I find really frustrating when a "funny" relative hears you practicing and they say "thanks god you are not a singer, you would starve" or "I thought I heard somebody dying and I came to check it out", it completely ruins the practice for me and makes me want to give up

You're doing great! I've been training for the past 5-ish years and I was more or less like you when I first started out. I was 27, and I'm sure it was neither late nor early for me so you have so many years to master whatever you want to master. Most important part is that keep yourself healthy and never give up 👍

My voice is as deep as yours. I'm 14 and I'm struggling like you did in the beginning. I thought I was the only one who wanted a higher voice. I get desperate everytime I practice singing. But knowing I'm not alone helps me a lot. You're my idol now:)

Why do you sound like that one guy in highschool that would always get the lead in the school musical. But all the other people in the musical are girls and you try to go out with a couple of girls in the musical but they all say we are just friends. But hey look at the bright side you can sing better then me.😂😂😂

As a music teacher, I’ll be honest with you, you have a wonderful voice but don’t over do it with the runs. You don’t have to do a run after almost every word or it’ll just sound weird. And be careful with the whistle tones because if not done properly they can really harm your vocal chords. Especially since you didn’t really do whistle tones, you were just sucking in air really hard and trying to sing while doing that. Whistle tones are done by releasing air not sucking in air. You have an amazing voice though! Practice your runs a little more and don’t over do them :) that’s my advice to you. Good luck :)

The trick to vocal runs is this. Use your ear.... not your mind. People tend to hear Christina Aguilera and get in the habit of THINKING how she does the vocal runs. She uses her ears, not her mind. Secondly, you do vocal runs with your lower abdomen. Like a stomach pushing out notes. You know you're doing them correctly if you feel your stomach vibrate. People like Ariana Grande who use their jaw to do vocal runs do them incorrectly.

OMG. Your journey is sooo inspiring. I actually just started my journey as well 7 months ago but I don't think I made that much progress yet but I have all the time in the world and I'm still young. Your video gives me hope. I'm a guy as well and I think I also have the most typical male vocal range / type which is Baritone and so I started struggling reaching high notes especially when puberty hit. I believe I was born with the gift of singing but just not as good as professionals. I used to sing only in tune and that's all, I didn't have vibrato, I couldn't do riffs and runs, and for most of my life, I only sang in my chest voice, hence I couldn't hit higher notes. I am also in the pursuit of reaching high notes and your video is just telling me to be patient because someday I will be able to do it to. In the course of those 7 months, I have managed to finally unlock my vibrato (I was so happy 😭) and now I am trying to have more control over it and do it in my higher and lower notes (and it's actually challenging). Simultaneously, I'm also starting to develop riffs and runs. UGH. I had and will always envy singers who can do those wonderful riffs and runs. For now, it's not good yet, they're pretty basic unlike the ones we hear from our favorite singers but I'm not worried. If I had managed to develop my vibrato, then I can develop riffs and runs as well. And along with the riffs and runs, I also started exercising my head voice. I mentioned that I only sang in my chest voice for most of my life (18 years & I'm 19 now) and I also felt alive when doing the head voice exercises. I'm sooo used to hearing my chest voice. Deep and so resonant to my chest and so it felt like using an ability I never knew I had it all this time. I just didn't get to practice sooner since I didn't know how to make it sound beautiful. I also exercise my riffs and runs to my head voice since I'm starting to use my head voice more often now. With falsetto though, I find it very challenging. I don't know how to develop it relying in RU-vid videos. I think I need help from a voice teacher with this one. Hearing your voice in this video, it makes me want to sing like you this very instant. I sooo envy you. I keep repeating those riffs and runs. They get me every time. 😭 I just want to say thank you for sharing your journey. You give me hope that it's not too late for my voice after all. I could only sing in tune but I can sing with vibrato now in just a course of 7 months. Imagine how I would improve years from now. 🤯 I really hope I can reach that vocal level you are in now. I just have to be patient and just continue making progress and gradually I'd be able to sing like you and all of my other favorite singers and their difficult songs to sing. HAHAHAHHAA Edit: Umm... Thid sums pretty much any passionate “singer” some people start with God given talent always a step ahead but some work hard to bring the talent out of themselves. When I started taking singing seriously I was obsessed with vibrato overlooking other important stuff pretty much like your high pitch thing so I get ya. When you start looking every aspect of singing and get the control, everything comes along with it. Especially vibrato lol. Lots and lots of practice. Good job! What an improvement.
