I'm from the Bahamas and no way that's typical for a runway. We complain about Rocksound runway all the time. I've seen some of the smoothest landings feel bad on that runway. It should be listed as unpaved.
"Typical for Bahamian standards I suppose". False statement. Nassau, but New Providence, Bahamas has well maintained runways, some just renewed, one 11,000ft. Good enough for Britishair 777, Delta, AA etc. etc, think it can handle your mini. You are giving the wrong impression and generalizing.
Not fair to generalize making it seem like all runways in The Bahamas are awful it's misleading. There are many nice smooth runways throughout the islands MYNN, MYGF, MYAM, MYEF, MYSM, MYIG, MYAT, MYAN, MYES etc.
I often wonder why people generalize so much when their limited knowledge of one site confines their experience to nothingness!! One bad runway and suddenly its the Bahamas, as if Florida or New York is representative of the entire USA! Pure BS!!
THE BRJ's Of Life half Bahamian and half Trini I have lived in both. I now reside in Florida. ha I know The Bahamas is 700 islands and cays it would be difficult and expensive to keep all the airports and runways in great condition. The out islands are bound to have not so great runways and facilities in general. i am sure Nassau and Grand Bahama are better maintained because they are high traffic airports with big jets coming in every day.
@@flightsimrolle8166 Flightsim Rolle. No, first of all I am far from ignorant. Ignorant depicts someone lacking knowledge. I don't lack knowledge in any aspect. I am a born Bahamian, I have two college degrees, including an MBA, and I am also a pilot. You do not know me, and no I could not and don't care where you are from. That's beside the point. What you need do is quit jumping to conclusion, like some internet hero and quit assuming you know a person, who you never met. Furthermore, dumbass , evident by your ignorant response, I use that analogy, because the population of the outer islands are minuscule compared to almost everywhere else. You should also know that a school bus don't have a population, but an occupancy capacity. Loosen up you panties mister man.
@@kddog88 so if you such a wise damn man why ridicule the place if you know about it? This what I don't understand if you can't do anything about it then shut tf up simple
@@flightsimrolle8166 Flightsim Rolle. First of all you need to know how to construct a proper sentence before you try to ridicule anyone. And of course you won't understand, simple minds normally don't. Second of all you don't know me, and I don't know you. So, keep it moving. And if you don't want to then you can surely kiss My a$s!
When I’m cooking a meal, I get slightly stressed as the 3 or 4 dishes are coming ready at the same time and I have to concentrate on coordinating it all to work out. These guys are accelerating down a runway with God knows how many variables to consider while they concentrate at the task at hand, AND tower radio traffic coming in simultaneously. I will never complain again if the pork chops are slightly overdone.
I was flying an MU-2 from Rockford Illinois to Canada way out on the West coast by Washington State and flying between two cloud layers I had that happen to me and it scared the crap out of me. Pitch black and then lights from the props.
I enjoyed so much your videos, tech tuesday and adventures during your trips... will be nice to have news from Francine and John 😉... thanks a lot for sharing your pilot life ! Hi from France.
Enjoy the videos. Have been hooked on flying since I was a kid. I’m 70 and still get jacked up. Like the semiconductor tours now. Excellent way to see some of the world!!!
I really thought you were going off the runway for a quick second when that camera rotated lol. Great video maybe we can get a tech Tuesday video on landing gear and how it absorbs all that shock.
I thought the title was a click-bait, but then I saw the bomb craters on the runway where you landed. Geez, that runway was really awful, probably built in the 15th century or so.
not bahamian standards....... just certain airports because of the type of weather we have year to year..... get to know some bahamian pilots and let them tell you about some places before you go there.... they could maybe give tips on how to deal with certain airports... flying in the bahamas will make you a better pilot though :)
North Eleuthera runway is just as bad. Was out there last year while ELH is undergoing major renovations. Hopefully includes repaving the run way there and rock sound. When Club med and another resort (not sure of name) closed some 30 years ago that whole area tourism went down the tubes. Sad to see. I hear a resort is planed for south Eleuthera and it would really help the area.
Ya made it all look routine Shaun. Nice guy that co pilot. I never get tired of watching you grease those landings. When you hit the dumps and thrust reversers I thought the plane was coming apart. Swinging back and forth on that cabin door we were🙃🤪
Company is called Allerion. Right now, there are hundreds of jet pilots out there with 5-10000 hours looking for jobs. They may have minimum standards, but the talent pool is so deep right now you're going to need at least 5000 hours, a type rating in the plane they want, and know someone in the company.
So maybe it's the camera angle but the Hawker cockpit looks very snug. In fact with the yoke by your knees, it looks a bit like you're sitting in a kddy-car or model.
You two are very professional and have excellent cockpit management skills. Always loved south Florida controllers. Some of the best in the world and amazingly helpful when things go south.
I've been a fan of your videos for the last 2 years and I just picked back and subscribed. Nice to see you picked up John's facial hairstyle now you're on the left seat. Fly safe and keep up the great videos!
I really like the way you run your cockpit Shawn. Very impressed. Thank you for sharing the start up to take off. Stay safe and keep the videos comin. Chip
New Subscriber and Armchair Pilot. Nice to see efficient duties between both pilots and a great first vlog for me to see. Maybe I will learn something from your videos. Stay safe guy's!!
this maybe hard todo but can you run through that check you did right before takeoff in a tech tuesday, might be cool to see! - love the content, living that corporate pilot life down here in NZ.
Great Video Shaun flying with the boss make the F.O. nervous? He seems to be all over in the cockpit watching everything is he always like that or was it just because you were filming?
Hi, loving the videos. Quick question: How come you guys don't appear to be using a callsign? Is this ok if it is a short flight with low traffic around the area? Or have they just been edited out? Thanks!
@@tmc9581 Shawn switched to a new employer and I believe Jon is still with Presidential. Was just wondering whether Shawn still stays in touch with Jon as they seemed to get along very well.
What do you mean by typical for Bahamian standard? Are you implying that all of the runways are like that of Rock Sound? I agree work needs to be done just as well in America, so please don't make such statement as you did making it seems as if all of the runways in the Bahamas are awful. God bless.
Hello -Just found your channel. Have subscribed. This is my third video and a great way to start my day. Flying through the clouds was like being 7 again. Magic.. Thank You...
Great video as always. I've noticed you change course sometimes to avoid troublesome clouds and weather how does this work at night when you cant see them??
Caroline Honey , I’m not a pilot or anywhere near an expert, but I’m guessing from watching these videos that they have decent weather radar, which shows them what they need regardless of day or night. I’m sure someone will correct me!
