If we throw out graphics entirely, the N64 had slim pickings for racing games! PS1 all the way it's not even attempting to be a competition. Nothing close to as deep as Grand Turismo, Colin McRae Rally etc on the N64. And honestly...i'd take crash team racing over Mario Kart 64 any day of the week and I'll die on that hill. Wipeout > Fzero as well and I freakin' LOVE that game. Really enjoyed this - brought me back to my childhood a little bit not gonna lie - I'm kind of biased though so throw out everything I say 😂
I disagree that mega man looks and plays better than Mario 64, I mean sure they try to do more but come one. Draw distance and graphical issues plague it.
Agreed with most things here but LOL how did you manage to end up preferring San Fransisco Rush on PS1 over the N64??? The N64 one is far closer to the arcade in terms of visual quality and it's driving physics and models. PS1 version is universally accepted as the weaker and lower quality port because of how much is changed and downgraded compared to the arcade.
This is hilarious. I'm starting to think this reviewer tries to be next AVGN. At least there's a good laugh, with jokes all over the place . For example, just to name couple: That game shown on right side at the 3.10 is not Top Gear Overdrive, or even F1 World Grand Prix. What the heck is it then? Well, it certainly is much inferior F1 Racing Championship. Wip3out at 1998? -Yeah right! It was released full year after F-Zero X... What surprises me is that if there are people who actually have working PSX, with that authentic texture warping & pixelation. Heck, i spend whole yesterday swearing while trying to get R4 run on my PS2. (It eventually did, after i placed PS2 upside down and constantly boot the console on like 200 -times). -Keep up the funny work!
I own 2 San Francis Rush arcade machines and I can tell you the n64 port is very close to the real thing, control wise can’t compare though, the arcade machine have a clutch pedal and the force feedback let you know when you are loosing grip feels , can’t replicate that with a controller, the rubber banding it’s too much though, but to the point of this video, the ps1 port is garbage compared to the real thing and compared to the n64 port
The Dreamcast version of Hydro Thunder has two disadvantages to the N64 version. 1. The N64 version has a quick race restart function. The Dreamcast version requires you to go to the main menu and select your boat and track again. 2. Load times are pretty bad on the Dreamcast. Probably not PS1 bad, tho. That's pretty much it. Dreamcast version is better in almost every other way. Hell, it's even cheaper to acquire than the N64 version for some reason.
There are more disavantages, like DC lacks two game modes added to PS1, and it lacks 4 player split screen from N64. The main menu also looks terrible on DC.
Also, although I agree ps1 graphics aged better, you never mention texture warp and poly clipping as hurting ps1 graphics. If you only compare texture quality, then yea ps1 will win every time.
