Darth Vader: My son, you do not know the power of the dark side. My master WILL show you and all who stand against our Empire. Luke Skywalker: Father, can you not see? The galaxy is united against the Empire. The remnant of Alderaan, Corelia, Mon Calamar, Tatooine, and finally Coruscant. Father you cannot win what flame burns against you. I urge you father, surrender. Let me help you!
Oliver Draathelvete You know, I imagine if CinemaSins finally did this movie anytime soon, I bet the last sin would be him saying like: "Themistocles is a dick to the camera man!"
1:21 Call me nostalgic, but I always felt the Arcadians coming back from the first movie without fear was the most badass thing about this whole scene.
That shot of Dilios over her shoulder at the end made the whole movie worth while. Wish he had narrated again. Wish we could get a third movie with him leading the 10,000 Spartans into that final battle.
I looked up what happened xerxes returned to modern day turkey it was ment to look like he was dissapointed and ar the same the time look like a cliffhanger but i looked like he thought "You fools couldnt do one thing for me i gues i have to do it myself with massive army
When you realize that the queen didn't need a shield only her husband's sword and her anger is enough for her to fight. They pissed off the wrong person.
@@williampoole1742 Is stupid, in the first movie (a few days ago from this) she almost got raped and was outmatched by a average man, and here she is killing plenty of soldiers persians like nothing.
It is, he's a very important part of the movie, he was sent back to inform the rest of Leonidas army and the queen of what happened, and he was the one who helped the rest of the Spartans come to this guys aid. If it wasn't for him they would of not known what happened and waited and the Persians would of won here.
midget 420 they thought he was a coward but he fought in the front lines to make it right. They said he was like a tornado of death until he eventually died. So what he did was important but due to his culture he did not get a heroes welcome but eventually got a heroes death
More fun facts: Sparta was a land city and had no navy until they were given one by the persians(!) to fight the atenians during the peloponnesian wars. Slavery was outlawed in persia, but legal in athens and activly endorsed in sparta.
His name in real life was aristodemus , his story was sad because he was shamed by Sparta for not fighting to the end with his king . He redeemed himself at the battle of Plataea .
Rana RoyChoudhury Yet historically Sparta only beat Athens once, and that was when they made a navy. Every other fight Sparta got their ass handed to them by Athens.
SoulKiller7Eternal "Every other fight." You say that like Athens and Sparta ever went to war that often. Most of the times both city states were very friendly and allies 90% of the time. Get your facts straight.
@@Top10soon You must like the scene in "The Last Samurai" when they came to return the captain to Tokyo. This scene and the 300 2 ending scene are my most liked scenes ever.
Matt Baldwin Thespians was at the Battle of Thermopylae 1700 men...! Fought with the Spartans against Persians...The key was the shileds and Speers...was Steel inside at the spartan Army..they was technically many years in front...Steel only used by Greek Army and later by Romans...Not Persians !
The Joker ONE MOVE IS ALWAYS in Plan... the ancient Material of greek Blood activated in every War or Battle...shown in past..also in WW2 against an army of 300.000 Italians bullgaria labania and german REICH....the fought in all parts without weapons against facism...gave greeks best weapons and euipment and htey conquer the world...but many many countries dont let them rise again..this film is the rise of ionians..the base of european culture..!
3:20 I find that Themistocles' look is beautiful at this moment. You can see his mercy for Artemise. He knows what she has been through, the pain that led her to fight until death against the Greeks.
The last couple of seconds in this scene were so powerful, combined with the music building up... The battle between the Persians and Greeks continued in my mind lol
Say what you will about the Spartan Navy and any inaccuracies in the "300" films, this is probably one of the most badass moments in a Zack Snyder movie to date.
@@sergioblanco6321 What the fk are you even saying. during the Persian wars 490-470 BC, Hellas and not Greece, never fell to the Persians. During the Peloponnesian War 431-404BC thats when Sparta allied with the Persians and betrayed the Hellenic kingdoms so they could conquer Athens, but Persians never conquered or occupied anything for too long.
@@sergioblanco6321 Persia never conquered the entire Hellenic land, at least the Hellenic map as you see it today (Dont use Greece when you speak about ancient times. Greece is a name given to this country during the Ottoman Empire years). They controlled a few areas through either wars or treaty, like some islands, or parts of northern Hellas, around the borders with today's turkey. Eventually they managed to reach up to Thessaloniki in Macedonia. When they tried to go for more they got obliterated in the Persian Wars. When Sparta accepted financial help and weapons from Persia to destroy Athens (Incident that happened almost 50 years after the Persian Wars ended with Persia retreating defeated from Hellenic grounds), it was just Sparta which was unofficially submissive to the Persians. That didnt last long either. 100 years later, Phillip the 2nd's son Alexander the Great, rallied the Hellenic kingdoms under 1 banner and he utterly decimated Persia, literally conquering everything in his path. So no Persia never conquered the entire Hellenic country, they occupied a good portion of it but they never got it all.
I love the symbolism of the sword being one of the spines on her back and just her death in general It showed that she always was a Greek she was the best “Persian” fighter Because she was really a Greek And she died a Greek death Not surrendering and dying as you looked your enemy in the eyes but she chose to be a Persian because she believed Greece could never come together and in her final moments she realized she was wrong...........
She chose to be Persian because she was a sex slave for years from a child, and left for dead, by the Greeks. Then a Persian came along and saved her, trained her, and she was given respect and status within the Persian civilization.
Fact: in Sparta Men... AND WOMAN were trained to be soldiers at seven to 18 years of age All woman in sparta could do that Fact: Sparta had better Civil Rights today than any other place
@@mysterioushoodedfigure1566 You are trying to rewrite history, the duty of the spartan women was to procreate strong children and make them survive their early childhood years, I am not trying to denigrate them in any way, they did a good job in their assigned role. They weren't near the fighting. However they received training in dancing and phisical training, (but nothing remotely close to the hard training of the males), because healthy women have healthy children.
@@bryanquijanesortega3221 but woman in sparta were almost equal to man they had the second most rights in Greece first was the minoan civilisation today known as Crete they were worship woman like gods and they had protector God Hera(mother of Gods, and God of marriage and house keeper)Spartans had Ares(God of war) and Athens protector God athena( God of wisdom and justice)
civil rights ? like they cared all i know they didnt feel oppressed , were always protected , people always tryna put civil rights, democracy in every movie , thats what destroyed game of thrones.
"Hell hath no fury for a woman's scorn" This doesn't even do Queen Gorgo any justice, because she isn't simply mad or resentful, she's driven by revenge for her fallen King, her love. Her narration and turning the tide with her army is nothing short of epic.
Actually no it wouldn't. Spartans had a horrible military. The entire Army consisted of only heavy Infantry. They had no light infantry no skirmishers no Cavalry and no archers. It would have been rode down by any westerosi army
@@nothingtoospiffy7913 Dude do your research back in this time, the Greek city states had little to no Cavalry as the primarily focused was heavy infantry this was common, back then the Greeks mainly used cavalry as scouts. So of course they didn't have much cavalry, furthermore the Spartans often used their vassal "allies" to act as the range units and light infantry. It was only in later years that the Greeks adopted Cavalry Furthermore in case you forgot the Unsullied an infantry focused army not unlike the Spartans was able to defeat an army of 25.000 Dohtraki screamers with just 2.400 men, who are light infantry unlike the Spartans who are heavy infantry. And we all saw what the Dohraki did to the Lannister and Tarly armies. Even Robert a season warrior and General was fearful of them in battle, so if a light infantry force like the Unsullied could defeat the likes of Dohraki, (who destroyed two westeros armies), imagine what a heavy infantry force like the Spartans could do?
I just love how Xerxes walks away, his massive army waiting up there with him. There's something about it that just speaks volumes. The walking away itself is him washing his hands of Artemisia, but that's he walking to his still massive horde of troops gives it that extra edge. Implying that the lose of his navy and general changes nothing to him, and that he could have saved her but didn't. Yes, I know , those were all land forces with him, but it does have that feel to it.
According to Herodotus and others, Xerxes was watching the Battle of Salimis from a cliff. When the Greeks ambushed the Persian navy in the strait, silently stood up and walked away. He lost control of the seas and thus lost the war. He retreated back to Persia not too long after, leaving the land battles to his generals.
i can see 300 being a trilogy. the first one was the battle that started the Greek-Persian War. This one is the continuation. and if they do make a third one, that can be the end of the war.
The battle of Platea was also ni the first movie epilogue. I know this movie doesnt take it TO seriously with historic accuracy (thats a understatement), but it was the greeks (Athens to be precise) who actually started the war 495 BC, supporting the ionic uprising of greek city vassals of Persia along Asia Minor.
The fact that Xerxes is standing on top of the cliff with a massive army is the definition of "you may have won the battle but I will win the war." Why have we not gotten 300 3 yet??
"That breeze... That promise became wind. A wind my brothers of Sacrifice. A wind of Freedom. A wind of Justice. A wind of VENGEANCE." P.S: I m Greek yes
The Funny thing is that in the real story that actually happened Romanes had slavery but ancient Persian was against slavery and their soldiers and women and fight by their choice
i love that they kept intact parts of our essence in these films! The look between a Spartan and an Athenian.. the godly moment that Greeks put aside their differences in order to fight a common enemy
And upon the sunset, the black sails of Sparta unfurled. The battle cries of 300 men now echoing in the chests of thousands, set to bring doom to all those who would challenge them.
I know that this film takes a crap load of liberties with what actually went on. I know that Artemisia wasn't actually Greek and that she was a well respected leader on both sides. I know that it would be laughable to see a woman on a Greek battlefield and even more laughable to see a Spartan woman anywhere near the fighting. I know that the Spartan role in the Battle of Salamis was negligible and the day could have been easily won without them. I know all this, but when I saw the Spartan ships unfurl their black sails and the music swelled and the ships started crashing into each other I just did NOT care!
+112steinway you can search and find a video on youtube, it is an actuall documentary of Hist. Channel which shows what really happened at the invasion of persia to greece. It shows that in reality the batltle of thermopolae and the battle of salamis took place at the same time. In fact Themestocles was backing up for Leonidas so the persian ships dont surround him in Thermopolae. Also regarding women you are right when you say that they didn't take part in fights but it is a fact that spartan women received fight training so they could defend their selves if someone attemted to rape or kill them.
+112steinway sorry the battle of salamis took place after the death of the 300. Themestocles was backing up for Leonidas, fighting the persian ships in a little bay outside thermopolae called artemisium
I *adore* the way the music swells and the way it's paired with the sound effect of them knocking out the pins to unfurl the sails. Follow it up with the visuals of the fleet and the sound of the Acadians doing the "soldier" cheer and just...oh it's so good!
I like how the spartans are so badass they don't care for physics and just keep standing on their boats, while the other greeks had kneel and hold on to a rope earlier in the movies
I don't. Cersei may not quite have the cunning of this version, but she certainly is less of a hypocrite. A member of the ruling class of Spartan society waxing poetic about "freedom" and "justice" just makes me lol.
Themistokles: "Artemisia!. Would you turn your back on your own people?" Artemisia: "The persians are my people. If it be bloodshed you bring; then I stand against you". Themistokles: "So be it, persian. But against a united Greece. None will stand for long."
Yes I totally remember reading about all the powerful warrior women from ancient times that led armies and fought on the front lines on both sides. Absolutely happened...............
Most of this movie was crap but a few battle scenes, this ending scene and Eva Green were awesome!! I mean I would be a slave for Eva Green's persian milk jugs for life!
Funny thing is, she's French so she would've killed both Spartans and Persians. When she fight both Spartans or Persians. Britain and the United States would've aided her.
It was upsetting to me that Leonidas's wife hated Themistocles so much that she didn't even want to aid him in battle. When you have a common enemy whose desire is to wipe you from the face of the earth, that's when it's time to momentarily put aside differences and work together. The only reason she eventually came to his aid in the end was a means of avenging the death of her husband, and even then it was after Themistocles lost a good number of men.
