beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and this talk no matter how much I don't like the pics as much as he did, his reasons make sense what seems appealing to me its very rare that others also find it interesting especially if its imperfect

Dan said it all in one sentence: Without camera I don't see anybody. I'm gonna print this fantastic quote on a shirt

Some of the pics showcased in this vid aren't that impressive but I can understand why he liked them now that he has explained it. Makes me reassess some of my snaps. Maybe they aren't as bad as i first thought.

Yeah you should not use the term savage, we are in 2015 after all. Excellent story and photo's though.

Are these shooters walking around with 10,000 model releases? Curious about foreign countries for publishing in the US.

You do not need a model release except under certain circumstances. Use in a magazine is not one of those circumstances

I hope your choice of the word "savage" about the New Guinea photo was a slip of the tongue. Otherwise, it is very insensitive.

I didn't take offense at all. It was pretty descriptive, actually and I doubt the individual wearing a dead bird on his head adorned in tribal war painting would mind. The picture is a very powerful reminder that even though they might be seen as "savage", that changes very quickly when they have a child in their arms.

The statement was crass. A photo of George Washington or Thomas Jefferson with white wigs could be described in a crass manner or not. I would choose a respectful way accounting for the time in history.

"Don´t center the subject" what about harmony in composition? Rules of foolish... Sometimes I think about speculation, not all of them are amazing pictures... no... It is just because NATGEO is NATGEO.

Perhaps Dan Westergren has a savage insensitivity.

Interesting video! But calling Dali and Buñuel Dadaists when they famously were Surrealists... Common.
