Brentwood in West Los Angeles became synonymous with True Crime and Scandal enthusiasts because of the O.J. Simpson Saga. From 360 N Rockingham, the address of Simpson's home and where Kato Kaelin lived in a backyard bungalow, to Bundy Drive, Mezzaluna, and other infamous spots, the world became familiar with the uber-affluent area of L.A.
IN THIS EXCLUSIVE and explosive episode, Kato Kaelin returns to places he has never been since the crimes on June 12, 1994. Tom Zenner and Kato walk the grounds of the site of O.J.'s former home on Rockingham, where media from around the world camped out for days, where the slow-speed Bronco chase ended on June 17, 1994, and where Kato called home for six months.
Also, in this episode, Tom takes viewers to the chilling spot on Bundy Drive where Nicole Brown Simpson once lived. While the episode is respectful and careful to match the tone of the seriousness of the topic, a light moment at Rockingham is something you absolutely can't miss!
The episode is sponsored by American Hartford Gold. Get up to $15,000 of free silver on qualifying purchases. Call 866-718-8939 or text TOM to 998899. hubs.li/Q02zT1qn0

My husband and I went to LA shortly after the murders. We drove by Nicole’s condo. The crime scene tape was still there. I remember being struck by how small the area was where she and Ron Goldman were found. So sad. We then drove to Rockingham, and were struck about what a short distance away it was and we didn’t even know how to get to where we were going. The mezzaluna restaurant was right around the corner from Nicole’s condo. All the locations were in such close proximity! The whole thing was surreal.

The Bundy condo was never torn down and replaced with what is there now, it is the same building, though landscaping makes it look different in the front. But the alley view looks just like it did 30 years ago.

Yep. Condo is the same and looks the same. Only thing that had any major renovation is the front gate entry area. Metal gate and fence was replaced with a stucco wall, wooden gate, more foliage, and new tile on the ground.

@@TZScandal - In your video you mentioned that Nicole's condo was torn down. It's my understanding that her building was a two unit structure. Nicole owned the north half of the building. She shared a common wall with her neighbor to the south. Are you saying the whole building was destroyed then rebuilt, or maybe just some cosmetic changes were made to her old condo, which included landscaping changes to the front so that it wouldn't look the same from the street. I couldn't find any record of her condo being torn down. I heard you say it was torn down in the video. Any clarifying information on that would be nice.

@@NeverGiddy I was there several times several years ago,and other than the new,taller,back gate,,the front entryway that had been moved north about 10 feet and the stairs that Nicole was found on were reshaped a little bit,the building itself looked exactly the same.The tree where Ron was found was still there. I dont think the bldg was torn down.

The back alley freaked me out as well. I don’t live in an area that has back alleys, so they always made me feel uncomfortable walking on them when I do. My sister used to live in North Vancouver, BC and she had a back alley. When I visited she would always tell me, “don’t walk in the back alley, come to the front door” They always feel ominous to me. I’m also shocked how close everything is - Mezzaluna, Bundy, Rockingham. It wouldn’t have taken long for OJ to get back to Rockingham. Thank you again for doing these great videos, that was so respectfully done and Kato is truly a gentleman ❤
@Romulan2469
@Romulan2469 Месяц назад
You definitely make an excellent point. Back alleys can be dangerous for many reasons, although I find them less dangerous during daytime hours, but at night time forget it. It explains why OJ came in through the alley way on the night of June 12 1994 so he wouldn't be seen. I remember watching a documentary somewhere, I think it was one of Bill Dear's documentaries, where he filmed going to the back of Nicole's condo and it was pitch black, even the garage lights and street lights had such poor lighting you couldn't see that far down the alleyway. To me it looks like a place where you could get ambushed or something. Also I have to say Robert Heidstra was a very brave man as he would routinely walk his dogs every night at 10 pm down the dark streets around Bundy and down that alleyway running parallel to Nicole's condo when it was almost pitch black. Can you imagine if he hadn't taken that detour down that alleyway but instead proceeded down Bundy, he could have been seen and OJ could have gone after him. What a frightening scenario!

I lived in San Diego in `94. i couldn`t believe O.J. did it. Just didn`t believe it was possible. So, a month after the murder, I took a road trip to the Brentwood area saw for myself all the locations pertinent to the murder (Bundy, Rockingham, Mezzaluna, Gretna Green, the alleged escape route, THE ALLEY, etc.). After soaking it in, I changed my mind about everything. I just got this feeling....I can`t explain. I could FEEL it. It was a VERY heavy feeling. I thought it was interesting in a macabre way, that when I was there the police had to direct traffic at Bundy because of all the tourists, and at O.J`s house there was nobody there.
@TheTruthHeals
@TheTruthHeals Месяц назад
You’re initial feeling was exactly correct, @DERISNER. What you felt in person was the heinous crime that The Real Killer[S] committed. It was their goal to frame O.J. and, unfortunately, they couldn’t have been more successful. You can read all about it in my book OUT NOW.

I figured it was for privacy and safety concerns that they weren't filming the properties directly because after all this is private land. I think we have to respect people's privacy and safety, especially given how much publicity the trial brought to these neighborhoods, it's understandable why some of the residents are a bit guarded. Also let's not forget that Rockingham is a completely different property now and is fully covered up by loads of bushes which would make filming it at street level very difficult, unless they sent a drone up there and that would be violating people's privacy which we cannot do. Having said that, we did see some good shots of Nicole's condo and I love the commentary of Tom Z and Kato, what a dynamic duo!

I've always felt bad for Kato, with how the media back then was constantly labeling him in the news as a "freeloader", after he gained fame as the houseguest who was living rent-free on the Simpson estate. The media seemed to want to paint him as an aimless individual whose purpose in life was to freeload off of others, while not knowing the full story of why Kato was living at Rockingham.
@TheTruthHeals
@TheTruthHeals Месяц назад
I always admired Kato for his ability to create rent-free situations for himself on more than one celebrity property. Unless you’re a celebrity, Los Angeles is so expensive. To afford everything there, I had to live in my VW bus, live in my car, be homeless outside and inside homeless shelters or put myself in physical danger in low-rent situations with wackos. I describe one such low-rent situation that led to the tragic 1994 murders in my book OUT NOW!

I went to Bundy when I visited my friend in 2009. I’ve always been very sensitive to energies so I was a little hesitant. I decided to go because I didn’t know if I’d ever get to LA again. My friend told me the address was changed along with the landscaping The walkway was changed, also. We drove through the alley first and that’s where I felt the dark & heavy energy most. I didn’t even want to get out of the car there. I have lived in the Philly suburbs my whole life and don’t scare easily so not getting out of the car was saying something. We walked up Bundy to where Ron and Nicole lost their lives. I felt sadness more than anything there. I kept thinking that Sydney & Justin may have discovered their Mom and Ron’s slaughtered bodies and that’s a horror no one, child or adult, should ever have to go through. It’s beyond disgusting that their father may have exposed them to that. I admire Kato’s loyalty and respect to his friend, Nicole, by not visiting the murder site. He’s a good man. Great episode I'm still watching. I just finished watching the bundy location walk by and get why Kato did not want to to go there. And also why they changed the entry, because everyone saw what it looked like before, the stairs had a waterfall of blood coming off them onto the walkway. I guess they were having problems selling it in the mid or late 90's afterwards and changed it then ? With new address and it appears they just put up a new privacy fence in front and higher in the back, and moved the entry to the side, I am guessing after entering that the pathway resumes as it originally did with stairs going up. Even then I probably would not want to move in there myself. And also agree even after all this time that back alley is pretty creepy still

I was there in 1996. I walked 19 blocks from a hotel in Santa Monica and did my own foot tour. I went by Mezzaluna and then to the condo. I walked in front and through the alley and I just felt peace there. I even walked the neighborhood including Gretna Green, it is a very tranquil and charming area. I don't think I am a person who gets a heightened sense of dread HOWEVER.........in 1992 my mom and I decided to take a drive up Cielo and there was no gate down by the road, or it was open so we continued up the one lane only drive and reached a brown wooden fence that was open, the button to enter was right outside it. My mom, was like well get out and take pictures! I couldn't, I felt sick to my stomach and that feeling last for 2 hours after we left there. I don't know if it was because we were trespassing OR if it was because of what happened there the year I was born! Had no clue at the time Trent Reznor was the one renting the place at the time. I have never had that feeling before nor have I since then.

@@TZScandal Absolutely Tom Z! I think what gets me when you did your tour of Nicole's condo and Rockingham is just how quiet, peaceful and affluent those areas are. It's the last kind of place you would expect a horrific double homicide to happen. It's absolutely tragic what happened to Ron and Nicole, both in the primes of their lives and the aftermath of the trial and the families never getting true justice. I really think we need to get the Goldman and Brown families on ASAP. We're just past the 30 year anniversary mark. I get the feeling they will talk in their own time.

When recalling the neighbor's 'plaintive wail' description of Nicole's Akita dog, I've wondered, assuming her dog wasn't neutered, if the odor of the victims' blood, as the dog stepped out on the porch wading through the blood pools, got the dog's brain confused thinking that he was smelling a female dog in heat, which then riled his dog hormones, causing him to wail (assuming that female dogs in heat have the same blood odor as human blood odor as perceived by male dogs). And this is what caused the Akita to begin wandering the neighborhood.

Interesting video as always. I've only ever seen pictures so it's interesting to see the actual places. One thing I do find striking is how built up the area around Nicole Browns house is. Lots of neighbours. Busier street than I expected. Makes me think even more that it was an ambush and the actual attack was much more pre-planned and happened really quickly due to nobody hearing or seeing pretty much anything. I know it was dark etc and maybe quieter being a sunday night, but I'm surprised more wasn't heard at the very least. Thanks guys. Love you and your channel.

I drove to Rockingham and Bundy in nine 2002 I believe somewhere around there. It was after OJ‘s house had been demolished and a new one in its place and of course Nicole‘s condo was completely different with a new address. But as I stood in front of what was Nicole‘s condo I was so moved and horrified andcould feel it physically throughout my entire body that I couldn’t even eat for the rest of the day. It was just so palpable still at that time. It is such a despicable thing that was done to these two wonderful people and I don’t wish anyone anything bad but I know where OJ is now and I have to say it is an appropriate judgment for him.

It was calmer for me seeing Bundy than it was Rockingham. Can’t explain why other than I felt OJ was evil personified. He coveted that house. Would be interesting to see aerial view, or map, with all significant locations marked to see just how close these places are. Besides protecting his mental well-being, I felt it classy for Kato not to go to Nicole’s. She was his friend, like a sister, and he showed her respect. ❤
