Trains 21 is a documentary of railroading in the 21st century and a look at the fascinating world of transportation. On this channel we deal with all aspects of trains with a strong focus on the Northeast USA.
The goal is for you to learn a lot in a short amount of time.. A major infusion of knowledge in just a few minutes.. And if those few minutes distilled some of the best railroad information in the industry, we feel that we've done our job..
The trick is clarity.. Clear, concise and on point.. New videos are uploaded frequently and if you like what you see, comment, like and subscribe (in that order!).

Hey Trains21, I don’t know if you know this but if you are looking to railfan some new Alcos there is a RS3M, c420, and a RS11 in Northampton PA.

I had the opportunity to visit Steamtown several years ago and watch and film several Alco’s working the yard there and then pull out with a train headed east. They are amazing engines and great to watch. Thanks.

As big of an EMD guy as I am, these Alco's are just neat. So cool that there still operating in 2024 outside of a museum. I would love to make it out and see this RR in action someday.

Having grown up in Schenectady, ALCO locomotives were a part of my 1950s-1960s life at the northern end of Erie Boulevard. The massive GE plant was at the other end. I turned down an ALCO job (thankfully) and went to work and retired 42 years later from GE. What those huge engine shop grounds ended up as is not nice. Currently there is an office building replacing an interim hokey strip mall, an empty lot but was a hotel for a few years and *gasp* a large gambling casino and marina. I've only knowingly traveled on one train with a steam locomotive - Durango and Silverton narrow gauge sightseeing train in Colorado - but never a diesel.

Great video, always a treat to see older freightcars that haven’t been repainted (the Southern boxcar in the one train). Just one suggestion, if you can add the locations where you filmed the trains. I know where some were filmed (Steamtown and the new shops), but the others are unknown. Great to see something other than EMDs and GEs. Thanks

What would a caboose like the one at 31:26 be used for nowadays?
