What a brilliant idea. 30 minutes of gentle rowing. It's a workout for the days when you can't be bothered working out. The minutes fly by and at points I actually felt connection with technique, the 500m split dropped by 5 seconds with no effort
So. I’m going to be brutally honest with you. When I heard the classical music at the start of this worked out I was hesitant. However, I found that it really did relax me. It was enjoyable. Thank you for exposing me to a new experience. Keep up the great work!
4/7/2023 Thanks Coach Shane 🎉 I am so jazzed! I got my sis-in-law to try rowing! Her rower arrived last week and my brother set it up for her! Of course, she tried some of your youtube sessions during her last visit--she is on her way! Woot!🎉
Exactly what I needed... I wasn’t going to work out today until I saw this. So, thank you! I’ll save and keep coming back for an end of the day workout :-)
Great addition to the available workouts on RU-vid. Something a little longer, but lighter and geared towards recovery - this will be one I turn to frequently.
The best workout I’ve done in a while! And more specifically, the best ergometer workout I’ve done in more than 25 years! I used to row in high school and I used to compete in ergometer competitions. I came in top 10 a few times! I’ve been doing your beginner videos for a few weeks now and I’m feeling myself get stronger and faster. Thank you! ❤
10/20/2023 I have joined the DHCrew, but wasn't sure if this workout was in the listing. It is still my favorite Friday workout. ❤ Thank you Coach Shane. ☺️
Just got into rowing a month or ago, and I have been using this drak horse channel exclusively to build a foundation. This is a great channel, and this was an awesome workout.
Shane, you rock! Totally what I needed, what I need, what I continue to need. I just imagined out was out for a paddle on the Charles River, spun it around just before the Elliot Pedestrian bridge, swung wide over by BU, and then a burst through the Mass Ave bridge, and paddled it home. I imagined all those afternoon rows as a Novice Rower....
Finals week for me, did this after a really hard exam and actually feel super rejuvenated, ready to go and hit the books again! I felt like I kept slightly speeding up as the workout continued, preciate it Shane!!
This will be perfect when I get home from lifting at the gym. I overdid it the other day and did a more strenuous row after a hard lifting day. Felt horrible for the whole next day. I look forward to it, thanks!
Great one for a Monday morning too. Zero motivation to row today but saw this and figured why not. Settled in to a comfy 1:58-1:59 pace and got to trucking. 7586m at 1:58.6 pace and over 600 cal burned. Wicked!
This was such a nice workout and likely one of the most enjoyable 30 minutes I've spent on the rower so far. Going to save this one and come back to it again and again.
Friday 2/3/2023 I.L💙VED.this today. Just what I needed. Making me think of what it will be like once I have a real rowing craft and can row on real water 💦early some morning while it is still. I can hardly wait. Goals. This episode also was perfect today as I get prepped for our weekly Sabbath. Shalom!💙
Shane, great, great workout! Thank you a lot! I did it after 60 minutes of interval pyramid and some 20 min rest. The coolest and smoothest 8000+ metres in my life ( with warmup and cooldown)! If I row by myself and a PM, I always push hard. You helped me to discover how peaceful and smooth rowing can be. This 30 minutes passed as a rocket. Wonderful thing, like a meditation. Rowing is the most beautiful sport on the Earth! I think, that if I wanted to row a marathon, this would be the pace for me.
I love these workouts. Tried going from intermediate to this and I had nothing the last 1:30 but was so glad I stuck with it. Cannot wait until I can do these advanced ones!
Great workout for a Sunday morning after a hard workout on Saturday. Maybe mix the music a bit. I love the Clementi Sonata, but the repeated loop got a little monotonous. Thanks for the great workouts and all the inspiration.
Thanks for this workout. Wanted to keep it simple with one exercise machine that would cover upper and lower body. Opened our new Concept 2 for home gym this 11 January and have enjoyed your various 30 and 20 minute workouts. It feels like a private rowing class between Zoom meetings. Your tips have helped me improve a lot - my current benchmark is 21min 30sec for 5K so good to have lots of room for improvement - even if goal is mostly to enjoy and maintain/improve fitness as a 58 year old. This is a great complement to our daily home youtube Yoga and our 3x beach runs.
Great 30min chill row. My only comment is that I kinda felt like I was on hold with the cable company. Maybe some chill electro music next time? Hehe. I typically do this type of row with a towel on my monitor so I can truly just mellow in my thoughts and music.
If I could post photos I would show you the sunset here in China Macau SAR. Thanks! Wondering if you have workouts for people that do it “despacito” to avoid injuries what should be a start up? Like this recovery?
I'm pretty new to rowing and just got a C2 recently, and I'm curious what kind of range of settings people use for their resistance, what drag factors they have, the distance they went in the 30 minutes. Anyone willing to share some of their ERG data? I had my fan set to 10, had a drag factor of 231, 597 strokes, average force of 114 lb, and went 6626m.
What a fabulous workout! I'm new to rowing and love these videos. Were they coming to arrest you at the 17 min mark because I definitely saw police red lights... LOL! Also, WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR JACKET?!
do you ever row in lifters? what's your go to footwear? Also my grandparents would very much approve of this music to the stuff I usually listen to as I workout lol
Hello Shane, May I ask you a few questions? I recently started rowing, and your videos have been amazingly helpful. Thank you so much. I do a 20min beginner workout (Stroke Rate 18, with drills every 2 min) and a 20min HIIT (4 intervals of 5 mins, each 5 minute is broken down to 2min at SR16,18,20,22, 1min at SR 24,26,28,30, 2min at SR16,18,20,22). I also watched your video where you mentioned that rowing twice a week is the optimal for improvement. I was wondering if there is any risk / downside about rowing say, 5 times a week? I played soccer at varsity level and was hoping to combine the daily 20min warmup and 20min HIIT with shorter soccer training during the winter season. Do you have any suggestions? I was thinking about picking different combinations of rowing workouts, i.e., maybe on some days I just do a different set of rowing workouts to balance between high intensity and recovery. Thank you so much.
I am not Shane, but what you asked for shouldn‘t be a problem. 2 times per week for improvement doesn‘t mean you cant do chilled sessions on other days. Since you seem to be pretty fit already, you could up your sessions, most important thing is to listen to your body and probably program one day off, so you got time to recover.
@@lululx3760 Thanks! Yeah, I listen to my body to modify my training. I was just curious since I am relatively new to this machine. I might check out one of those 30 minutes of just rowing every 2 days to recover. Thanks for your input!
5110m. Funny, when I decided to push my intensity and HR into the red zone on my monitor, it looked like red light flashing in your garage gym. About halfway through. Perhaps your wife was signaling or something. Anyway. Great working. Thanks for the follow-along full warmup to cooldown!
I’m in Elcajon and very new to this so if want to shoot a video of me rowing and use me to critique for learning purposes for your viewers let’s do this
Separating out the specific parts and tools for each of the seven step assembly process steps was brilliant on the part of the manufacturer. For the price, I am impressed at how sturdy this ru-vid.comUgkxvObaTzoHoHQLL4lHbJQmExHqsrZQm-f7 unit is and it does go together easily. Well, I was puzzled at first at Step 5 and maybe the instructions should mention that rail #62 needs to be tilted upwards a little to get the rail to fit into the main part #44. I like it that the rower can be stored vertically in a really small amount of space, but be forewarned that this rower is top heavy and for safety you'll need at least two bungee cords to keep the unit upright, attaching them to something; in my case to a third garage door. I have had this unit only a short time, and I will post an update once I've had it for a year. As for working your legs, I have to admit that I'm mainly rowing for upper body strength and I use other forms of exercise for leg strength (like walking fast, biking, or using a trampoline. But if you pull as far forward as possible, then you can give preference to your legs for the first 4 feet or so of travel. I also admit to not taking the two electronic connectors apart at Step 7. I simply inserted the two batteries while the other parts remained connected. By the way, there is plenty of resistance here, even in the lowest resistance settings. Kudos to Sunny Health & Fitness !
