The fighting in this total war looks fucking amazing. So many execution moves, blocking, dodging, parrying.. I come to think of why that doesnt exist in warhammer total war(executions yes, sometimes but not the other mentioned). ._.

Because CA's laziness, or SEGA's requirement for them to crank out a new game every 3 years. Also the many different SPECIES prevents very many mocaps to be created.

The game is far better off without elaborate excecution moves. It's a game of unit formations and maneuvres, not hundreds of little 1v1 duels. While it looks cool zoomed in, it complicates and fudges formation vs formation combat.

I love your videos. Not since Kirk Douglas' "Spartacus" have I seen someone capture the true scope of the Roman battles. I particularly like this one because you get really "up close and personal" with the combat. I only wonder how the Persians could be so stupid as to attack the Spartans on their own ground?? It took either tremendous courage, or tremendous stupidity. Not to change the subject, but did you ever see "Meet The Spartans"?? Absolutely hilarious, especially with their painted-on abs.

The battle of Thermopylae wasn't in Sparta it was in the place with the same name as the battle where Leonidas sent the bulk of his army with the rest of the greeks and stayed with a small group to give time to the coalition of greeks to prepare to fight against the raiding persians of Xerxes, Shah of Persia Leonidas being king of Sparta Plus the persians were accustomed to less well-armed troops than the greeks, that's why they won with so much casualties.

Gotta say i loved this game, still wasn't able to play as Sparta, could never figure out why. Seriously though i think any spartan unit in the game that underwent Agoge should have had infinate moral and could never have broken in melee.

you need the greek states dlc, and wrath of sparta. those 2 give you sparta, athens and thebes (I think there’s Thebes, I forgot.)

The Phalnax didn't throw there spears they were 10 to 18 ft long. The formation was one unit and stand in formation. The Spears were used to shrust. Once ANY Greek army broke there phalnax formation they were doomed. The sword was only used after the spear was broken.
