Greta info! IMO there are exercises that I would call hip dominant, and not two joint dominant, like RDL and back extentions.

Hi Cody,i have a question about starts. How to fix my knee opening up from the very beginning? And how to study “falling” from the blocks? (I get fully upright after 10-15 meters).

I have one question in general: what is your opinion about a 50% week after 3 weeks of intensive training as regeneration strategy? Well for endurance sports it is quite common. I was just wondering if it makes sense for more intensive sports. Or if it’s better to train less in a week and keep the rhythm.

Hoping to reach states in track this year so I've started training weights in the gym. I can't directly train max velocity because snow is covering the tracks :(. Once spring comes around though I'm going to start working right away. Question: Would you say hip thrusts are a good exercise for track?

Hey Cody, have you ever been able to the concentric on the Nordic curl without pushing yourself back up?
@Linci10Linci
@Linci10Linci 3 года назад
if hes not able to do that hes not a sprinter:D i would say that is standard strenght requirement for every athlete.
@totallyraw1313
@totallyraw1313 3 года назад
@@Linci10Linci Not true! It takes about 2 years to do 1 concentric Nordic. Most sprinters won't put their training aside to achieve this goal. Nordics make you vulnerable to injury for 3 days or more after doing a few sets of it.
@langefrans7677
@langefrans7677 3 года назад
@@totallyraw1313 I learnt that curl in about 5 days... I already had strong hamstrings so I guess I was at an advantage already
@totallyraw1313
@totallyraw1313 3 года назад
@@langefrans7677 But how slowly were you doing the eccentric? That's what's important. Anyone can do Nordics with a fast eccentric crashing to the ground. It takes about 2 years for most people to do a slow eccentric plus a concentric rep on the Nordic, even if they already have strong hamstrings.

Cody I'm kinda confused about weight training. How not to overtrain? You said 1:1 sprinting to lifting ratio is the best for 100m sprinters. But I don't really get it. I mean say I have 3 running workouts and I need to incorporate 3 lifting sessions into the schedule. But I got overtrained (I'm weak and I hardly squat my body weight) many times and my result sucks (at least it doesn't grow,although I'm only 15). So what can you say about that,maybe it's just about reducing the volume or reducing some weight sessions? Some people even say I need to lift weights early on and then switch it up and just sprint to get my muscles coordinated and to reduce weight lifting fatigue. I really need your advice.
@abkonk
@abkonk 3 года назад
for one mesocycle (about 2-3 months), focus on lifting first then running after if the goal is to see progress. then for the next, sprint first then lift heavy. This means you should be doing 4 workouts a week with both strength training and sprinting. Both sessions shouldn't be more than 90 minutes each and you should be resting 1.5-2 minutes between each set/exercise, this rest time can decrease as you become more conditioned. Hope that helps
@abkonk
@abkonk 3 года назад
also, a reason you're getting burnt out may be your weight training looks more like a bodybuilders and your CNS is getting burnt out. Lift like a power lifter. Here's a sample workout- 3x3 heavy squat, 3x3 heavy PowerClean/Deadlift, 3x8 Bulgarian Split Squats, 2x20 weighted pogo hops, 3x15,12,10 Nordics and the sprint session should follow

@@jonithantony7603 He looks very powerful on the weights. I wonder how top athletes match up, when comparing their 100m PBs and the amount of weight they can move on various lifts. The numbers of this relationship would probably tell you how many athletes rely upon plyo, and maybe other assets, rather than raw muscular strength and power. So it probably depends on the type of athlete, but nevertheless, he's shifting some weight there!
