My name is Arslan and I've been living in vehicles for a few years. After some high ups and really low downs this past year, I'm now back to making videos again and showing you how I start from scratch in rebuilding my SUV into the ULTIMATE camper for full-time living, while also working a day job as a nurse.

Dont forget a carbon monoxide alarm, and if the fumes from the diesel are at all noticeable or apparent id even consider finding a way of mounting it outside of the vehicle. Long term exposure to diesel/gasoline and it’s fumes is not good at all. Great to have you back and appreciate what you do!

The trucking company I work for has over 250 trucks all with diesel heaters, The fuel comes from the tanks. We have never had an issue with CO2 in over 20+ years. Our new Freightliner Cascadias have auto start and I asked a driver how he liked it and he was able to shut his truck off even during the polar vortex with temputures way below 0F.

Arsalan, You have such determination to make life go for you. As they say when Life throws lemons at you, make lemonade... That's what I see in you. You are amazing & inspiring. You are showing people it can be done... some sit down & have a pity party & look for a hand out. Grant you some, especially women with children certainly need the help but you are showing if one has the will power.... you can make it... don't forget to give God all the Glory though bc His Word says "We live and move and have our being in Him." I am retired & love watching your channel.❤.... The progress is amazing!!👍

Oh! When I was homeless I used cans of STERNO to keep warm during a blizzard that hit NC around 9 years ago! It got down to 4-degrees and I was in a two-person tent. Worked wonders and probably kept me alive! Try it out! Find them in camping isles and portable cooking areas at stores! Cheap and they burn super hot for hours!

New Sub here, just loving your videos. I'm so jealous, you are living the life! I am also an RN. I work in Cardiac OR in Canada 🇨🇦. I do lots of on call for emergency surgery and have slept in my van many times post call instead of driving 1/2 home when I'm exhausted. I actually just slept in my van in my hospital parking lot this past Friday after an emergency left main CABG. I have a super comfy air mattress and a -30C sleeping bag with my favorite pillow. So cozy!!!My van is a Ford Freestar 2004!!! Yes you heard that right, 20 years old...her name is Ginger 😅. I bought her off a friend for car camping and a road trip to Baja California. My goal is to get licensed in USA and do some travel nursing through the states 🇺🇸 Keep the videos coming, very refreshing and distracting from these crazy days in Canada 🇨🇦 Cheers!

my favorite content creator is back ❤ I got a couple suggestions, let me know what you think 1. I think you should paint the back of the suction cups. around 16:52 it looks like there are spots that light can easily pass through. so someone could look in, or if you’re hanging out in there at night with the lights on, there would be “light spots” on your window. 2. at 22:41 do you see the open space between the pipe and hole? that would let a lot of cold air in. it might be good to put some caulk, or some insulator in there

Welcome back, it’s great to have your positive energy on the screen again 👍 Going to a diesel heater is a massive win, great heat output and most importantly it means you don’t need to sit there idling your main engine to create heat - you don’t want to do that really, it’s not good for it. So it’s good that you won’t need to! Those units are generally a long black rectangle shape, it looks like they’ve built it into a welding machine housing, with the tank on top. If you needed, you might be able to take the heater and tank out of the housing and fit them into the car in a way that took up less space, perhaps putting the fuel tank on the end to make it easier to fill through the boot, or for example you could relocate the control panel as I presume you’re going to build some sort of unit over this, so the panel could be accessible on the outside of the unit. I would cut a bigger hole in the wood floor around the exhaust - they get VERY hot. I know you already use a carbon monoxide alarm, please make sure you always have it working when the heater is running as I have seen these kill people in their sleep. Otherwise I look forward to seeing how your build goes, the last build in that car was great!

So glad to see you back in the suburban! I was sort of surprised you didn’t just use the build you had in it before, but looks like your new plans will be really neat. 💡💝Regarding the suction cups, I discovered that it’s easier to install, and place them on the window covering piece and to put on the window by putting the suction cups in the corners instead of in the middle of the window covering. For me, I think they’re less visible and it’s easier to use my fingers to remove them from the window. Well that’s my 2¢ worth of information. 👍🤩💝

Reflektors inside of a window don't do their job properly, anyways. He said, he wants more isolation, and therefore the paint is helping. But, the best thing for him would be reflectice window foil for outside app, imho. AND, like you said, foam board inside. I have reflectix outside of my windows, and the glass really stays cool, even on very hot summer days. Inside they were pretty much useless. I learned that the hard way :D)))

Great to see you again, the new SUV design looks well thought out. I have one question, the air intake and the exhaust, are they designed so that you are not taking in air tainted with exhaust? Also keeping the fuel inside the vehicle, how will you avoid breathing the fumes while you sleep? You got so much done in this video, I can’t wait for the next installment. Changing subjects: how is the nursing job going? What kind of unit are you working in? Have you told people about the van? What climate (state) are you in?…. It’s obvious you truly enjoy what you are doing.
@tezeroth4905
@tezeroth4905 10 месяцев назад
Nah he should not have any fumes because diesel doesnt produce fumes like gasoline does, and the air intake and exhaust underneath are for the combustion of the diesel so that air should never reach the inside of the vehicle.
@ricebike
@ricebike 10 месяцев назад
Yeah, route the air intake tube towards the driver side (and maybe towards the front seat) since we saw his exhaust pointing towards the passenger side (parallel to the muffler)

Wow, this is cool! We have a 2005 Suburban that we've built into a camper. It's only for occasional use, but we sleep 2 adults and 2 dogs, and have gone out camping up to 4 days (we plan longer trips next year). Our layout is similar to yours (kitchen behind the front seats, fold-up mattresses in the back with platform extensions to get full length at night, solar panels). We added wall storage on one side of the back, similar to Suboverland's side storage. We permanently blocked one door so we could add another kitchen cabinet (and we've found there's a lot of storage for flatter things just inside that door, hanging off the back of that cabinet). We don't have adequate heat, for winter camping so I'm interested to see how the diesel heater works out for you.

It's great to see you back and to know you're doing well. I glas you were able to get your engine fixed. As for the design, you might want to rethink the location of the toilet. It should go at the foot of the bed and away from cabinets. It's like you are pooping in your kitchen. Of course you do what works for you. I can't wait to see the end results.

Hey! It's good to see your up and about. Just curious as to why you mounted the heater width-wise. I would've mounted it lengthwise to heat up the space faster.

Hmmm that space behind the unit is the air intake for inside the camper... My suggestion if keeping it that way is to route a duct from the front passenger side and under the bed so it will make more flow within that tiny space Just like in a sticks and bricks home, you have intake vents through the walls of a home with central HVAC systems

Your installation of the diesel heater was very useful and interesting, showing how to drill holes (awesome camera placement) through your vehicle for intake air and exhaust pipes. For anyone unaware, be sure to inspect the exterior exhaust pipe opening for blockages (ice, dirt, debris). Especially camping in a snow or ice storm, the exhaust pipe can form icicles blocking the output. I'd inspect the exterior pipes frequently and keep the openings clear, when it's an imminent risk of getting blocked and backing up deadly exhaust into the interior.

I’m so happy you are back! Question:why didn’t you just use the window coverings from before when you used this van?

Yeah I'm a bit confused why the whole van seems to have been torn down, I don't think much at all was used in the Camaro so... maybe he wanted a new design? But yeah not sure why re-doing the windows, those coverings surely will be exactly the same as before? :/

@@joshuadalton6063 I read the description now, and it says that he is showing us how he is building it from scratch. So that explains it.
