I bought the red-version of these LED and it works good. I mounted them inside of my tail light housing to use as parking lamps, and use them at night when I do deliveries. Leaving my low-lights on or turning the flashers on usually starts to take it's toll on the battery over time. Hopefully because of the low current draw of these LED, the car battery will last a lot longer.

I've tried using these "eagle eyes" and they are HORRIBLE. When used on the outside of my vehicle, they got water damaged immediately and stopped working. I also tried using these inside a housing (completely sealed), and they start flickering. I took apart one of them to see exactly what the issue is, and found that the resistor is soldered on in the worst way possible (very brittle). The best LED's are the "trailer marker lights". Those are built for abuse in the rain and snow, plus they are about the same price.

most of the time we waste our time doing DIY with things like this and come to learn that before you do anything to your car, atleast make sure if those lights are water proof or not based on the application requirement for outside weather or indoors. some of vehicles you have to cut some plastics to install those lights, and once done you can not reverse the action, now you have to find something similar to keep the hole occupied by something...

I've used these eagle eyes from different suppliers/manufacturers although they're probably all made by the same people, but the housing of the bulbs all began to turn in colour, with an ugly rusty bronze colour, and definitely not very waterproof. As soon as rain fell, a couple of them accumulated some water droplets and begun to mess with the electricals. Have you begun to experience anything similar with these?

One of the sickest diy led job ive seen. what if i dont have a DRL module? Can i just tap to any light bulb in headlamp? Or use a fuse tap and power them with a switch?
@dial2fast
@dial2fast 9 лет назад
***** Yes, you can run them off your ignition or through a switch. They can handle 14V no problem (with car running).
@beckhamboy23cr9
@beckhamboy23cr9 9 лет назад
dial2fast hey man. So i was looking on Ebay for a drl module and the 2 that i want say that the output is only like 15watts. I bought (10) 9w eagle eye leds and i want to put 4 on each side. So that'll make it 36w on each side? Drl wont be able to power them or even worst overheat and melt? Yours are 3w each so thats 15w on each side?
@dial2fast
@dial2fast 9 лет назад
***** Those wattage ratings on the LEDs are over rated. It's typically not near 9w (or 3w) power consumption. You can always get a multimeter and measure the current draw of one of the LED using a 12v source such as your battery. 9W / 12V = 0.75amp = 750mA. See if your multimeter really shows that kind of current draw.
@arturracer1166
@arturracer1166 5 лет назад
@@dial2fast it seems the watts only means these LEDs should be as bright as regular bulb with similar wattage. It doesn't really take that much of power in real life.

Hi there, those DRLs look amazing, and really bright, just one question how long do your DRLs stay on for after you have switched the engine off, I have the same DRL controller as you and sometimes they can stay on for up to 3 minutes after the engine has been switched off and wondered if this was normal? Keep up the good work - David
@dial2fast
@dial2fast 9 лет назад
When I initially installed the controller, I let the auto shut off feature to turn it off, but realize the time it takes to turn off varies widely anywhere from 30 sec to 60 sec probably due to the time it takes the car battery to slowly drop in voltage after shutting car off. So I ended up moving the controllers power lead from the battery to the car's ignition. Now it turns on/off with ignition (as seen in this video).
@beckhamboy23cr9
@beckhamboy23cr9 9 лет назад
dial2fast where specifically did u wire the lights after removing from battery?
