Today I'm going on a hike to visit an unusual place - a dugout in the mountains. This old 30-year-old hut has repeatedly saved people's lives from cold and rain, but not so long ago there was a strong fire. I want to see if this old house has survived and, if possible, I will stay in it overnight.

Lake Tahoe in California and Nevada states in the USA is stunningly beautiful in the summertime. For sheer awe, the Grand Canyon. For the power of water, Niagara falls is amazing. I have gotten old so probably won't be able to see any more than this, but everyone deserves to travel and see the world and it's wonders.

For me mid febuary climbing mount Brunswick and finding an A frame cabin you could use if you needed to. Mount Brunswick is the mountian on the lable for Brunswick Sardines. Was a pretty cool little trek. It's located just north of Vancouver along the squamish highway along the west coast of Canada.

My traveling is behind me, 'cause I'm old. I appreciate you sitting down alone to your meals, ' cause that is me, too ! Amazing trips : by car from Amarillo Texas to San Diego to Yosemite then home when I was 3 - Both islands of New Zealand , and then to Tahiti - Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina - Anchorage to Homer, Alaska - 4 of the 6 Islands Hawaii - both the north and south sides of the Grand Canyon - the southern portion of Idaho - Jackson Hole Wyoming and Yellowstone Montana - Sailed from Houston, TX to Cancun Mexico, Belize City, Belize, Roatan Honduras, Key West, then Fort Lauderdale Florida - all around New York City ( even up the Twin Towers, the Statue of Liberty, and the Empire State Building ) - Spent a month in a very rustic mountain wood cabin with my two sons when they were very young in Eagle Nest New Mexico (where we attracted a bear with a fish we had caught, watched him circle the cabin through the cabin's windows, and lived to tell the tale) - Traveled to Ireland and then Edinburgh Scotland (where my great grandfather immigrated from in the 1880s to manage the Spur Ranch in Texas for the London Cattle Company ) - Yes, I have wonderful memories of my many adventures. I love watching you create dugout homes in the woods !!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR ADVENTURES !🧓

Middle of the boonies around big lake in Alaska. My snowmachine got stuck and I was lost. I built a small shelter from snow about 5 ft deep around the base and evergreen, found dead wood and lay them over and added evergreen branches on top plus some snow. Ran the snowmachine for a few minutes for heat. Worked like a charm

When I lived in the far north in Canada, I remember many areas like these - either from fires, clearcutting, or both. Very lonely and surreal. We don't have these types of shelters up there. Very nice of you to bring things for the cabin!

I don't remember how I came across your channel, but you make the BEST videos. I'm a GenX woman (aka old) and I'd never watched these types of videos or even knew about this whole hidden dugout in the woods thing. I watched a few others, but I'm not into them. Only yours. They're relaxing and fun to watch. People like me don't need detailed instructional information about what you're doing. Your skill and personality speak for themselves without you actually speaking. You provide subtitles for the important stuff. I frequently laugh. The very dramatic music at the end of this video was hilarious. Can't wait for the next one! :) Big 🌊 from California.

Dear Alex. I am saddened to see the destruction of this fine forest but I love your thoughtfulness and dedication. I am wishing you a nice stay in this comfortable cabin. I am from New Zealand.

Where do you reckon wood comes from? I mean if we don't log it in our own wealthy countries then it will come form poor countries where corruption and no concept of sustainability exists. Usually these poor countries are in equatorial regions where deforestation results in appalling erosion during the monsoon months and a complete degradation of complex ecosystems. It best to not complain too much about deforestation when you're part of the problem I would've thought. I'm not taking the high ground here because I'm part of the problem too but where I am, they have stopped local logging and I'm annoyed about it. I'm not annoyed for the workers per se, I'm annoyed that the shortfall in timber created by closing the local forest industry is going to have to come from places like Borneo. We could just be degrading our own forests - at least we might apply some management to the environment here, but you just know there won't be any in Borneo where every tree will be removed and all the complex soil denuded. What has taken 5000 years to evolve in complexity is lost in 15mins. There is no easy solution.

@@ThePaulv12 In New Zealand we have engaged in sustainable forestation with Pinus Radiata trees which grow very quickly in our climate and are harvested anywhere from 15 ~ 30 years. Native forests are more protected.

For me, it was Kiel, Germany at the height of the Boating Festival in 1988 before the fall of The Berlin Wall. There were East German warships across the harbor. It was a combination of anxiety and celebration. I was 15. It was during a trip when I was part of the crew on a 46 meter 3 masted sailing ship. Hands down the most memorable experience of my life.

WoW Alex! That’s quite the hard hike to get up there. Such strong winds too. Glad you made it and found some relaxing comfort as well. It must have been warm enough to even take your socks off.? Thank you for fixing the stove pipe. A little maintenance each visit can go a long way to preserve this refuge. You and your friends always do a good job cleaning and fixing. Also, your video set ups were excellent considering the strong wind. ❤🌹✨
