Maybe the real niche is the friends we make along the way... I just had a client ask me if they can hire and how much they can afford. I did a ton of research on the their industry, hiring trends, pay scales for experienced hires, etc. I don't want to do that for every industry. I could take that same research and use it to help 100 other agencies that are all in that niche.

Another risk is compliance blindness (or compliance bloat). If you niche across regions, or types, of compliance, you're holding yourself out as an expert everywhere. It seems very easy, especially for small practices with limited resources, to screw up compliance due to lack of awareness. What are your thoughts for that issue?

Yeah SALT is a real headache. I'd say it cuts both ways, ie risks doing one-off work, but ultimately I'm not sure which way cuts worse

I worked for a CPA that was 60-70% manufacturing in Michigan during the 2008 meltdown. It makes it harder when you have seen it at it's worst.

Love the videos. Not a fan of niching. There are way more common pains-- cash flow, minimizing tax, payroll -- than "rare" pains. I think 'small business accounting' is niche enough.

Off topic, but what AI solution do you like most (or use most!) for writing marketing content? Chat GPT is pretty cool, but is there something better? :)

My favorite at the moment is Claude.ai and Wordware.ai, but the quality of all the responses boils down to how good the context you feed it is. That's the main thing to invest in
