it off and move on to creating the next thing. You've got this girl! Maybe bring some prints or stickers in a bag with you everywhere you go, and if anybody approaches you for any reason whatsoever (besides something really urgent I suppose), you could ask “Would you like to buy this sticker/print? It’s just *x small amount of money*.” After you can do it in real life, having that same bravery on the internet won’t be so intimidating. It could also be a great conversation starter if you want to approach someone else?
Took me about 5 years to figure that out lol im still on my way to building my digital art business 🤣🫣 I had to figure out what i was really passionate about because i kept jumping from one thing to another and that confused me and that confuses the market or industry you want to market your art to. So get clarity and figure out what youre passionate about creating or doing, figure out what industry and audience you want to market your art work to and create content and products that solve their problems.
