I recently started to fry pears. Only because they were not rope enough to eat. All I did was slice them thin, place them in a frying pan and fry till they were slightly caramelized on both sides. The heat activates the sugars even in a pear that isn't quite ripe. Apples are also great this way.

My grandma has this pear tree and she gave me a whole bag of pears. I have so many I don't know what to do with them. So I searched up this video.

By rubbing chemical stuff into a fruit you're making the taste worse and some of it can get to the pear itself.
