This episode should have been called "The languages John Green has taken classes on, feat. alchol."

You missed the best one. There was a man ironically named John Sober who purchased the Mount Gilboa Plantation/Distilleries in Barbados, and had his trusted friend Sir John Alleyne manage it. Sir John was so good at running the company that they decided to name the company (and the mount) after him after his death in 1801. They would have named it Mount Alleyne, but there was already one in Barbados, so they used John's middle name... and called it Mount Gay. The rum brand bears that name to this day.

Jack Daniel lived in Lynchburg, Tennessee, not Kentucky. It literally says it on the bottle. Also, he did not create the whiskey, a freed slave did and after tasting it, Daniel made him master distiller at his company. Fun fact: Jack Daniel's real name was Jasper Newton Daniel and he died of blood poisoning after kicking his safe, breaking his toe, and refusing to seek treatment. I literally live in Lynchburg, I was required to know these things in school.

Although they hold the DSP-TX-S-1 there is evidence of multiple distilleries being open during the Confederacy and also during the time of Independence distilling was common place and legal

John, I love you, there is no tilde above the "n" in habanero. The reason is that "Habanero" literally means "from Havana" just as Jalapeño literally means "from Jalapa". A lot of times in spanish when you have a person or thing originating from a location, you take off the last vowel and switch it with "eño", like a person from Puerto Rico being called Puertorriqueño (also lets not forget they need our help). However, like most things in Spanish, there are many exceptions. When the last consonant of the location is an "n", we don't add "eño" because saying Havaneño is really awkward to pronounce. Instead, "ero" is added (and the v becomes a b because they sound similar in Spanish). Please stop spreading this false pronunciation of habanero. It comes from a good place, in which people are trying to be respectful of Spanish culture and language, but instead they are just being wrong.

What you left out with Bacardi is that Facundo Bacardi was one of Fidel's bank rollers. He started getting concerned with Fidel's ways, and opened office in Puerto Rican as an escape plan. It was under the guise of easier access to US. After Fidel threatened to take the company, he shut down and moved initially to Puerto Rico. Then later the international HQ moved to the Bahamas. In short, Bacardi helped fund the revolution. With the slack that brought, he managed to make Bacardi the most popular rum in US. In reality, they were third popular in Cuba after Matusalem and the original Havana Club (which Bacardi owns recipe rights and now brand rights).

We don't really believe it. But I am a direct descendant of an archbishop (he was Catholic because at that time it was only catholicism, and priests remaining single hadn't yet become a thing). Uuummm, so that description you gave of the beer contest is preeeetty much exactly how booze is judged today. 85-89 points Bronze, 90-94 Silver, 95+ Gold. The medals have nothing to do with any order, so a bronze medal on a bottle in no way means it was judged third best wine even in its category, let alone the show. In fact, anything below 85 is considered faulty or flawed, so for a wine that scores 86, pretty much all the bronze medal is saying is 'not broken; drinkable'.

The Booze Company made whiskey in a log cabin appearing container, in honor of honest Abe, without his permission. Still, it was exceedingly popular, with folks saying, "Gimme some booze." They lost the trademark, if they ever had it and now it's an informal referrent. The Hooch indians collected the liquid from the top of fermenting bread dough and drank it. Now it's an even more informal referrent.
