If you use apple cider vinegar instead of white vinegar with the steel wool, it makes it a pretty grey color.

Another suggestion is to make sponges 🧽 . You have made sponges in a previous video, but this one is slightly different. You can use up all the little threads and very small scraps. The more the merrier. I used an old pair of jeans and used up bathroom towels, cut up to squares, rectangles or what ever shape in a sponges size (you choose according to the amount of textile you have left as long as they are both the same size) you sew them wrong sides together leave a small gap to flip it inside out and then you just stuff it with all those small pieces of scraps, threads and bits of textile that would otherwise go in the bin or compost and to finish, just sew the hole closed 😉👍🏻

Lovely ideas for DIY projects. I have been using some of my scraps for making masks for donation and for my family as we now advised to use them whenever we are out in public. I also show my students how to make pompoms the same way, that way when they are home and in need of a craft, it’s easy to simply use your fingers and some yarn. I do like the idea of the natural stain, though I’m betting that the smell is not very pleasant-imagining a mixture of rust and vinegar-not a happy place for my nose! I also wanted to thank you for the additional soundscape videos this week. They are a lovely break when one is needed, although the birds have been very busy here in Northern California where spring arrived weeks ago. Now it is warm enough to open the windows pretty much every day to listen to them sing and to smell the orange blossoms right outside my kitchen window-things I am able to enjoy much more now that I am home. I do have to say that I miss my work environment too, our Waldorf school is on 22 acres on the banks of the American River. We also have a farm with a couple of acres of gardens and animals. It is truly an oasis and I miss coming down the hill every day to see the beauty that I am so lucky to work in. I look forward to the time when the land will ring with the voices of the children again as they play and learn, and we can come together to do our work. Be well, sending greetings and best wishes from the west coast of N America.

Happy Easter! Yes, please... more crafts, more diys, more trash to treasure. If you've never seen the homemade pumpkin, you'd love it. A large square or circle of fabric, lay it flat. Put a pile of polyfil on it. Make a hole in the middle of it. Pull the fabric up and into the hole. Shove a stick down into it. Glue the fabric to the stick or take jute and wrap it around the pumpkin, securing the stick in place. Keep safe and be well.

Well done!! Really neat to see the different ways to make and use stuff, that's lying around the house. I for one would love to see more shows like this from you. Thanks for sharing!! By the way...I lived in County Kerry Ireland for a year, many years ago. Ireland is such a magically beautiful place. I miss it dearly. Though, watching your video enables me to feel a bit of that connection again. Thank you for all the work you do. I love (and remember well) that lyrical Irish accent that I use to encounter when I lived there; hearing it always made my day. Yours is lovely, as well. :)

Okay, bravo on using a traditional saw. I'm too intimidated by power-saws so I chose to use a hand-saw for a project and wow... all that physical labor and time for a shoddy edge that needed to be touched up by a power saw anyway 😂

I've begun working with polymer clay a lot lately... which has left me with a lot of little leftover bits & slivers that I didn't want to throw away but didn't know what to do with. In my area, liquid hand soap has become extremely hard to find (yes, I know I should be making my own, I'm working on it! LOL) but I have a lot of bar soap put away; when the liquid soap in one bathroom ran out, I took a bunch of the little bits of polymer clay & rolled them into long thing ropes, then twisted different-colored ropes around each other, rolled those out smooth, and began folding them back & forth on each other like the old "Indian baskets" I remembered from grade school. Using a box from a bar of soap as my ruler/template, I made a "plate" and then built up an edge around it with more ropes of clay, baked it in the oven, and gave it a couple of light coats of polyurethane. Voila, a (not beautiful) but more-than-good-enough soap dish! (Next time I'll make the sides a bit higher, on this version they're only about 1/8 of an inch high and the soap tends to escape.) I also made a small bowl for spare change using the same method, and that now sits happily by the front door... and I still have a plastic sandwich bag full of clay scraps, but now I know I can use them for something constructive!

Beautiful beautiful video! I love your channel. 💕 Quick tip: I would recommend if anyone is making the shelves this way to only place extremely light items on them (def nothing with sentiment value), and to not make the cubes much bigger than this. Otherwise, it would be better to use an anchor, bracket, or support of some kind, cuz depending on what you put on the shelves, the weight/size of the wood, etc. it can fall out of the wall (or lose its center balance, slide and swing on the nail, breaking all the lovely items that were on them.) It'd be a shame to lose what may be precious, fragile, delicate items and family heirlooms for some, placed on those shelves. 🖤

Yes! You can use a picture hanging kit and hang hooks or a wire on the back, or simply use two weight bearing nails in the wall instead of one central nail which can easily be knocked of balance and cause your bottles to fall and shatter.
