301. You HAVE NEVER SEEN A Piece Of Resin Art LIKE THIS BEFORE!
In todays Resin Art experiment, what will happen if we add dish soap to resin?!
As explained, I saw a short video where ‪@chemicalkimscience‬ added food coloring to PVA glue, then added drops of dish soap to create some crazy effects! I had to see if I could do this in resin!
Whilst this was a very unpredictable experiment, I'm sure I can perfect this with more tests, I will be sure to keep trying until I can work out a new way that works every time!

@@daniel..cooper So you should try a polished silver or gold background and make templates for the different colors of backgrounds. All the primary colors and metals for each. So I thought about what you did and came to the conclusion that it has to be using the same toothpick over and over. Also the white is too heavy, maybe use a dab of white on a toothpick. If you look back at the video, you can also see where in some cases the color rolled in and with the mix and I think that has to do with the mix toothpick. The longer it took you to use the toothpick the mix on the toothpick was lost and became normal again that's why all of the sudden it worked.

@@daniel..cooperSo, I looked at the video. Glue, Food coloring, and dish soap. Ignoring the glue, you can use food coloring in resin. So it was the chemical makeup of Glue having water, good coloring that has water and dish soap that breaks the bonds. So even though it worked somewhat on the 1st one the chemical mix is different. You need to find a happy medium within the colors. White is not it. The oil in my opinion didn't work well at all. You really should try food coloring.

You're the only resin artist that I actually follow, and that's because I really like your voice and personality and creativity. I've watched some others occasionally, but they just haven't clicked with me. I hope you play around more with this. Thanks for sharing your experiment! I recently tried a similar experiment with a Japanese paper marbling technique. The ink mattered. The water temperature mattered. The amount and pressure of applying the soap mattered. What kind of paper and how it was placed on the water mattered. :D And it was still great fun to see what the successes and failures created. Try letting your color spread out before adding the sinker. Color, sinker, dish soap, color. I think the key is to let the colors spread. I love your accent by the way ❤❤❤😊

Oh my goodness, the effect is awesome. Would really work wonderful for making dragon eyes. Maybe using a dropper to add the dish soap will work better and using a round deep mould like the once just above the ovals.

I like them all. The heart is stunning. The one you say muddied is also beautiful. I don’t think someone who didn’t see this video would think it was muddied. That is the artist in you. The last one looks a little floral as well. In a different color pattern, it would look like an anemone.

I love watching your videos Dan, they're amazing. Oh wow, those are gorgeous, I really love the colours, they'll make beautiful jewellery wouldn't they. The beautiful one with the coral effect would look great it you could somehow put little tiny fish on it, to make it look like it's under the sea. Dan, the soap is a surfactant and reduces the surface tension for the ink. When your mold is not flat, concave due to under filled mold, it will stop any tension the ink has in contact with the resin. You need full or slightly convexed surface to allow the soap to help the ink spread. You can add a drop of rubbing alcohol to have a similar effect.

Really interesting. I think you would have to watch your own video and reproduce the steps of the first piece to see if it worked the same. The oil had a wonderful effect and I loved the heart - it also reminded me of an underwater scene, although from afar it looked like flowers leaning towards the left. It’s always fun to experiment.🥰

Hi Daniel, I was going to say is it something to do with the temperature of the resin. Maybe when the resin is warmer, and moving more, that’s wheat is helping the reaction. I really like that heart, very pretty 😍 The first one you did came out cool. When I had issues with the ink not spreading it was because the resin has started to gel. Hit it with a bit of heat should help with that. 💡

The first one you did the sinker before the soap.... the others you did the soap before the sinker, something in the soap changed the way it responded to the sinker after it was added initially.

Those ovals were AWESOME…. The very first one, I wish you would have dropped a dark purple instead of that yellow/orange … it really did turn out awesome though! That is the fun with experimenting,,, you never know what you're gonna get!
