Good video thanks! I'm trying and failing to get Blender 2.8 to load the .mtl correctly, Blender is not creating image nodes on the materials so therefore no materials just a white shader. I named both files .obj and .mtl the same but still no luck, took a look at both with notepad I don't see any path errors. Anyhow, any Ideas?
If you import the OBJ file you should also be importing the MTL file into blender as long as it is in the same directory. Then you can view the material by clicking the materials tab. When you modify any of the materials it will then save a new.MTL file
Okay..okay..but I've read that .mtl file also have parameter "d" which is responsible for opacity. I'm trying to change it, but it doesn't work. I guess, that is it because we using wrong PixelFormat for alpha manipulation..Anyway,like for your staying at home and making 2torials.
DUDE! I forgot to add this link in the description paulbourke.net/dataformats/mtl/ According to this the -d flag represents the dissolve or ... wait for it... THE OPACITY! :) Thanks for watching though man!
Oh an also you need to enable blending. I am very bad at that but there are some people on my discord channel that have worked with transparency and Metal before.
I would say that basic mtl is outdated but the application of normal maps, speculator maps, roughness maps metallic maps etc... with MTL is very powerful.
So what? My OBJ won't load with textures. I edited the MTL file according to this vid. And it still won't load with textures. So what's the point? Why did I get this vid looking for "how to edit MTL"? Like usual, very basic stuff for beginners, no stuff at all for more advanced users. Dislike.
No. Not straight forward at all. All obj files load into blender pink, despite have the mtl file in the same directory. This video offers no answer to that.
@@2etime My point is that mtl files seem to be useless without the images it references. Yet every time you download an obj, the useless mtl is included.
True! I think in blender you can export without them. Also if the obj is pink, it could be the color channels being out of wack. If you come to my discord I may be able to clear things up though :)
