I had forgot about your rake. How wonderful to see it in action again. How easy it looks, easy on the back also and all that grass t use in the garden for mulch around the plants or in the compost pile, what a benifit!! What a wonderful addition to your tools for a beautiful yard like you have. You keep things so beautiful!! It looks better than any park I have seen. Wonderful work as usual from you. The rain has finally let up a little here in the Texas Panhandle. I finally got my fence up yesterday to keep my little schnauzer out of my garden area. I got the peppers planted last evening and this morning as well as some herbs. Will plant beans straight in the raised beds this evening when it cools off a little. I'm going to use the long stick and stake like you showed in your video to plant them. My daughter will come over in a few days to help me get the cattle panels up between the raised beds to use as a trellis between the raised beds for the beans, sugar baby water melons, small cantaloupe and cucumbers over the walkways. Carrots, tomatoes, peppers, herbs, bok choy (never grew this before) pink celery, and a multitude of other things in the center of the raised beds. I have a place picked out for corn and okra in my large homemade tomato cages in a flower bed so the puppy can't get them!!! Thanks so much for sharing your video, tell the wife hello, happy gardening!!!
Very nice video, semiretired with a far smaller site, considered the Cyclone Rake Commander with one reservation. I have loblolly pines on part, the pine straw and cones I would like to see gone. A magnificent garden, relaxing with a meal you grew; the common sense we all share, wish we’d retired years earlier. Thank you for the wonderful video and relaxing atmosphere.
Sounds like you are almost there. I purchased a pine straw rake from titan to help with big cleanups and something like that will probably be needed in that area because I dont think cones would be good for this unit with all the sap. someday you will look back and wonder how you ever had time for a job. Thanks for watching.
It's wonderful that you are SO handy and know how to maintain your equipment and improvise when you need to make things work smoothly. I wish I had level enough & wide open property to enjoy a beast like that Cyclone Rake! Grass clippings make great mulch and beautiful soil over time. Don't forget to leave some clippings in place every few mowings to keep your grass fields fertile and healthy.
That cyclone rake definitely makes clean up and mulching easy. I just use it in the spring and then leave the clippings on the lawn the rest of the year. Thanks for watching.
URHC - Thanks for the great follow up! The property looks beautiful and we're delighted to see that the Cyclone Rake is helping you maintain it just the way you like it. We're here if you need anything. Have a great Fall season.
After the initial issues were fixed it has worked great and gets a good workout keeping the garden mulched. Thanks for all your help. You should look into making something similar to the slatted raised beds l use. I can't find a source for all the subscribers that want them. Thanks for watching.
I love my cyclone rake! I haven't had any problems in the 5 years I have owned mine. It definitely takes some getting used to on the handling, it's very easy to do some damage to plants and small trees. The grass clippings make great mulch.
Mine has been great since they got the original problems straightened out. A great company that stands behind their products. I collect about 50 bags a year for garden mulch with no problem. Thanks for watching.
I've had that same Cyclone Rake for about 10 or 12 years. Can't imagine fall cleanup without it. I am surrounded by huge old-growth oak trees and it takes me about 12-15 loads (packed-full) to clean the yard each year in November. The oak leaves are kinda bulky and do jam up occasionally, especially with sticks as you mentioned. The engine still starts without any hesitation after a decade++. The two main problems I've had are 1.) the plastic used on the mower discharge bracket as well as the plastic vacuum housing itself are wearing our and/or cracking in places and 2.) both zippers that hold the fabric bag to the metal tube frame have broken. The plastic parts were ~$300 to replace, so instead I ended up reinforcing the broken ones where needed. And I've simply come up with other ways to hold the bag to the frame. Would still buy it again, even with a couple problems. Great value for the money.
I use mine more for mulch in the spring. I get about 10 bags full of maple leaves in the fall and also spread them on the garden. It definitely is a great machine. Have you contacted them about the zippers? They should last as long as the bag. Thanks for watching.
That cyclone looks so much easier and more handy than a sweeper. I'll have to look into one. On a side note, I thought I was subscribed to your channel but wasn't. I got that corrected now and look forward to more of your videos. Thankyou sir.
Another great video as always. I bought a cyclone rake 11 years ago and honestly it has been the best lawn and garden purchase I've ever made. I couldn't maintain my property in the fall without it.
Great update video. I agree with the screwed up gas cans these days. I like your suggestion on the gas pump. I will check them out soon. Have a great day !!
That Harbor freight pump didn't last very long before gas started getting in the battery compartment. There is a update video about it. I would look for a better made pump. Thanks for watching.
I bought one online that uses D cell batteries, and it works fantastic on diesel and gas, I just make sure to drain back into can and then put suction end in the air and drain the output hose into receiving tank, all clean and drained.
A lovely big garden with lots of land. I was just about to suggest using an air hose to clean off the grass from the window and then you said that you already do that. I was moaning to my son about not being able to get out into the garden a cut the grass, but yours puts mine into insignificance so I don't really have anything to moan about
Thanks. Time to change things up a little. Have some photo editing software coming to make splash screens next. They tell me it will attract more views 🤔. I was thinking a couple hungry goats 🐐. Grandkids all gave up on soccer. Thanks for watching.
I have had a Cyclone Rake Z10 attached to a Craftsman 50" for two years, does a great job for both grass and leaves. I didn't have any problem with the 10" tube.
Love your videos. Snagged a smaller cyclone rake end of last year eager to get it going this summer. Watching this video with such a huge yard have you ever thought about pulling a second motorized mower deck like what I have an older 66" Swisher pull behind. I'm mowing at 105" wide. Obviously I don't have a Cyclone rake hooked up to either, but as far as bulk mowing it works fantastic. Mine is older and has a 20hp Briggs the newer ones only come with a 14hp. Harbor Freight to the rescue. Also, mine is a finish mower they do make bush hog style also. I a week or so I'll let you know how I make out installing my used cyclone rake.
I have recently upgraded to a commercial zero turn that really speeds things up. The cyclone rake will eventually be replaced by a bagger. The mulch is great for weed control in my garden. Thanks for watching.
Why not just put the cyclone rake on the zero turn instead? I'm sure you could modify the MDA you have. Worst case, just need a new MDA for the new mower. Love your yard and garden! I want to be you when I grow up and retire in a few years. @@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@@bajagadget Thet aren't rated for towing 500 pounds more then a couple feet and have no brakes. The kubota bx gets spun sideways at times with 4 wheels and an extra 500 pounds. Any type of uneven ground gets the rigid zero turn frame up on 3 wheels. Anyone that uses this behind a zero turn is crazy. Go for the DR type that isn't a rigid hitch. Thanks for watching.
Japanese Peony "trees" are exquisite. One of my favorites. Tell Mrs. URHC she has great taste in flowers! (Did you stick a new label on her yet when she wasn't looking?)
I'm new to your channel, and enjoying your videos. I suspect that the reason you haven't had any birds nest in your gourd birdhouses is that they will swing about in the wind. Birds don't like to next in anything that is too exposed, and definitely not if it moves around. Try weighing them down with a weight suspended below them, and also raise them up by a few feet to make them more secure from predators who might want to eat their eggs.
I have alot of maples and oaks on a1.5acre lot. I have to bag everything, so you think if I put multiple 32 gallon trash containers inside of bin would that work? I just hate to have to dump leafs on the ground then have to pick the. Uo any out in trash can or the leaf bags.
Temperatures vary between 50s and 70s now with 40s to 60s at night. It's just a pond but the whole bottom is still flooded from all the rain. Thanks for watching.
I'm some what surprised that they don't send out the engineers to pick your brain about improving the Cyclone rake, you were an engineer or close to it, you must have a few good ideas that they might put to use on future models.
Can you please do a video on what string trimmer you use? I have bought and returned 3 in the past year and still can not find one that works right for me. Shoulders ready to fall off from endless weed whacking from all the relentless rain. MY PET PEEVE: gas can caps! Could you please tell me the name of that little gas pump from Harbor Freight?
There's a video about both. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3CPv7pLLVCg.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KbZzn58TftE.html I have had excellent luck with the echo trimmers and they get a good workout. I like the shoulder straps, they take a lot of load off my arms. If you have a local dealer it is best to buy from them.
I am thinking about buying a cyclone rake. Did you end up keeping the 10 hp motor on the 8 inch unit? Has Cyclone Rake made any changes to their Z10 to fix the problems that you were having. Thought i would buy a Z10 but now not sure which unit to buy.
I still have the 10 hp on it and no problems since. The Z10 may work fine with your grass and deck combination. See what they recommend and if you have problems call them for support. I pick up over 50 cu yards of mulch a year for my garden with it and have no problems now. Thanks for watching.
It appears that you’re not using a 3 point hitch so how have you mounted the attachment plate to your Kubota? What size Kubota tractor do you have please?
It's a BX series 23 hp. The original assembly video back a ways shows how I welded the hitch plate to a 2 x 2 tube that slides in the trailer hitch. I just removed the 3 point arms because they were in the way . Thanks for watching.
I’m sure there is far less play than with the 3 point. I do have Mr Hodges Stabilizer Bars though and absolutely love them. My old Toro 14.5 Hp tractor could pull my cyclone fine but couldn’t back up with a small load so invested in the Kubota and love the tractor and various implements. I will view all your videos. You do great work. Thank you for sharing and your prompt reply.
It's always easy to change the hitch around later. My hitch keeps it close to the tractor that helps it maneuver in tight places but on the other hand I get a lot of exhaust fumes the way BX tractors pull engine cooling air from the back.
Excellent point regarding the exhaust. I do have the Curtis Deluxe Cab and it helps in that regard at least a little, I believe. It sure cuts down on the amount of dust from the cyclone rake. Far less play now with Hodges Stabilizers. Love your big (huge) yard but yes, a lot more work for you.
TY for this video. I recently bought a jd 1025r and I’m looking for a good leaf collection system at a reasonable price. The cr seems like a good contender but I have a few questions I hope u can help answer: 1. How does the cr perform on a slope? a) In your video I see what seems to be a noticeable slope that runs along the road beside your property... how does the cr do on that slope? B) Our property has a slope on its border that varies from 6’-10’ in height, that runs for some 300’, and the slope varies from 15-25 %. When I mow that slope I often mow across this slope and have no stability problem. How will the cr xl perform if I mow across this slope and will it create any stability/rollover concern, if I mow across the slope with a hopper that is no more than half full. 2. Is it easy to get the engine on and off the unit? 3. Would you recommend using the receiver hitch or the 3 point hitch to pull the xl? TY
Slides tractor sideways on slopes if you have much in the bag. I built a lift in another video because it was to heavy for me to lift by myself. Receiver, my 3 pt goes up and down with the mower. Thanks for watching.
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 do u put weight on the front of your tractor when using the cr along the road/slope?... or is it easy for you to control the slide without adding weights? TY
No the rear end slips and slides. It is a solid hitch. I don't even attempt that slope anymore as they recently raised the road a foot and made it steeper. Any slopes should be done starting with an empty bin and the engine is a splash lube so it shouldn't be used on angles.
