Now we know how you store the bodies! (Kidding that's dark sorry I thought it was funny though. Great job Brent you're becoming my favorite miniature RU-vidr)
@@planktonic-larvae yes! I actually have the entire project filmed and I just need to edit! I’ve been visiting family but I should have the video out in the next few days 🙂 I’m glad you’re stoked for it!!!
@@planktonic-larvae awww cute! Spoiler alert in my video I’ll be calling it a fairy house...for multiple reasons you’ll see haha...but don’t worry the pink and purple vibes are STRONG! 💖💜
I've noticed the wargaming hobby community is quite close knit and mutually supportive and I'd like to think they'd all help each other like this when they needed it.
@@Justiceinthefog No, I bought this specific book because it was on sale in a book store. It's a "Lechtturm1917". If one want's to get advanced, I'd say the paper is probably a bit to yellow.. but it works good enough for me.
I love that these people have helped Guy and Penny. I’ve liked and subscribed to their channels too. Love the little baggies, the wonderful swatches in the little white book and such positivity and creativity from Raqrex Art. Great ideas! Thank you everyone xxx
I honestly think the idea of a paint book is absolutely brilliant. As a result of watching that, I immediately started my own. I now have most of the paints I own in the little book and it's very helpful. Thanks for that.
The fact that they all helped you with this video speaks volumes about this lovely community we are all blessed to be a part of. Well done everyone. Thanks!
Guy & Penny, congratulations on the mini-you's. You'll never be a 'perfect' parent and that is okay. My son is on the spectrum and I raised him as a single father the best that I could. I strove to be that 'perfect' parent, and it was exhausting. Don't forget about your own needs. Lean on each other and don't be afraid to not be the best, you're only human. Strive to be a good enough parent (and then some) to help them grow independently and thrive. You guys got this, It only gets easier and I'm very happy for you two.
Don't know how much it helps, but I'm gonna loop this video and click on the ads when I can for the next few hours to hopefully boost something (idk how well YT treats this action). Good luck with everything Guy and Penny!! Also commenting to boost algorithms and whatnot.
the whole vibe of the video, as well as the genuine QUALITY of the messages contained within is actually so heart-melting. GORK AND MORK (aka - 'the twins') should know they're loved!
The youtube minipainting community is so adorable and full of lovely people. When covid is over I want a crossover event more ambitious than the MCU, with everyone in the same place.
The paint recipe book is one of the best pieces of advice that anyone in the hobby could give. I lost count of the amount of times I forgot what mix of paint I did for various projects until I did it myself. Wasted so much time trying different mixes to colour match stuff!
Thanks for this one! The paint sample index tip from 52 Miniatures really clicked for me. I've been making paint swatch indexes for my watercolor, gouache, casein, and oil paints for decades and it never occurred to me to do it for all my acrylic paint. Plus keeping in a book with paint recipes made so much sense. Excellent useful tip!!!
Oh this whole series is just gonna be my favourite crossover, isn't it? I adore 52 Miniatures and Goobertown... If Miscast snuck into these I may lose it!
Since I'm a colorblind bro, I organized my paints into a google sheet last lockdown...all 160 of them with the rows: - Name, - Brand, - Note (where I write stuff like FX, Fluo, Ink, but also 'For leather/skin/wood' or 'blue green mixed color' (for those pesky colors I can't really tell with our disability) or dark/light to know that for example Spring Green is a light green and similar), - Works with Color (stuff like "Highlight for color xyz") - Color Family (basic categories like red, green, blue or skin)
I just realised how much of a unit @goobertownhobbies actually is! He’s got a PhD, beautiful hair, cats and a dream voice my goodness... I can’t let my girlfriend see this or else she won’t be my girlfriend for much longer! 😂😅
0:47 : "Alright Brent, you can do this, play it cool, just smile naturally, smiling like a normal human being smiles, Guy isn't off-camera with a pistol to the cat's head..."
The little white book tip is a great one! I've been a box art commando for a while but recently started a Nid army & wanted to go off road. The problem I've been having is the right colour selection. The composition is roughly right it's just some of the colours are too light or dark for what I wanted. Experimentation is good, but having a more definite plan would help with the finished product.
So cool to see the support of hobbyists during your time off. Keeps the channel going and allows for you to take some time for your newborns. Thanks to all of you
sorry I totally rolled on the floor laughing after 30 seconds, that's when I saw and heard Brent saying with the most candor "small drug plastic bags" ... 10/10 would buy from your supplier! much love
The little white book is basically what I did at the start when I had very few paints. I don't know why I ever stopped, especially considering just how many paints I have nowadays.
This was a really cute video! Glad I got to discover Raqrex, and lovely to see a bunch of youtubers getting together to help Guy out. Warm and fuzzies!
I liked 52's comment about separating concept from color. Lao Tzu said "The five colors blind the eye. The five tones deafen the ear. The five flavors dull the mouth." The idea being that when we have these mental categories we tend to see the world through them. And, in a sense, become blinded to the entire variety of colors that actually exist in reality. Between Blue and Green is an infinite spectrum of color. There is very strong evidence that one's vocabulary for colors impacts one's ability to distinguish different shades and hues.
This is brilliant - thank you for this! Always nice to see Goober Town Hobbies - Guy, I expect a pink and purple wizard castle build when things calm down.
I just started a little white book the other day, and instead of just a swatch of paint I put down an undercoat of my most common primer colors so I could see how the paint reacts.
Congratulations on the little ones! Its so awesome to see others from the community come together to help you out! I've never commented before and I just wanted to say thank you! The past year has been rough for everyone and I got back into mini painting to keep my sanity. Your videos along with other content creators really helped me boost my confidence which kept me coming back to hobby desk!
Congrats on the twins Penny & Guy 👏 Amazing to see all these collaborators chip in. I'm always blown away by how many talented creators are in this space. Thanks for sharing these great people and their channels! 😀
Speaking as a traditional 2d artist, that second tip on the paint-sample book is so important. The printed colour on bottles and tubes is often a bit of. Get to know your paints, and the first step in doing this is simply making your own sample-cards/book.
I hadn't noticed until now, but Brent/Goobertown Hobbies has an incredibly Bob Ross vibe. He has such a calming voice and demeanor, and its such a relaxing time listening to him.
Can I just say I already love this series? Using your not inconsiderable RU-vid cred to help out other channels, while also giving your subscribers a chance to see something new? A+ Congrats as well on being a dad!
