If the JP twitter uses she/they id assume that’d be Achts pronouns then. Unless jp uses both female and neutral pronouns and is just another case of Nintendo not remembering their own games lore again

@@rizirone Acht hasn’t been refrered to with she/her pronouns since Splatoon 2. Ever since they were revealed to be in Side Order they haven’t been referred to with any pronouns in tweets or official Side Order material. (They are also not referred to with pronouns in the interview either!) Splatoon localization has many problems but Acht’s pronouns aren’t one of them. Their use of she/her has been essentially retconned. I see this thrown around as localization messing up a lot- and that’s understandable as Splatoon localization isn’t the most reliable at times- however that that isn’t the case this time.

Acht mentions turning down a position on the front lines of the Octarian army, implying eligibility. Only female Octolings were stationed on the Octarian army front lines. Therefore we can conclude that Acht is female, and as such, referring to her with 'she' is correct. Also, to use a word is to speak or write it; not to have it spoken or written by someone else about you.

Also, even if Acht is cis, cis girls can still use they/them or she/they pronouns lmaooooo When referring to Acht, "she"and "they" are both correct. They aren't mutually exclusive, although right now "they" seems to be the most used one from the original sources, so I think it's better to stick with "they" hehe!

Well concept art is just that - concepts. They’re meant to invoke a feeling over solid ideas, which is why so much of it was changed or scrapped. It’s pretty normal when anything is being made, since it can be harder to invoke some emotions or ideas in a video game than in a single art piece.

That's how 90% of early game concepts go lol. It's not often that the first concept sketch of a design is kept until the end.

@@everest5718Yeah of course its normal that concept art gets scrapped but I think they meant it like: Why did they scrap the early concepts that were good with the later ones that were bad and bland?

@@GreenNinj4 the thing is, we don’t know what the early concepts even were, so any “good” ideas are just speculation on our part. How do you know the early concepts were good, aside from your own assumptions based on the art? We don’t even know if that concept art was actually used in development, or if it was just used to make the trailer more interesting. Even if the early ideas were “good”, it might not have been possible to implement with their development schedule, budget, or demands from higher ups. So many factors go into making a game, and concept art is always completely different from the final game because it’s exploratory - figuring out which ideas are good and can fit into their game before implementing them. Besides, I would argue Side Order is far from “bland” anyways lol

@@everest5718 We fight an AI again, 8 has no developement, Dedf1sh does nothing, the gameplay is too repetitive because theres only 3 bosses and 5 objectives and the final boss follows the same formular the previous 4 did. They didnt care to write a cool story and just put everything in the dev diaries, which are 60% Marina saying that they are on worldtour and bland programming stuff, while the interesting parts gets rushed. You dont even have an interaction with the character who‘s soul you free nor did they care to show 8 or Dedf1sh getting their memory back. Its the definition of a bland lol.

She wasn't pointless. For me, it's still insane she got to be in the game *at all*. Just like Harmony: suddenly a character we only knew from the band posters is actually here in Splatoon. We always found out more info from Art books or magazines.

‚Acht‘ is the German word for ‚eight‘. the „ch“ -sound is pronounced a little differently in german, while In English it’s used as a softer „k“ - sound, so I wouldn’t say it’s pronounced like ‚oct’ exactly. I wouldn’t know how to spell out the German pronounciation in text form though.

Not really, actually (Though kind of). On the official page they are refered to as a "she" and so they are in Octo Expansion. What exactly happened is unknown, maybe it's a she/they situation, maybe they came out as non-binary sometime between the games, it's up to headcanon. But condidering the official page still uses She/her these pronouns are still valid to use.

They're referred to by They/Them in the game from what I recall during dialogue. By marina. So idk about you I think that indicates something

Actually she is confirmed to be female by nintendo in a tweet explaining her beck when octo expansion released, so we have known her pronouns for years now

​@@helion_ut Iirc in japan they were always referred with gender neutral pronouns and it was just mistranslated in Splat 2 / Octo Expansion. Acht is exclusively referred with they in Side Order. Using she would still be incorrect going by this logic, but I could always be wrong y'know, I'm only human! I think you should do your own research on the matter if you're interested, I plan on doing so too! :D I think it's better to refer to them with they personally cuz it helps me getting better with people's pronouns irl! Y'know having the whole habit of if someone looks feminine they use she and vice versa is a very hard habit to break. So getting practice like that is always good y'know you wouldn't wanna use the wrong pronouns n all!
