As you should be, there are a lot of big guys out there that know how to fight or are just bonified animals, and that old saying " the bigger they are the harder they fall" goes out the window Never underestimate anyone , any size. Never mind the what ifs.. if confronted either run or go into it full bore like your life depends on it
Everyone needs to learn some form of wrestling. Get comfortable with people grabbing you, attempting to take you down or being on top of you. Learning how to control someone without striking them is also a skill you should develop.
I'm very grateful for this video. The way you go for the peel makes sense, and could be very useful if the way I usually do fails. Combined with base and wrist releases, this is a powerful contribution to defending oneself.
In your case surely the easiest thing to do is angle the top of your head towards the sun, the reflection can then blind the attacker. I'm a fellow baldy so I can make jokes like that... 😁
Sticking that arm in there to create space between his head and your body is a technique we were taught in high school wrestling. IIRC, we used to avoid a single-leg takedown.
Unfortunately, in 99% of street fight attacks, you will NEVER get that close to your attacker. Most street attacks are done with punches and a tiny bit of shoving. Also, the person who attacks you will NOT be your size as Mark and his student are here. They will most likely be much BIGGER, STRONGER, FASTER, HEAVIER and YOUNGER (if you're say, over 50, or OLDER if you're say, 13, they'll be 19 or 20 and more developed. All Mark's teaching here is okay, but 99% of all street fights start at the STRIKING RANGE and then IF something goes wrong, then and only then do they devolve into the Grappling range. You're best of practicing your Striking (punches and kicks) skills, before you do grappling. Because you want to end this fight FAST and hopefully never go to the ground. Also, if you grapple, you will NOT see the attackers buddies come up and hit you from behind.
Very good information. I got caught into this situation once. I had done Krav Maga previous to that altercation but K.M. didn't cover this ground enough when getting in a tangle.
With all respect, grappling with a bigger, stronger opponent is a losing proposition. You need to move _fast_ and hit _hard_ ... Two best options: knees, throat. Targets of opportunity. A third, if you can get above and behind, choke hold. All with the intent to disable or subdue. Of course, all of this - be it the options I presented or the techniques demonstrated in this video - depends on your skill and experience. If you don't have it, get it. Pick a fighting style or martial art that appeals to you (mine was Togakure ryu Ninjutsu) and train up. If you _haven't_ had any training, the best way to overcome a bigger, stronger adversary is to *run faster* 😛
Very great video, can also see the interpretation of wing chun in there, but you can also see the movements of Tekki Shodan and Taikyoku Shodan as well especially when he used that low block on his thigh.
Y'all UK Martial Artists are "Hardcore!", and your Streetfighters are more "Savage!" Than USA Streetfighters since we have a weapons-based Culture in The States.
Even if you carry and train with a firearm, you should still train and carry a knife. Even if you carry and train with a knife, you should still train to fight with no weapons other than your mInd and body.
The supra-clavicular nerves rest on the sides of the neck near the corotids. They are not very fixed in position and are quite pain sensitive. 👍🧑⚕️ The vagus nerve rests underneath the trachea, is a much larger nerve root (not connected to the spinal cord), and 100% required for life. 🥷 Most other nerves in the body are not required for life. Good lessons here Doc, I always appreciate good technique 🥋
Take some Judo classes. It’s really good against larger, stronger and heavier people. It’s also wonderful for staying on your feet while putting them on the ground.
Like your style, I trained MMA on regular base I can confirm that I do all of those move and they work, very legit RU-vidr, but again you need to do more stress test not doing drill.
Big muscular guys tend to gas out really fast, they are slow and they don't train for stamina. UFC and MMA proved that the big ones usually lose against a smaller, trained fighter. See Varelans vs Ruas, Yarbrough vs Hackney, and many other matches.
@@slipperyjohnson7016 I have trouble fitting my arms in shirts smaller than XL and fight amateur boxers on a regular basis to help them train for Golden Gloves Most people don’t know how to fight, but the bigger guy has a tremendous advantage if we’re talking about two low skilled fighters. That’s one of the most basic rules right there my friend, do not fear your opponent, but do not underestimate your opponent
This is a very good video but I am confused as to who your target audience may be. If you are targeting martial artists then I firmly believe that learning or supplementing with a grappling art is mandatory. Judo owns the clinch and would dominate most of those positions shown. The time between grapple and hitting the ground is only a second or two. The first second is used regaining your balance leaving precious little time to find a position to strike before getting dumped on the ground. I am 35 years Hapkido and 10 years Judo. I still practice both. From my experience working as a bouncer on the weekends I feel confident that very few people can stand in the clinch with a Judoka.
Hi there folks! there is something on my mind for a few weeks and i'd like to get your advice: look, due to the way i dress (suit, tie and a hat like in the 40s), street toughs tend to mock me, but the funny thing is, as bullies, they only do it from an advantegous situation (being more people than me, from a driving car, etc). Well, since is not intelligent to start anything on the streets (u can never know what happens in a street fight), ive been thinking about telling them to come spar me at my boxing gym where it can be equalized (1vs1, no guns, etc) but i don't know if this can result in me getting in a bad street situation. What would you do? i know the smartest thing is walking away but im fed up of getting laughed at by strangers just because im for a different dressing style. I'll be reading you!
Walking away really is the best option. As long as nobody is threatening you physically there is no need to risk a violent altercation. Regarding what others might think of you: Sometimes a little bit of vanity might help keeping ones nerves together. The people mocking your style obviously do not have any kind of own taste in clothing so they resort to making fun of anything different to their brainless choice of peer pressure. They do not know anything about individual style. Consider them beneath you and not worthy of any time or attention. If you are in a mindset where their mockery can't affect you in any way anymore, they won't have any power over you.
They're just jealous because you got style and they can't afford it. The ladies love that. Loosers like that will always be haters. Don't let them fool you into climbing down to meet them.
Great video again, do you ever do video requests? There is a situation, similar to this vid, that I would be very interested in your opinion and video, how to break away..
One thing for sure if the guy is like the thumbnail you don't have to worry because they are very slow but be careful not to let him grab you you have to be smart and pick him apart.
I hope you're paying Nick a lot of money or buying him some good meals. You're almost beating him up just him being your demo man. Keep up the good work Nick.
Hi there, thanks again. Good video. One question. I am a black belt in Japanese Jiu Jitsu and Judo. When you say that grabbing hold of his head is never a good idea (with the hotel joke), I take it you mean unless you have a good hip throw? Like Koshi Guruma, right?
*(1st): Thanks for the very helpful vids!!! (2nd): 2:30 the forearm CAN SEVERE/DAMAGE severely the JUGULAR!!! SERIOUS RIP -ROLL the moment forearm contact with a attackers neckside!!!(Deadly).
Could you make a scenario on a bigger guy rushing towards you and stepping sideways to avoid the clash and deliver a side kick or punch in the throat or liver?
@@badcp455 Exactly what I want to find out. No need of all the training if it fails in real life. For slim guys fast with the legs, a kick/punch is better than grappling
his knees, nuts and eyes aint bigger or stronger. and that's where you should be attacking anyone, regardless of size or strength, basically, unless it's a kid or a small woman, no weapons.
Step one: Possess years of martial arts training, physical fitness, lightning fast reflexes, and be at least the height of your attacker. My apologies, I know this martial advice has merit and is applicable to some small portion of the global population. But, I feel the video should emphasize that it's not for women, small men, the disabled, the elderly, and the average person. My advice to the average person is to conceal carry a gun and pepper spray, learn the laws concerning self defense in your jurisdiction (which is necessary even for the application of unarmed self defense) and learn how to use both the gun and the pepper spray--unless doing so is unlawful in your jurisdiction. In that case, my advice is to move to a jurisdiction where those activities are not unlawful, if at all possible.
They need to make a video "what to do when a tweeked out meth head attacks you" I saw a guy get shot in his chest 3 times and it did not put him down. He took out 5 bouncers and ran off into traffic.
What I see is 200 chances that you could have taken a huge chomp out of anywhere on this guy during the various hugging stances and gotten this bigger guy to drop you and restart the fight.
Has this guy ever fought in the ring? What training does he have? Black Belt? What Degree? I don't take anybodys fight advice unless I can see them in a full contact sparring, fighting situation..
What if you have a child, elderly relative, your mother someone with a disability with you? Just say screw it and leave them?? Certainly not the warrior way……. I’m not saying going toe to toe is tactically smart either so one must look for a third alternative. Perhaps carrying a tactical pen and knowing how to use it? Or know how to use objects in your environment to evade and attack?
@@jasonrudolph491 Dude, who's talking about having someone with me? Of course I'll defend them if I have to and I'll run only if I'm alone. Why you guys are so extremists?
I would love to see this guy in a full speed sparring session with a uncooperative opponent Until then zero reason to believe anything he demonstrates Honestly as a life ling traditional martial artist and mma practioner for the ladt 15 years I don't put much stick in his teachings
...I wasn't me, it was Tim, White Rapper. He posted my above comment. ...But I hope you're well, and I'm gonna enjoy this window to watch your vid. I know it will be good. God Bless :) DBM. England.
I want to see you in an actual street fight....I would love to see all these moves in action....in realtime! PS: Dont take offense to this comment and get mad and think about coming after me because that would be a big mistake....because I watch Fight Science buddy!
I'm 5'5 and 160 lbs. I've never lost a fight, but that's a problem. Why? Because eventually I'm gonna end up dead or in jail. The best way to fight is to avoid the shit. I'm sorry to tell all you tough guys, but you're not hard. It's either be dead, be in prison, or just be humble. There's nothing else. You have to eat your pride. You're not that tough.
Mike Tyson fought and did boxing against dudes much larger than him with a reach advantage in his prime days and never lost a fight. It's all about the technique. I'm a 6'5" and 230ish pound guy and I remember 20 years ago when I was training with the police and military, there was this one guy like 5'8" who could get into my range and the majority of big & tall guys there no matter how much speed we used and reach to hold him back. Fortunately for me, this was training, had it been the real thing, dude could've snapped my arm like 4 times.
