Thanks for sharing this review! I got the same model/size/color about a month ago, too and it was great to hear your experience for comparison. I'm also 5'8" but heavier (200lbs) and I found the Canyon S-size to be perfect for me and also kep the handlebars at its narrowest setting. I agree with you 100% that this bike is FAST. My previous bike was an endurance bike, and on this Aeroroad my average speed has gone up. I know what you mean about the wheels being really loud when you're just coasting. I definitely don't need a bell to announce myself when I'm passing. I'm glad you like the bike. Overall, I pretty happy with the bike as well. The colors initially were a bit loud for me, but they grew on me as well. Happy riding!
I had a major problem that you might want to investigate with your local bike shop. I dropped the chain, no big deal until it jammed the 2nd time it happened. Apparently, Canyon applies an aluminum plate on the drive side chain stay. This plate is glued on in some sort of manner. What happened is that the heat affected the glue, and an edge of the plate caught the chain, causing the entire plate to come undone and get tangled in the chain. End result is that I had to walk for 3 miles home, go to my local bike shop, that I used to race for, and have a mechanic discover the problem. Other end result is that the chain cut through the paint and clearcoat, marring the finish. I am really pissed.
Yes it would be. The Madone in the US is around 8,000USD. That is why the Canyon was so appealing. Whatever you get, I hope that you are as happy with your purchase as I am mine.
If you have a hard time reaching the shifters from the drops I would suggest adjusting the reach on them. You can bring them closer to the handlebar and make it easier to reach them, gives better control and what not. (If you haven't already done so by now ofc)
That is good first impression video. I"m looking to buy these canyon but with mechanical ultegra. I finally get into speed that satisfying me so I want to change from 600 dolar bike to these model. I"m little beat scepical about electrnoic groupset and reliability
I was just as skeptical as you at first. Fortunately i had a gew friends that had just the bike and said thst they would never go bsck. I habe hsd mine for 4 months now and have a few thousand miles of riding and would tell you the same. I would personally take an elected 105 over a mechanical ultegra anyday. Personally i prefer SRAM but with these bikes you take what you can get. Hope that helps. Let me know how you end up going. PS: SRAM have removable batteries. I always carry a spare but have never had to use one even when battery level was very low. Bike shifted just fine. The front derailure would appear to use more power than the rear. Shimano does not have removable batteries. My friends charge their bike in the garage and never been left without power.
@@markzebr6463 thanks. Now I think it's more worth to pay extra for electric groupset. I have 6 thousand for bike. I'm also considering Trek madone 6 or maybe pay more for sl7 , giant probel advent pro and these canyon. Personally I fell in love with canyon. I'm also in Europe so prices are maybe little bit better
Good video…what is the sizing like? ..reason I ask…my first bike was budget road bike but got size xxl as I’m 6ft4..however per canyon I’m size large…bit skeptical going from xxl to large
Canyon tend to be pretty good in their recommendations. General rule when not sure, go small. Also, bear in mind that parts can be exchanged if necessary and the entire bike returned within 30 days. Let me know how things go
I have the Di2 version of this model, and I like it very much, esthetics and all, but apart from being really noisy when freewheeling, it also has an extremely unstable front, which, unlike the noise, is very dangerous, especially in cases of heavy wind gusts, crosswinds, or heavy trucks passing you by downhill or rough road surface, and it's a real nightmare when all these are combined. So I'm usually forced to descend like a granny with it. When the 25 mm front tire gets worn out enough, I'll definitely change it with a 28 mm one to see if it brings any stability to the bike.
Thanks for watching. Your observations are dead on. Here is the bad news. The front wheels are very deep, even more so on the rear, of which will make the front very unstable. If it is causing you problems, the better solution is a mire shallow wheel. Even the Pros dont use this wheelset as its very hard to do tasks that force them to remove their hands from the bars.
I put 28mm in the front, and tubeless 30mm on the rear wheel. it def feels more stable when decending after the change or passing from shallow pits. (3000miles in that 28mm GP5000, it still not wearing out!)
Interesting about your experience on the continental tires. I have used GP 4000 & 5000 since 2016 - not a single flat or any other problem for that matter.
If you're running tubes you GOTTA run the regular GP5000s not the GP5000 S TRs (tubeless). The regular ones are cheaper, have more puncture protection, they're way easier to get on and off, and they're only 1 watt slower.
Too many friends of whom have had terrible experiences with tubless. Going to stick with Vittoria clinchers. Rarely have problems. Thanks for the info.
@edgarestrada1146 glad someone agrees with me. Have no interest in tubeless. Experiences with friends is that if a tubeless flats, there is no fixing and end up calling Lft to pick you up.
My bigger problem is the right brake hood, replaced it twice already. I have replaced the power meeter once. Enjoy your ride and thanks for reaching out.
Good question...I would consult Canyon. I will tell you this. The Aeroad is a very powerful bike and I feel that it is not for the casual rider. I really beleive that the appropriate rider fir it all the top 5% in your area. If you are very strong, you will be stronger and dangerous. If not, you may have trouble muscling along. If that is the case, the Ultimate may be the better choice. Hope that helps.

I have had no issues nor anyone else I know with a 2022 or 2023 model year frame. However I have had issues with creaking noise that I though might be seat post related that turned out to be a loose crank arm or bottom bracket.
