On day one, I begin my journey following the north edge of the Llyn Gwynant through woodland before visiting some beautiful waterfalls. From here I get onto the Watkin path and make camp on a rise away from the path, with a view of Snowdon (although he kept his head in the clouds!) and had some rest before the main ascent the next day.
This is the first day of a three day trip, which was a 15 mile / 24km circular route along Llyn Gwynant, up Snowdon via the Watkin Path, down via the Miners Track, and then following Afon Glaslyn through the Llyn Gwynant valley back to where I started. It was the most challenging hike I've ever done due to the weather (extremely wet!) and the Watkin path (extremely scary!), but it was also a totally awesome experience :D
As always, respect our beautiful places and Leave No Trace wherever you go

At 75 I am too old to rough it any more but living in an old farm house with the bedroom windows wide open, even on the coldest nights, I lay tucked up in my comfy bed snug and warm and watch videos such as this one. Thank you so much for posting your experiences in the great outdoors.

I had something to post but decided not to because I figured I would get busted by the RU-vid police for being racist somehow or maybe cruelty to animals? I don't know what those annoying blue creatures are they're the size of a small opossum but they walk around on two legs most of the time so I really don't know what lifeform category they're from they are just ANNOYING like little blue an white Facebook trolls. 😂 yeh go ahead call me Gargamelle I really don't care 😊

Assuming you're solo, everybody should take a moment to realise how much work it takes to get this video done, having to go backwards and forwards to collect the camera you keep walking by is a headache. Brings back memories, although Snowdon was never this beautiful for me, Former RM, Crib Goch in the middle of winter. Maybe I'll visit again one day, Great video. 👍
@WildBeare
@WildBeare 3 года назад
Aw thank you, yep it takes me a long time to get anywhere when I'm filming 😄 I love creating something though, just as much as I love the trip itself, so it doesn't really feel like a pain. Crib Gogh in winter must be absolutely brutal! I'm not sure if I'll ever attempt it or not, working my way up slowly to get used to exposure, maybe one day. Thanks for watching :)
@595goldy
@595goldy 3 года назад
@@WildBeare Crib Gogh should never be attempted solo in winter, we did it annually before deploying to Norway, Royal Marines still had M&AW Cadre staff with us, summer should be fine, lots of climbers complete it. Good luck.

5:03 Start watching you cross the river in flip flops, hear you scream a little because it's cold, laugh a little inside because most of us know that cold water feeling. Then it happened, a weird cross over sensation of dread and annoyance, yet somewhat proud. You had to make that trip another 2 times to retrieve your camera 😁😁 Thank you for doing this for us

I don't know if you'll read this but thank you, what an incredible video for so many reasons. I'm really glad it popped up on my feed and that I clicked as I've never watched anything like this before. I don't have as many opportunities to have these experiences any more so seeing and hearing you living them allows me to live vicariously through you. What a beautiful part of the world, and you share that awe and wonder that we should all celebrate so honestly that it just made me smile. Cant wait to watch more. Stay well and happy.

Came for the shorts, stayed for her lovely personality. No, seriously, her videos are amazing. Great scenery, presented in a calm way. Everything feels so relaxed: the music, her comments, the cinematography. Even her basic approach to camping is so relaxed: 'I don't care about the ultra light nonsense, I just bring everything with me I could possibly need.' Really great videos by a wonderful woman.

At one time there were great deal of copper mines around Snowdonia, that blue green colour in the rock is copper oxide... I love Snowdon camped there many a time ... But it was rather more pleasant out of the military... I have some memorable moments within the British military in Wales... Snowdonia and the infamous Brecon beacons. Love your videos, fantastic... What an amazing young woman you are....... respect 🙏

Hi Pete, ahh is it, that's really interesting :D I've seen the copper mines near Beddgelert, quite fascinating. I will have to visit the Brecon Beacons at some point :D Thank you so much, so glad you like them, I love making them :) Claire

@@WildBeare the Brecon beacons are very unforgiving, when the weather turns it can be absolutely brutal and is very exposed. Snowdonia is a much more pleasant experience. Anyway I look forward to seeing more of your videos. I'm using my favourite tent at the moment my fairly new Vango F10 MTN 2 tent.. I still have my original first ever Vango force ten... What a tent that was..

Oh to be young again. I know how difficult it is to set cameras up and film yourself on these adventures. I did a 10 day solo hike in Swedish Lapland in mid September of 2015. I remember having to remove my hiking boots and slip on some water shoes to cross many streams. I did a day hike up and down Sweden's highest mountain Kebnakaise and it was glorious sunshine at the base and snowing a bizzard at the peak. A few days later I was in England visiting family and did a day hike up and down Scafell Pike. I didn't have a camping stove in Sweden so I had to make a campfires from whatever I could find and the airline lost my self inflating mattress and I didn't have time to buy another one so I had to sleep with just my sleeping bag and all the clothes I was carrying for warmth. Most mornings I woke up to frost but I survived. You could drink the water straight from the rivers and streams without having to filter it . I love the outdoors so much, I moved to Canada almost 14 years ago and live a few hours drive from the Canadian Rockies. It's great to see so many people making good content on RU-vid.. I think it inspires others to get out there and enjoy the great outdoors

Hello Wild Ones! Thank you for watching Day 1 of my lil Snowdon adventure! This was my first time using the MSR Hubba NX tent. I intended to do a viddy on it while on this trip but there was too much going on with the rain etc - I'll try and get one done another time. It seems a great tent and held up perfectly in some shocking weather, I also managed to pitch it outer first too. I did miss the space of the Naturehike, especially once everything was wet and had to be piled up in a heap, and there wasn't the space I'm used to for arranging my stuff so nicely which will take a bit of getting used to as I'm a neat-freak. But the space is the trade off for the weight of course. Considering it's a 1-man, the space is probably quite good (the Naturehike has just spoilt me with it's cavernous ways). I could fit my rucksack & other things in the vestible, and the bits that I wanted to keep really dry such as electronics, dry clothes, food etc I put at the end of my sleeping mat. It kept me warm and dry, didn't budge in the wind once the guylines were in properly and was easy to pitch. It also has good headroom for sitting up :) See you next Thursday 7pm for Day 2 when the weather comes in and scare myself silly on the Watkin path 😄 Have a great eve! Claire 🌿🐻

Yay, someone else who stops to speak to the locals. When I'm out and about with my other half our sentences are always splintered with "Hi sheeps" or "ahhhh, ponies." Great vlog

I’ve been watching tons of camping videos lately as I’d love to start going camping (in Scotland) from next year. I’ve watch Ed a few of yours and found them really motivating and entertaining. Please keep up the great work.

Snowdon is stunning. Use to live 55 miles or so from there. On the England Wales border. Thanks for making the effort to film and share!

I would never want to go home! I would just stay next to the river or stream and softly drift off into sleep listening to the sound ♥️

Aren't the Welsh Blue are a popular slate... from Wales! I think there are purple stones/slate too! Loving these weekend adventures!

@@bushcat274 certainly there are some Welsh blues at the site but there are stones from other locations closer to the site too. I think English Heritage have a section on their website dedicated to Stonehenge that may have some detail on it!

Well done Claire. Snowdonia is something else. Should imagine you'll be steering clear of Crib Goch.🙂👍
