Casualty rates in napoleonic wars seemed to be around that percentage aswell, but dont quote me on that its just something i heard

@@bernard3303 actually true, but most of the losses suffered were never from battles but non combat casualties like hunger, disease, desertion etc…

I can't imagine the logistic works need to be done in order to field that many soldier 😮‍💨

its taken inspiration from ntw3 but not having the massive unit diversity that ntw3 has. It still has more units than vanilla but not as in depth as ntw3. The stats of units are different in a lot of ways from ntw3 i couldnt say how but morale and shooting and melee and cav artillery are just different some are more delicate that ntw3 some are less. Its still in development so its still going through growing

@@KingstonKingdom thanks. It's been a long while since I've played NTW or any of the total war series tbh. Your excellent battle replays have tempted me to give both of these mods a try.

@@KingstonKingdomIt looks like Grand Battles doesn’t artificially throttle artillery unit sizes which is my BIGGEST gripe with NTW3.

There are generals, you can recruit multiple ones + adjutant units in this mod

ya as johny said there are adjutants and generals and marching bands you can have

The general is only crucial in NTW3 if you bring low morale units. Otherwise it is nice to have but nothing more.

@@cerberus2373 There was a mode in TW Warhammer 2 called The Laboratory which let you set up insanely huge battles. Seeing as it didn't make its return in TWWH 3 and it wasn't even mentioned anywhere, nobody really cared about it. It's a waste of resources for a mode that would only run on high end PCs when modders can clearly fill this niche for those few that enjoy stuff like this.

@@KingstonKingdom i understand that. It's a game after all. Some very good mods didn't really hit my taste because of this, but I do appreciate the dedication of people working on them, and the creators that are making good content out of it.

Actually it’s fairly realistic, sometimes during line battles hundreds of men could be firing and nobody dies, other times one volley can route an destroy an entire battalion or cavalry charge, it depends on the time, situation and range.

@@pianoman-1359 "depends on their situation and range". This is the key here. From 50 meters/yards (it's a similar distance) well trained soldiers were able to hit a human sized target. That is if they have clear sight on a target. On the battlefield there may be quite a lot of smoke and chaos, so yes, not every soldier is going to hit someone, but if two lines of 400 men were shooting at each other, there surely would be casualties. But as I said, It is a game, it's for fun, and it still looks great. It's just my historian and reenactor side that won't shut up inside my head (and rightly so, but when it's for fun, it's for fun, not for real).

@@matthaeusdecuiavia8637 I’ve seen multiple sources speak about lines of hundreds of men shooting each other expecting many losses only to suffer little to no losses afterwords. Again, under battlefield situations this is not surprising and likely they were shooting from outside of the optimal range of a musket. Even the hit rate of a modern soldier is probably even worse lol. Ntw3 is more realistic as a mod because close range volleys are devastating but at range you get long firefights.

ya mofer this mod isnt like ntw3. NTW3 has a ton of work put into it for historical accuracy over the entire napoleonic wars with units corps and generals. I doubt this mod will go into that detail just due to the sheer magnitude of work needed. Which is what sets ntw3 apart in its quality. The grand battle mod is different and fun but if you want super realism do ntw3

@KingstonKingdom Didn't France have 3 players? Plus all the repetitive death charges on the French right didn't make any sense. The French in my opinion should have out flanked on the left while holding their right. (Not death charging as an example lol) Then you would have been down your right flank. Also the French right cannons didn't fire for what seemed like at least a minute or two as they got charged. I'm assuming they didn't have orders; however, canister there would have been devastating to the Russians at that range. I feel the main objective should have been a more defensive hold on the right with full push on the French left. Anyway I'm ranting but it's just so many little mistakes that bug me Is all. Very entertaining anyway. Maybe I need to start playing again.
