What a movie...Kudos to everyone worked to create such a masterpiece. Saw it first as a mallu kid, to see mammooty and rajinikanth acting together, but couldn't understand and develop a taste for it. Only hooked for the songs, even though didn't understand lyrics everyone knew "kattu kuyillu " song. Watching it multiple times over the years and with more passion towards movies and grip over the language made me realised the CULT value of the movie. The movie grew in me through the years, and it still continues.

മണിരത്നത്തിന് മോഹൻലാൽ കൂടി പടത്തിൽ വേണമെന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു ആദ്യം അരവിന്ദസ്വാമിയുടെ വേഷം ആയിരുന്നു പിന്നീട് അമരീഷ്പൂരിയുടെ കൂടെ തുല്യ പ്രാധാന്യതിൽ വില്ലൻ വേഷത്തിലും സമീപിച്ചു but മോഹൻലാൽ no പറഞ്ഞു ആ വേഷം പിന്നീട് കുറെ change ചെയ്തു മനോജ്‌ k ജയൻ ചെയ്തു....Cinematography വേറെ level ആയിരുന്നു... അസാധ്യ frames 😍😍😍😍
മണിരത്നം ക്രാഫ്റ്റിൽ മമ്മൂക്കയും രജിനി സാറും ഒറ്റ തവണ മാത്രം ഒരുമിച്ചപ്പോൾ അത് തമിഴ് സിനിമയുടെ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ഇടം നേടിയ ക്ലാസിക്ക് ആയി. മമ്മൂക്കയും കമൽ സാറും ഒരുമിച്ച് ഒരു സിനിമ സംഭവിക്കാതിരുന്നത് ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നിരാശ ആയും തുടരുന്നു. തൊണ്ണൂറുകളിൽ തന്നെ മണിരത്നം അവരെയും കൂടി ഒരുമിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ എന്തൊരു വിരുന്ന് ആയേനെ അത്!! സാധ്യതകൾ വിദൂരമാണെങ്കിലും ഇനിയും പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.
ഒരു ഇടവേളയ്ക്കു ശേഷം രജനികാന്ത് എന്ന നടനെ കൂടുതലും ഉപയോഗിച്ച സിനിമ. ഒപ്പം മമ്മൂട്ടി എന്ന മഹാനടന്റെ പകരം വെക്കാനില്ലാത്ത പ്രകടനവും. കുറച്ച് നേരം മാത്രമേ ഉള്ളുവെങ്കിലും ഓർത്തിരിക്കാൻ തക്കം score ചെയ്തിട്ടു പോയ അംരീഷ് പുരിയുടെ പ്രതിനായക വേഷവും കേൾകുന്നവരുടെ മനസ്സിൽ ശക്തമായ സ്വാധീനം ചെലുത്തിയ ഇളയരാജയുടെ സംഗീതവും സന്തോഷ്‌ ശിവന്റെ മികച്ച ഛായാഗ്രഹണവും അതിനെല്ലാം ഉപരി മണിരത്നം എന്ന സംവിധായകന്റെ മികച്ച കലാസൃഷ്‌ടിയിൽ ഒന്നും👌. നിസംശയം പറയാം ഇന്ത്യയിലെ തന്നെ Ultralegends ന്റെ തിരശീലയിൽ അപൂർവമായ അണിനിരന്നതിൽ ഒന്ന്. 31 years of Thalapathy ❤️
