Made 7 of these from DIY-Kits by now. Wanted a stereo strip for years, so I can record a live-mix with several channels via the ES-9, without external gear. So good for playing live! Just missing an Aux-Output. Thinking about the FX-send Patch, maybe I need a few more…
Fantastic! I love it when that happens, new ideas, things feeling fresh and new ways to patch it. Truth be told I like end of chain too, either for a whole larger patch, as a drum mix or just the back end VCA for a synth voice (a little EQ and subtle pan is nice there). But the distortion and FX routing are things I use it for a lot.
I picked up 2 on Reverb. I'm surprised people sell them used because I found it great for compact setups where you want modules that can serve a lot of purposes. And they are the only good CV panning modules I own. Plus they can be a crossfader, VCA, EQ, line in/out, etc. An instrument interface like Befaco's or Doepfer's plus the stereo strip is really great for guitar too, you can set the gain just right to conveniently control the overdrive-distortion with your guitar's volume knob.
I've not explored that much with the guitar, though I did with the bass a long way back. Bass into Befaco Instrument Interface then into this. There was loads of sculpting and it was easy to dial in. Thanks for the support.
love the stereo strip - i bought it originally to use as a panner via a foot pedal, but ive ended up using it just as much as a distortion and tremolo. love giving it hits of level distortion to accent surprise notes
This has always been a mainstry in my VCV patches (thanks Ben & Befaco!) and now that I've finally started my physical eurorack rig, it's been the first thing I've kept my eyes out for a little deal on. Already learned some new techniques & uses I didn't think of in VCV, so I want one (or two... to start) even MORE... Hard Sync!
Likewise it's a fantastic (bias obviously) to VCV rack and I love packing loads of them in to be everything from simple stereo VCAs, to FX routers and saturations etc. Thanks!
@@DivKid Yes, dude! Stereo Strip & rep's rexmix, or a MindMeld master mixer, or Stereo Strip straight before your recording module- ...or all of the above. And that's all extra handy in real life! ^(wallet)
well they would be so different I don't see the comparison. The HexMix has 6 mono input channels of EQ and is a mixer. This is a stereo channel with CV over pan and level. You'd need a mixing solution for the Stereo Strip (like the Output Bus we released recently) but you'd gain CV over level and pan on each channel and the option to line level input any channel too. Depends on what you're looking for. What appeals in each? Happy to discuss.
@@DivKidI looking for the ability to quickly mute and route. I have a few sequencers that I play with and I had an idea for hard techno dub. The hex looks like it would fit but it's so darn big, I might as well have an outboard deck. And thank you for these great videos, these help so much.
I been wanting 2 of these for a really really long time. I want one to go in and one to go out of the rack. I just ordered rails to build out a 9u rack that will have room for it.
that's audio rate modulation of the pan. It feels like your head is inside a ring mod in headphones. The pan CV attenuator lets you calm it down. Patch a VCO into the pan. You can try static pitches, or use two VCOs playing the same sequence an octave or so apart, that's really nice.
It's not that simple and would require more than 2hp and a circuit redesign. I did consider CV EQ circuits (Mutable Instruments Shelves for example is great) with the module but we wanted something more affordable and more set and forget than a sort of EQ modulation playground ... though I have ideas for the latter for something else.
Three things my patches are missing: a) creativity, b) originality, c) “that module, you know the one, DivKid did a video on it…” I probably do need a Stereo Strip though tbh!

Nice ideas as always Hey You are a genius selling modules. You makes me feel I can’t live without 4 or 6 of these stereo strip 😂 I think that’s the idea Expecting your next colab with Befaco … ;-) Thanks
Hard Sync! I still need a stereo strip at some point. Every time I happen to be ordering from Thonk the kits are gone. That said, I do a lot of this in the 3DVCA right now, there's just no EQ there.
Your module is OG distortion, before we made and sold things called distortion there was already distortion. Thanks for showing off the FX send. Been struggling with that using ES9 and midi and not loving the results. I’ll look if this will work for me in this capacity. Still waiting for the Divkid compressor side-chain in the same format. If you forgot, end chain with mix in and kick in and final mix out…sliders to adjust compressor. Better than Transit and still small. Ports on top.
thanks, appreciate it. Hope yogurt some good results with the ES9 and the MIDI side. I've really liked the ES-9 when I use it but it's not part of my everyday thing. I'm not currently working on a compressor, like the idea though.
This is a way better module than I expected. Partly because of the module itself, partly because of the knowledge of the person demoing it. I can see wanting to have multiple of these.
I think it's easy to think of just like a channel strip which is of course how its presented. So It's good to show various use cases as ultimately is was made to just be a really flexible tool for a system.
