Pilot Vlog 170. I fly the airlines to Nassau, Bahamas to pick up a Cessna Caravan 208 and fly it single pilot IFR back to St Louis. To clear customs we land at Fort Pierce Florida and due to thunderstorms land at Tallahassee and spend the night before flying the rest of the trip the next morning. ATC is included in the video.

Great cameras and editing. I think this is your best, Cap. Threading the needle through those clouds and the two storms on the horizon on the landing were so pretty. Good view of the leading edge slats on your outbound commercial flight. Altogether, a huge chunk of time in the air! Caravan seems sort of slow and steady compared with the Citation! Impressive storm clouds - huge rain shafts. Wise to stop over - not surprised you were tired! Glad you made it back OK Jim and beat the storms. Another great video - take care.

It did at one time. Stopped working, got snagged so the owner pulled it out. We use the machine for flying skydivers.

Thanks. The passengers I usually carry seldom have more than a couple of gym bag at the most. The two aft seats in back have a net that locks in place so that we can use that area if needed for bags,

The wife and I got a chuckle at your comments while filming that thermostat. 64° is pretty chilly! This nearly 200 year old house gets that way when the temp outside goes below 50°. 64° wouldn't work for my wife, either - she uses a heavy down blanket all summer long! She's shivering at 73°, hahaha! I'm the opposite - I'll sweat buckets. 😂 That was a bad place to build a sewage treatment plant! I guess that's an incentive to do everything RIGHT at that airport! 😁 Love the video, Captain! You come across as calm and relaxed - all perfect pilot qualities. 👍

Hey Captain, We have a full motion Caravan sim and I enjoy your cockpit video. Our sim is a RedBird with the G-1000. It will not slow down on an approach. I notice your prop and fuel levers are both forward and you carry some power into the flare. We can't do that. It's idle power with full flaps at 3 NM and still a job to get down to landing speed without floating 2,000 feet. What do you use as a checklist. We have none. What we have came off the internet. Have you heard of a checklist company called qREF.com? They have a Caravan checklist that I would like to buy. Keep up your great videos.

Excellent Video! Every time I see a "V" Tail Bonanza I always think of the crash in Clear Lake Iowa: Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. "The Big Bopper". It was at 16:14. Without seeing the registration # I'd say that the Bonanza was definitely from that time period, maybe a little more recent. The song Good Morning Star Shine was a number 3 hit in the USA in July of 1969. ☀️ (=

Didn’t know the Cessna Caravan has glass cockpit, last time I was flying over the Grand Canyon, the Cessna Caravan I was in was pretty old and has only analog gauges.

sorry captain, you and steveo need to come and visit my world as a fedex caravan pilot. what you showed me in this video, i pray for on my departure from CDC to LAS during the monsoon season. Typically i have six to eight T'storm's going up to 50,000' plus on my departure. I've seen on my route , over the last 20 years some of the most widest weather ever. How about a microburst, hitting the ground at 2,000' and curling around to 14,000'. I have been inspired by the both of you, to video some of my cool weather encounters. Kept up the good work. Hope to post some cool videos this summer, nothing like some lightning going down the side of airplane and along the top!!

Vance, Steveo had problems with the FAA flying for Watermaker and they made him take all his videos of those flights down. I wouldn't want to run afoul of the FAA, or FedEx for that matter.

Very cool video! I am just starting flight school next week, even though I am 36 yo. I already work as a freelance illustrator and art teacher, so I have found your advice to look for alternative sources of income quite interesting, specially in my age (also because I am marrying in 3 months). Anyway, to me this video is a teaser of the little adventures I could expect as a pilot, along with the incredible views and the constant strive for excellency in piloting.
