Our favorite food forest tour yet! Peter Kring’s botanical collection of rare tropical fruits might just leave you feeling a little bit envious. This 40acre paradise at Finca La Isla in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica has it all: durian, mangosteen, jackfruit hybrids, cacao, Salak (snake fruit) & 200 more edible species.
If you didn’t get the chance to watch our first video with Peter; featuring his process of turning cacao fruit into chocolate bars: • How To Make Chocolate:...
Peter Kring is the genius behind Finca La Isla Permaculture Farm & Nursery & is also the heart & soul behind Talamanca Chocolate.

When I started watching your videos (30 day challenge,) I would watch on a tablet during a tea break in the garden, and they would get me all inspired to get back to 'work' quick-smart! ... Now when I see you (or Mel) have uploaded a video, I get excited and look forward to watching it, 'I will save that for later', because it is not tea break stuff anymore, it is stuff to fully immerse yourself in on a big screen and start propagating those Green Dreams! You have replaced TV!!! Not that I watched telly ... but now I have a reason to put the 'big screen' on of an evening! I am watching this one tonight, and looking forward to it with bells on!! This series is rocking the world! 🌱👊 Grow on GreenDreaming brother! 🙏

In Malay language, the root word is 'PULAS' means 'Twist'. To eat it you'll need to use both of your hands holding the top and bottom of the fruit and twist to peel. That's why its called pulasan - the act of twisting. Rambutan root word is 'RAMBUT' means Hair therefore, rambutan means HAIRY. and DURIAN comes from the word 'DURI' means Thorn, therefore DURIAN means Thorny. The method to peel a mangosteen is not by peeling its skin but to simply hold the fruit in between the palm and clench it thus squeezing gently so that the fruit will naturally open to reveal its flesh. These fruits are seasonal. Nice vidz :-)

I'm learning Permaculture principles and practices watching your videos. I just got 20 acres in the Willamette valley and I heard the word Permaculture for the first time last year as I was packing to move to Oregon from Alaska. As you might have guessed I have a lot to learn. This place has a lot of lawn but no food. I'm going to build a Permaculture Paradise here, thanks for sharing the knowledge.

Consider purchasing a wireless microphone for your camera. Having the super cardioid shotgun is great but when you turn away we lose the voice. If your guests are up for wearing a lapel mic I think it would really free up the camera man to do more panoramic shots while the farmer is talking about the area.

11219tt yes we are looking into those. This trip was a real learning experience film wise, I used all types of new equipment. Just before leaving I bought the new rode video mic pro, it's great but yes only if it's pointed directly at its subject. It won't happen again:)

Pete Kanaris GreenDreamsFL right on. Yea I don’t know too much about video audio. I worked at guitar center for 2 years which is where I learned what I know. I spent the last 10 years working in a professional recording studio doing music, so my audio recording knowledge is huge :) I do think your video recording quality has gone up. I always like the drone birds eye stuff. Audio is a tricky one especially out in the field...anything can happen. Keep up the good work! And look forward to the future vids.

4:35 .. i just cant comprehend the tenacity of THAIs Durian farmer that pluck thier durian before they ripen... heck i even tried once of thier durians every now and then and yea... pluck durian taste like car tyre. and they are not cheap either... . even thou they have Huuuugeeeeeee plantations and vast variety of duriann... why cant just the fruits ripens up nicely.... its madness... very dissapointed with them again and again..... the reasons i taste thier durians every now and then is to know if they change thier practice or not.. and yet... they still dont... NOW... i plant my own durians with mixed variety of some area i plant some malaysian variety and some area with thais variety... 30 trees alltogether ....and yes.. i lived just 30clicks away from the thai-malaysia border. go durian !!! yeah~ thai variety - Nok kracip - 3yrs champion in a row in thai durian competition - monthong - phuangmanee - ceni malaysian variety - the old favourites D24 - D197 the undisputed star the musang king - Red prawn - the unknown awesomeness - the upcoming hits , Ochee or some called it Duri hitam / Black Thorn - and some nice local durians variety grafted with 3 rootstocks or more

How do people live over there in jungle. This location looks like thick forest, are they not afraid of wild animals attack.
