Different type of archer here, UK target recurve, but watching this realised my anchoring is very inconsiderate. I use my nose but sometimes it ends up on my cheek and wonder why the arrows gone flying all over the place 😂 I wish I had the outdoor space of my own like you! Thanks for the vid

Love the video, another major thing that has helped me tighten my grouping up was learning to squeeze my release rather than pulling it. A nice controlled squeeze so I follow through rather than pulling and jerking my quick release and entire bow. I went from about a 2 inch group for about a half inch grouping using all of these tips. Still watching videos to learn and grow my self as an archer, and learn a lot everyday from different people and still learning mistakes I have to correct and I can hit a bulls eye almost every shot and have killed many deer. Love the video, keep up the good work man!

It’s sure did & will. I numbered my arrows today before I went & practiced. I’ve been thinking it’s been me that has been off but this hole time but it’s just some of my arrows. I’ve now got my true flying arrows sitting in front ready to hunt. Plus I made my targets smaller & missed smaller so that helped with my accuracy.
@mattthadd4663
@mattthadd4663 2 года назад
I do the same to the target but I also spray paint a circle in the center of each square. It gives couple other spots to shoot so the center doesn’t get shot out as quickly.

One thing that will help when you're moving into step 3 with number your arrows, is spine indexing them prior to nock tuning, generally I've found if I spine my arrows before fletching them, I can skip the whole nock tuning process all together.

Awesome Video! Just picked up a new Bowtech Solution SS and feels crazy different from my hand-me-down bow from the 90s. Going to tape my block like you did and number my arrows! How many shots do you take during each session?
@WhereTheRiverRuns
@WhereTheRiverRuns 2 года назад
I typically shoot 3-5 arrows. Rest and get my arrows. Then shoot 3-5 arrows again. I’ll do that like 3-4 times per session. If I start fatiguing, my groups get big and bad habits starts forming. But I can do this twice a day and get in 40 shots a day if I want. Hope that helps!

Is it okay that I slightly turn a recurve bow sideways when I shoot? I can hit a target both ways but as you said- be consistent!
@WhereTheRiverRuns
@WhereTheRiverRuns 2 года назад
So. Let me start by saying I know less about recurve than I do compound. But I’ve seen some really excellent marksmanship from people using lots of different angles/shooting forms. Try what’s comfortable. See what other accurate folks are doing. Learn the “rules”. Don’t break them until you know WHY you’re breaking them. Keep practicing. You’ll find the perfect form for you! Great video thanks for sharing. Why do you draw pointing up in the air, if you have a mishap that arrow will go anywhere, pull back pointing towards where your shooting, I see a lot of USA guys do this it’s a poor and dangerous practise 👍🏻
@WhereTheRiverRuns
@WhereTheRiverRuns 2 года назад
Big Willie, it probably comes from watching too much Olympic archery. Competitive archery. It’s not just a USA thing. It’s a global thing. The Koreans, Netherlands, etc., from this last Olympics for example. If you rewatch those matches. You’ll notice they all draw down like that. You are right. I do agree with you. It is dangerous. Particularly if you don’t know what’s beyond your target. I’m fortunate to have a giant 10 acre field of nothing behind my target. I’ll see if I can eliminate some of that though! Haha! Thanks for the tip. You’re aren’t the first person to make that comment! -Gregg
@BigWillieFPV
@BigWillieFPV 2 года назад
@@WhereTheRiverRuns I didn’t get to watch the Olympic archery but I’ll check out some footage, most of the videos I watch is from the USA so that would be why i think it’s a USA thing, when I fist started I pulled back up in the air as that’s what I’d seen on RU-vid but the pros at my club sorted me out quickly, consistency is key and you’ll not always have that 10acres behind your target 👍🏻Happy shooting mate. @qddk9545
@qddk9545 2 года назад
You certainly have one VERY security based bad habit, that a lot of handgun shooters also have. You pull the bow down when drawing against the target, which means that when an arrow slips, it will fly to a possible dangerous direction far beyond your shooting range. Yo need to draw up to the target.
@WhereTheRiverRuns
@WhereTheRiverRuns 2 года назад
You have a valid point for safety but drawing down is a form choice. Watch the Olympic shooters. They also pull down while drawing against. And they’re the best in the world. Quite honestly. A hunter should be able to draw from lots of different positions. Pulling Up. Pulling Down. Sitting. Kneeling. But this is a good time to say you should never shoot without knowing what’s in front out in front of you. Absolutely. Which I absolutely do! Safety is always a concern. With each and every weapon. Have to be aware. -G
@JarppaGuru
@JarppaGuru 2 года назад
10:17 basically you shoot all arrows then pick best. then you shoot more arrows pick best. in the end you just moved all arrow money arrows xD and you allways made small mistake on bad arrow. it was that money arrow LOLwell you have constant draw and aim. dats that. you cant predict arrow
@WhereTheRiverRuns
@WhereTheRiverRuns 2 года назад
Not quite. When you shoot money arrows often, you’ll soon find that your own shooting errors could very well mean you missed your target with a perfectly good arrow. This comes down to shooting A LOT! In 100 arrows, you MIGHT have 1 or 2 faulty arrows. You can’t blame poor shooting on “a bad arrow”. You’ll find this out when you shoot your same arrows hundreds of times. Good arrows are expensive. Don’t toss arrows until you’ve shot that arrow 200 times and know for sure it’s flying funky! Many times, it’s a shooting error. Not a gear error. -Gregg
