Drop the trailer off at there site for construction , Basement clean outs , or whatever let them fill it and you come back and pick it up. Charge by day and trip loads . Spend the extra money for a good lock and another tip they make dog tags for your dogs that are gps get one put it under the trailer that way you know we’re it is at all times ..
Thx Mr. Robert , you gave out great information, I’m just starting my dump trailer business a 7X14 trailer but I don’t understand how I can get businesses from companies and what good questions to ask them . Is there a way you can help me ? I am in Louisiana thank you very much
Pick up the phone or walk in ask him hey what is it that you do and then try to figure out if you can add value to their operation… The magic formula is take action work hard
I watched you to post early this morning, and then missed it when you did! Hope you had a great day and a great tomorrow! Went by and checked on my trailer that's being built, yesterday....soon!
Dump trailer business is not a side hustle if your doing it legally. There’s DOT compliance, commercial insurance, and general liability insurance at a minimum. This is costly. Most people who do junk removal and dumpster hustle type things in my area, are doing so illegally and are not legit. These types of people will get confronted at some point or another by DOT. These types of people who operate illegally, hurt the people who paid their dues and run legit.
@@hustlenation4779 I’m just saying, there’s a lot more to it than just posting up adds. Got to do it legal or you could have some harsh consequences if someone gets hurt using your equipment or you hurt someone moving your equipment and not having commercial insurance.
Hey my brother. Been a truck driver for 20 years now and for the past 14 as an independent o/o. Got the time to get off of it. This might be a good idea.
If you're buying a dump trailer inspect the frame good! I bought one and first time I used it part of the frame buckled! Wanted one for years and this was the first "affordable" one I found. After repairs it will not be any deal at all. Buyer beware...
I had that happen with my second trailer. It is an iron bowl and I paid 5000 for it. Well once I had to replace all the brakes and bearings and everything that ran the price pretty close up to about 8000 it was not a deal at all
Thanks for the tips, greatly appreciated. I’m looking to get started with this in the spring. I’ve heard it’s the best time with spring cleanups and such.
I have had a trucking business for 18 years. And I am looking to get a few trailers that are 7×14 that would haul 6 yards. My question is what do you charge. There is so much you can do with them haul dirt, mulch, gravel, cleanups storage cleaning garage cleaning basement and haul bobcats tractors. Just wanting some idea on charges. Do want to go in the hole
Charge more for debris hauling brother! Like $200 minimum! Subbed to you. I'm starting off with a 5 yard, and soon 7 yard trailers. Non dumping. Working my way up to a dump, and rebuilding my old 1 ton Chevy C30.
Never include dump fees with trailer rent prices always charge seperate flat rate which is $150 for me, after pickup come back to the customer with a receipt and charge them the dump fee you paid
@@hustlenation4779 I live in California and in the Bay Area the dump fees are like $90 a ton so I never estimate I always bring back a receipt and have them pay the disposal fee after just so I'm guaranteed to make $150 everytime
@@thomas25082 All of mine basically pay in advance or I have a long-term personal relationship with them and I trust that they are going to pay me so I don’t have that issue
What's a good size trailer to start off with? At this time all I have is a used 2007 Chevy Express Van with a 4.3 liter. I have used this van to haul off trash and it's done very well. I have made almost $1000 in a month, any recommendations is greatly appreciated
Unfortunately I think you’re going to be limited with the power that your van has to pull any substantial roads and when I mean by that is anything that’s over about 8000 pounds. I always suggest getting the biggest trailer you feel comfortable pulling
@@hustlenation4779 I have a 3/4 ton. 8k towing capacity so I’m limited. My brother-in-law and sister own a lawn and landscape company so I know it will be used. A small dump trailer = small loads so I’m not sure how profitable it would be at first. I need a diesel
Hey man I totally understand maybe the thing to do is to you know call around to some construction companies landscape companies roofing companies and you know CF up there’s a huge demand for a smaller trailer I’m sure that I am once you get out there and maybe the thing to do is on the weekends just drive around and offer to pick up stuff out of peoples yards and also run advertisements hey I clean out garages
@@hustlenation4779 Yes sir! I’ve done quite a few storage clean ups and also moved houses. Buy coffee and donuts for the storage unit employees and they call you when they need junk and they refer you a lot 👍🏼
I haul in compost and manure. I literally get paid to bring people sh*t. I also get paid to clean out barns and stables. Paid twice to haul the same sh*t.
Great video Robert thanks for the info. I’m curious what truck do you use to pull the trailers? I bought a 2500 Cummins and I’m thinking of using that.
What if you leave it at a customers location for them to fill it with debris and they put cars batteries or air conditioners at the bottom the like and you don’t see it until you get to the dump?
Hey I have a truck and dump trailer as well and am wondering if you have any suggestions for prospecting. I was thinking of calling roofing companies and real estate Management companies to just let them know I offer full service junk removal etc etc but I was curious if you had any other input to companies or certain industries I should start prospecting to as well. Any information is helpful, Thank you!!!
Im 19 and my dad just passed leaving a decent amount of money, im not looking to spend it all im looking to start a business. I’ve been looking at some dump trailers and i have a 2014 highcountry 5.3 . What trailer would be best for me to have ? And is this a good business to start ?
Sorry about your loss my father died from cancer. I would suggest holding the money for 90 days, going to the feelings experiencing grief before making any major decisions.
Hello, I've been watching a few of you who have been successful with this. I have a few questions and hope you/yall can help. What are reoccurring maintenance fees that you incur with a dump trailer? Would you recommend starting with a new or used dump (considering the maintenance)? Would you start with a large or a small dump trailer?
To start with I would buy a new trailer and that way you know exactly what you’re getting. I have mine serviced about once every six months wheel bearings greased check the brakes Inspect hydraulic system
Couple things that I don’t worry about one else God will always provide for me the number to most people are lazy so I really don’t have to worry about competition this is not an easy gig
Yes sir I would be going around to antique stores, building supply houses, any place that might need a local delivery I would be putting it out there that you’re available
Thats the question I wanted to ask is how to secure the trailer when leaving it with a customer. Do they assume responsibility if stolen or is that partvof the risk?
@@etgrider77 You will have to secure the trailer. You can pull the emergency switch connector locking the brakes. Get a good welder/ fabricator to make a toung lock that hides the padlock or has limited access. Most toung locks on the market are not that secure. You can install a alarm that is powered on the battery. I have alarms on all my trailers. Get a Jack , 2x12 and a battery impact to remove 1 side of the tires. These are just a few ideas. Insurance that covers theft helps. It is a little extra work and initial investment. I won't tell you what to do it is up to you.
I was afraid you were going to say that. I can parallel park with the best of them. But add a trailer and I become a comedy routine. Although my experience is limited. I go to a boat launch to watch people for entertainment
The dump trailer is $200 for me to bring it by drop it off and when I pick it up I look at how much is inside of it and then I determine on what the cost of the dump fee is going to be because that is different than the trailer fee
@@hustlenation4779 many thank you’s ... you don’t have to share knowledge and you do .. god bless you your videos makes me want to do the same as you but nervous .. I’m 27 no family no mortgage payment in my life I’m a foreman plumber and travel for work.. thinking of hiring my brother to do the tasks for me and if pay him a set price or hourly .. I provide the truck and gas and dump trailer ?? What’s your opinion if you don’t mind answering
I think it’s much better to compensate somebody for the results they produce instead of their time so I would see if he wants to put any money into it himself so he’s got some skin in the game and then figure out a percentage of every load that he takes and that’s how he will get paid so if he does more than he makes more
@@hustlenation4779 your so right... My van is 6000 LBS I'll never be over 2000lbs So I'll be under weight I only have a 4.2L engine with 160,000 miles (for starters) plus a REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION But first thing I'll do is upgrade My used engine
No I do not… I would send them an invoice they would pay with Square and then the notes I would say how many days the rental was for and the payment would be their acceptance of those terms
Hey sir it's me again I wish I had a dump trailer ..just have a regular utility trailer I'm doing bad man 7 kids can't find work I post up at home Depot but no luck .. anything for a regular 12 footer trailer
Hey man I’m praying that some good fortune will come your way! I would be advertising on Facebook calling everybody in your phone asking if they’ve got anything I’d be taking yard equipment hauling it around have a lawnmower start knocking on doors cutting grass
