There is another way to deal with snipe, that does not lead to any waste at all like cutting 3 inches on both ends, and that is also 100% effective... change your workflow... usually we start on the jointer to joint one side & one face, & then plane down the other face to the appropriate thickness, lets assume 3/4 of an inch... what i mean by changing your workflow is you proceed the exact same way as stated above but when you plane your board down to 3/4 inch, leave an extra 1/64 & here is the magic, remove the extra 1/64 on the jointer... you will get a perfect board without any snipe at all... without wasting 6 inches of expensive lumber... if you work with wenge, 6 inches of waste means a lot of money
