I imagine someone could get out of bounds 4 times total which may be quicker than jumping off the trees. That would be super impressive to watch for the gameover% run.
I'd imagine that the reason why you don't count non-Main Stages in the All Coins Run is because non-Main Stages don't have a counter to track if all the Coins were collected.
Blindfolded Super Mario 64 runs are mind-blowing, Bubzia and Nobori are amazing! Bubzia has almost collected all 120 stars blindfolded, and another great runner to check out is CZR, who plays Super Mario 64 using a drumset as a controller!

I got some challenges to propose: (All 70 stars) No Pain, No Gain: You have to restart the level every time you take damage until you get 70 stars without getting hit. You can full reset the game if you want, but it's not mandatory. (It's an easier version of the damageless challenge Simply did.) Pacifist mode: Go the full game without killing anyone. Bowser is the only exception given he doesn't die anyways. Textless: Ignore every star that forces you to wait for any mandatory dialogue. Basically boiling down to no bossfights that have a talking boss except Bowser, no Toad/Mips Stars, no Koopa races, and no using the cannon or Owl/Monkey cage stars. 100 coins/Cap text doesn't count toward this rule. (Counting everything, this leaves 99 possible stars.) No first objectives: Skip every single first star in each level. Offering this many in chronological level order: 5, 5, 1, 4, 5, 6, 6, 6, 5, 6, 6, 5, 6, 6, and 6 plus 15 castle stars. Totaling 88 possible stars.
A new category that should be added is Radical Right%. This speedrun category has you "doing it right" instead of "doing it fast", and you must speedrun Mario 64 like a capitalist instead of a communist, so you must do a 120 star run without glitches, also known as "100% Glitchless". In this category, you will abandon the "fastest Mario" sexual archetype, and instead opt for the superior "Petersonion" sexual archetype. 1/14. Edit-It looks like people missed the reference.

I really love category extensions, really give big twists to normal runs! Btw, some of those category extensions are also in work by blindfolded runners! Quick note: 15:15 he doesn't use the sound of the piranha plant, he knows he has to get to that corner to ledge grab, and then he proceeds with the old sockfolder setup (the first one that was ever found for visual runs).
I just came up with a new category. All Trees. You have to climb up and backflip off every tree in the game. You start with 0 stars so you'll have to collect some along the way.
1. menu %: you start the game menu and press every single button in the menu 2. mips %: get the 3 stars from mips as fast as possible 3. toad %: get the 3 stars from talking to toad as fast as possible 4. Level %: enter every single level in the game then immediately jumping back out 5. tree %: climb on every tree in the game 6. cap %: collect all 3 caps AND their stars (somewhere over the rainbow also count) 7. door % : open every door as fast as possible 8. death %: die in every single level
My favorite category extension definitely has to be blindfolded SM64. It is so impressive to watch runners like Bubzia and Nobori play the game without being able to see. I wish there was a category where you defeat all bosses and win all 3 character races in one though.
Imagine what it must be like as the mother penguin in cool cool mountain. You just see a fat Italian man careening at you at light speed with your baby in hand.
When will "Copy your 100% save file you just made for the beginning of the run% Glitchless" be attempted? (Note: beating final browser in any of the save files is not required. But it can only be done on 3D allstars since the BLJ is patched and glitches are not allowed in this run. Resetting the game is also not allowed so getting a SINGLE game over is required. Its also recommended to have the camera to be classic since its what speed runners are used to.) I think this meme speedrun would probably take as long as I beaten the game 100% (I have had the game since last year and beaten SM64 100% it a few months ago) and unlocking Luigi is banned.
About the unique coins, I find it odd that red and blue coins count as 2 and 5 respectively. When counting coins like in THI, what matters in terms of work, it's how many coins there are. The most coins are in BOB and another stage, THI only has the highest value in coins.
Speedrun Idea: Super Mario Millionaire: Collect 1,000,000 coins. Repeated coins are allowed, so you can replay a level with a ton of coins multiple times.
Thats awesome Weege got the world relly in 10xCannonless!! Props to him. It takes a massive grind to get the World Relly in _any_ category let alone one of the most practiced tricks in one of the most competitive speedrunning games!
How about a speedrun where you have to die once in each main stage, with subcategories including substages and then another also including every hub world "area"
