It is considered as a special art of skilled musicians of this genre to use classic melodies to create the artwork of black metal. f.e. Children of Bodom, they often use Bach. by the way, this is why it is called "symphonic black metal"

No No No! This just doesn't work for Dimmu Borgir. This song is supposed to be a Heavy Metal song, not black metal. If they are gonna cover this song, then why not do it a bit different, this really doesn't work, it doesn't have that same feeling as the original. I got nothing against DB, but this is a really bad cover of a really great song.

@HellRaiser15151 you're story is wrong, the Persian army at this time was the the biggest in the world and the persian messenger was telling them the greek were going to be slaughtered if they didnt let the persian use their land and solders so they went to battle and the battle lasted 2 and and half days before 200 thousand or so persians were slaughtered, and king Leonidas was dead before his men were, died in the first day i believe, but he was not the last to die, and the civilians didnt die
@khashayal2opeth i dont exactly know what you mean but if you're saying this story was fake it was not, but the whole setting is fake where the battle is taking place, because it toke place right next to a mountain full of trees, and the only real reason why sparta did so good was because of the bronze shields, they did a lot of intense training but the Persian arrows couldn't pierce their shields, Spartans were homosexuals though

Accepts version is excellent --- this is terrible and pathetic vocals --- while UDO's voice is a bit rough he could handle melodic pieces, and the song Metal Heart is very melodic --- so even suggesting that Dimmu what's their name's version even comes close to Accept is a complete joke. I'm sure that Dimmu what's their names are really good at death metal and all that...the guitars sound good --- but not as good as the original ACCEPT ---and it's from 1985 - May....

@BulgAryan1982 true, the whole movie is based on the Ottoman times but the whole make up of the soldiers was incorrect in this move the real "Immortals" dressed like regular soldiers just they wore the same thing so when you kill one anther would take his place they never dressed in Japanese attire. but you got a real in-depth story there never heard it like that before
i think that 300 was a great movie, but a little historically loose. like braveheart, the events were true and stuff like that, but a little bit was wrong. the spartans were not like in the movie: they were fully encased in solid bronze armor and had a strong sheild 4ft diameter and was effective as a blunt weapon
UM no if the battle of therm never happened than Persia may have invaded the isthmus of Corinth and conquered Greece. It was the Persian fear of the Greek ground army that led to the battle of Salamis and the eventual defeat of the Persian invasion. Numbers matter but marathon and thera prove that they are only one part of a lager equation.
One thing I learned is to respect old metal bands like Maiden, Pantera, Accept, Judas Priest, Megadeth etc simply because they started the whole thing. ( BLACK SABBATH!!) Without them there would be no metal as such. So, what was that about them not being metal? (Borgir has done a lot of covers of old metal songs... even Burn In Hell is one!)
really nice vid, but the interpretation of the great 1982 song from Accept is really poor. Dimmu borgir plays it note for note like the original, with a singer who sounds like he has Knödel in his mouth :). please listen to the original and get struck by the amazing voice of Udo Dirkschneider

darkklowntim, They still killed more than ten men for every one they lost. It was still a very demoralizing and costly battle for the Persians. Although it is certainly true that the sea battle may have been more important for stopping the persians.

I'm not sure who drummed this particular song, but Tony Lerraeno(sorry i cant spell his last name) and Hellhammer are some of the best drummers in Black metal, and music in general.
