Speech therapy for children at home. As a speech therapist, I get asked all the time what to do when my toddler is not talking. Here are 3 quick tips that will help your little one start talking and improve their speech!
1) Spend time talking about what you are doing - narrating throughout your day.
2) Make sure you are repeating words in sentences three or more times to help build the connection.
3) Try offering simple and closed-end choices. Instead of "what do you want for a snack?" try a closed-end choice like "Do you want the orange or the apple?"

As a father who has questions about this in my child's life, some regarding their progress and others with my expectations, thank you. I really didn't have an idea of what I could do and taking them outside to someone first would likely not be helpful and cause some anxiety. Nearly brought me to tears. People need this help.

These are EXCELLENT tips! What's amusing is that the first two tips also work with dogs... AND cats when it comes to comprehension and training! Granted, it takes cats a lot longer, but the dog is fairly good at actually making choices! But yes, it helps tremendously to hear phrases and words repeated often, especially if there are hearing problems associated which there can be... happened to me!

My daughter will be 3 next month, she talks but it’s not clear. It’s gibberish mostly. She uses words, and knows what things are and where they go but her speech is not clear.

Going through this too. Mine just turned 3 yrs old and is exposed to English & my Native language spoken in the household, she says enough to let me know what she wants but not speaking clear sentences.

I'am a First timer of being a Father, she's already 3 years old but her speech may seem to be late because when she says the term (LoLo) a filipino word for "grandfather" she pronounce it as "Wowo" she can't pronounce the letter "L" so i want to train her to achieve her better speech

Hello dear Thank you for sharing My child is 5 and can sing, memorize speech lines from cartoons he watches, write 123 and ABC, can basically do everything a child his age can do but does not speak clearly enough to hear what he wants to say. He can make simple sentences like i will eat food and the likes but hardly makes more than 5 words in a sentence Please what can i do to help him Thank you

Building vocabulary in kid's memory requires patience. We can't rash this thing as it would negatively impact on child's brain. I'm pretty much aware how kids learn what we do. Though, Better Speech comes up with proven method that I liked the most.
