Couple years ago I started doing fall cleanup with a leaf collection system on the mower..... I wish I had started doing that years ago. Last fall I did 74 Fall cleanups by myself in two weeks. I used to have a crew of 5 people in it would probably take us a good 2 weeks to do 74 cleanups.

The DR was the best thing that we have ever bought to help with the leaf cleanups. It has had some problems over the few years I've owned it but the time it has saved out weighs the problems. The set up I have with it this year should hopefully save even more time.

Way to knock out those clean ups. You two have been making the most out of better weather days. Leaves here everywhere, but wind is very bad. Great job!

Good work Mark, we had great weather here yesterday, I was able to get the final cleanup done, wet leaves yes, but no wind what so ever which is unheard of, took me about 3 hrs to get 2.5 acres done, just a back pack blower and metal basket catcher on the walk behind.
@Marksmisfitworld
@Marksmisfitworld 5 лет назад
That is how I started out. 48'" Exmark Metro with a grass catcher. Worked my ass of with that but still made money.

I've been curious about things like clean up time or amount of leaves cleaned up. I'm working with a commercial grade 61" Bad Boy to mow with. I'm using a 42" Craftsman riding mower to pull my DR yard vac. A few days ago I broke down and bought a Sthil BR800 leaf blower. I'm not sure what my yard area is but, I've got 1600' of fence around it. I only get leaves on about half of it. But that's enough to fill my yard vac about 8 or so times for a couple weeks of leaves. That along with about 2 1/4 acres outside my yard and about 3/8 of a mile road side mowing. I usually do it all over a period of a few days so I'm not sure what the total amount of time is. I'm afraid to ask what it would cost for professionals to do it. I don't mind much though I usually enjoy doing it myself. Now if I can convince myself to hook the Bush hog up. I've got about 5-6 acres to cut.

I've got the older version of this and I love it. It works so well and I can do a clean up hours faster than traditional ways. I'd like the newer one like what you have but for now I'm happy to have what I do. I had to replace the engine last week unfortunately.
@Marksmisfitworld
@Marksmisfitworld 5 лет назад
Friend of mine has the older model also and he still uses everyweek for his cleanups.

@@Marksmisfitworld my biggest complain is that it doesn't hitch to the mower like yours. It's a 2 point hitch and has swivel tires so I can't make turns nearly as well as you can. I'm thinking about welding up my own hitch system for it
@Marksmisfitworld
@Marksmisfitworld 5 лет назад
@@justinbohall3860 that is what my friend did so he could move around better. You just have to pay attention closer to your turns so they not to tight and kink the how. But with the swivel wheels you have to pay attention not to swing into things with it. They both have good and bad points with them but they do make picking up leaves a lot easier.

@jonboyer4058
@jonboyer4058 3 года назад
How many times did you have to empty that? Does the DR mulch the leaves up pretty good? And what size trailer do you have to fit the DR and zero turn? I’m thinking of doing something similar

U think I have enough hp and I'm worried about shredding belts I been doin OK with mulch system and br.. 700.. Leaf plow setup
@Marksmisfitworld
@Marksmisfitworld 5 лет назад
The clam shell bagging system is about 3k. I have been talking about how many belts I have been going through with the Mower. It works out to a deck belt every 150 hours using the Scag belts. There has been others saying the same thing with their mowers. As soon as you put that bagging system on the mower starts eating belts. I will be trying out different aftermarket belts this next season to see which one will last the longest.

What model exactly is this?
@giannicarrero4516
@giannicarrero4516 2 года назад
What length of hose do you have installed? The 6' hose that came with it wont reach the deck but I'm wondering if I should go with an 8' or a 10'. My concern with the longer one is keeping it off the ground but also want to be able to make narrower left turns, what is your opinion?
@Marksmisfitworld
@Marksmisfitworld 2 года назад
I think it was an 8’ hose, I bought it from the Cyclone Rake site.

Do you include your fee at time of job done or a yearly package. Also do u get any complaints leaving debris till spring of next year?
@Marksmisfitworld
@Marksmisfitworld 5 лет назад
Everything we do depends on the customer. The only thing we do for this customer is a fall cleanup and spring cleanup. This job is a one time fee in the fall and also in the spring. There will not be much left for leaves when we go back to blow out the shrubs and flower beds and pick those up with our other mower.
@turdferguson8732
@turdferguson8732 5 лет назад
I understand you gotta do what the customer wants, but that seems like mulching would be the better option. 85% the results at 25% your effort.
@An11inchPenis
@An11inchPenis 5 лет назад
I try to do that as well but the leaves have to be dry. We have had like 5 dry days here in Michigan. If it's not raining then there is snow in the ground. Either or
@justinbohall3860
@justinbohall3860 5 лет назад
I honestly prefer using the DR. alot of my yards simply has too many leaves to mulch. If you try you end up with a thick bed of munched leaves smothering the soil.
@lawnman3638
@lawnman3638 5 лет назад
@@justinbohall3860 We take blowers to the mulch piles and spread it thin across the lawn. Can't say there is a yard we cannot mulch the leaves.
