How To Master The Art of Freestyle Rap In 2 Weeks Or Less: htr.freestylef...
In today's video we describe how to become a rapper by describing what you should NOT do... these are three things that will not only teach you how to rap better, but will set you up successfully to make it as a rapper in 2020. The skill of rapping is something we believe everybody can do if they learn how to rap in the proper context, which is one of the main goals of this channel. Enjoy!
--
In today’s article, we’ll break down three key things that you’ll need to give up to become a rapper.
As somebody who has not only performed in over 15 countries just from my rapping alone, but also has personally coached over 1,000 rappers over the course of the last six years…
I hope that this article will not only serve to guide AWAY from habits that might hurt your chances at becoming a rapper…
…But also will help to inspire you to keep going if you’ve started and already removed these things from your life.
FULL ARTICLE HERE: rapgamenow.com...
1) Rapping Weekly (As Opposed To Rapping Daily)
What I mean here is that you should be rapping a little bit every single day as opposed to what most rappers do…
…Which is “fit rap into their schedule”.
The big mindset shift I want you to take after watching this video is that “rapping” and practice “rapping” does not always have to take the form of “sitting down undisturbed to write a full song of rap”.
There are many different wordplay drills and punchline games you can play even while doing other things.
One of my favorite games to play to practice rap even when I have a tight schedule is what I like to call “The Rhyme Game”.
The Rhyme Game
The Rhyme Game is where you see something in front of you… and without worrying about a beat or “sounding dope”… you list four or five things that rhyme with it OUT LOUD.
The only real rules are you have to push yourself to think quickly so that you are practicing thinking of rhymes faster than normal…
Try to have the rhymes connected in some sort of understandable sentence…
…AND you have to say it out loud so that you are practicing DELIVERING rhymes as opposed to just thinking them.
This game is often best practiced WITH other people because then when you run out of rhymes, they can pick up where you left of and they might present some rhymes you didn’t even THINK of…
…Which can help you remember more and more original rhymes with the help of others…
But it’s a game that you can do on your own while working on other things or even just cleaning up your rhyme.
So, as a quick example…
Let’s say you are cleaning up your rhyme and you see a basketball laying in the corner.
You start the Rhyme Game by saying “basketball” out loud.
After you’ve said “basketball”… think quickly of words that rhyme with it.

@HamishGrant
@HamishGrant 4 года назад
A massive tip that I like to use is freestyling to the beat you’re gonna use, even if it’s all mumbles and you’re looking for a melody for hook and verses then that’s the best way to go about things. Just mumble melodies, it doesn’t have to be a proper freestyle but just mumble those melodies
@HowToRapOfficial

I should point out, depending on how famous you want to be, chorus’ are dependant on your given style. I listen to a lot of lesser known artists who rarely use or even need a chorus.
@WillMellow
@WillMellow 4 года назад
Great video my dude! I’m definitely gonna put the chorus practice into my daily routine. You’re right about practicing everyday and not worrying about writing a whole song or doing it to a beat. Any word game app will strengthen the muscle you use for writing rhymes. Whether it’s apps that build up your vocabulary or help you with word association, anything dealing with words will benefit your songwriting. If rapping was a weapon, the words will be the ammunition. Keep creating!

Instead of focusing on thinking of rhymes, its important for a rapper to have a message behind what they're saying. Then make that message or idea rhyme. As a rapper, your music is your voice. If you can cleaverly and poetically put a message in your song while making it simultaneously entertaining, I believe that is important to songmaking.

Great challenges! I've been steady on the grind for about a year now. It helped me sober up and stay sober, plus I balanced my mental health by writing lyrics or practicing freestyle every day. On days where I can't write original lyrics, I just cover some of my favorite songs. Now I've been to about a dozen open mics in my home country (Netherlands) and once in Spain... The first thing I had to give up was actually none of these things... First I had to learn to have fun with it, and then it became my favorite hobby that I am automatically investing time and energy in

i aim more to be a songwriter because that’s where my best skills are as i can write any type of song doesn’t matter the genre, but where i am currently in life it’s extremely hard for me to get my work out there so recently i started recording my own music and i don’t know whether i’m ready to pursue a career in it. but i do know i am talented and music is something i love, anything is possible

also keep in mind only about 5 of my 15 songs are not totally cringe and awful. so ignore all the garbage on my spotify because I sometimes put effort into it and other times I put zero effort in and simply pump the content out for the dollas only not for the entertainment of strangers who don't care and never will. if I got 15 songs and only 5 are good and then I take those 15 songs and re edit them over and over until ive turned it into 50 songs... just imagine how bad the songs wound up getting? lol.... pretty bad.

Another tip: when you go pro mix your damn songs through software! I learned this the hard way. My upcoming ep is my first one where I’ve hired some engineers as I don’t have a Mac haha. Anyways, I found it so annoying when people would hate on my lyrical songs cause they weren’t fully properly mixed.
