Yeah it's about time I do this too. Getting the 4090 in a few days and I'll sell my ZOTAC 3090 Trinity after replacing thermal pads and paste. Have enjoyed this card for 3 years with heavy 4K gaming so it's probably clear that the paste has dried up. Getting hotspot temps over 105 degrees making the fans loud as hell. Also in really intensive gaming like Hogwarts Legacy modded with Ultra+ in 4K makes the fans go off in periods over 3000RPM and randomly crashing to a black screen of death. Only a hard restart solves this, so I'm almost sure it's the thermal paste that dried up. I'm using Arctic MX-4 thermal compound as was used originally when I configured this PC.
@@KrunoEti Been a few months now on the ASUS Rog Strix RTX 4090, so far a fantastic card. Thing runs exceptionally quiet even under the heaviest loads. THIS is how you build a GPU... It did cost €2000 but hell...
Screws, Hi I bought a used card, but it is missing the two small screw on the right, when dismantling the backplate in the video. Can some one please advise the thinknes and length of the these, please.
On my zotac original on backplate is 2mm so why putting something that doesent fit, and also you will increase temperatures of core, in some times card will not working at all, cuz there is no good contact with core and heatsink
Used thermalrights on my zotac but 1.5mm was not enough and 2mm was too much due to they hardness. Problem solved with 2mm gelid extremes, they are more compressive. Don't forget small 4x4mm chip on the corner
Thank you. I used 2mm front and back, but Coldium Skade, and it bents my board when tightening the screws. I already ordered a 120x120x2 sheet of Gelid Extreme
@@diegomayan if gelid extreme will be still too hard or hotspot will be too high- use arctic tp-3. Stack 2x1mm on rams due to arctic don't have 2mm. They are soft the most - even more compressible than gelids. You can also squish gelids some if needed. 👍
Using furmark at 1080p, replacing pads with gelid ultimate 2mm fans, and using gelid extreme thermal paste, I more or less got 0 difference. Seems that the backplate just literally gets 0 cooling, so dissipation is the main problem. Common problem?
@Mohammed Tanveer Raza well it is not hard and big science, just follow the steps and do it right, put all back. I was little scared with first my, but after that Im opening them like package of milk😄. Dont push to hard anything be gentle and you will make it. @@KrunoEti thnx man, i built my PC in early 2020 from retailer , i was even scared to connect GPU then , now GPU connecting is no big deal, then i built second rig by myself, guess this too will come by, thnx fr help.
If you have some of cards on channel that are recorded, you can see pads and paste, for other not sure, some off cards same model had different size pads, so bes option is to buy few packages of pads and have it in reserve
