Storm Jocelyn was passing over Scotland so I pitched my ultralight Vaude Lizard GUL 1P tent for a wind and waterproofing test to see if it would leak and/or collapse as the storm rolled through the UK. It's worth saying I've not been sponsored or supplied by Vaude. This is my own tent bought with my own money and I'm keen to see whether it might be a suitable choice for the Tour Du Mont Blanc.
If you enjoyed my video or need advice on gear I'll be pleased to help and please consider buying me a coffee: www.buymeacoff...
Thank you for your support, it's really appreciated.

My Vaude Hogan was still wproof after an overnight storm near Glenfinnan, but the poles eventually gave way. Vaude sent me new poles! Great company, with superb fabrics.

Pleasantly surprised I didn't have this one pegged for a stormcapable tent. Pretty cool.

Glad to see the old girl did us proud. I had it pitched a couple of times up on Dartmoor but never in any weather like that and I never used those titanium pins they called pegs!

Looks a bit wee Andrew. The sag as little as it was reminds me of the Vangos. Strikes me as a guaranteed fair weather job.

I must admit, I have always admired this tent, though I have never bought one as apparently, I have too many tents already!

I think it could be a bit nosey during the night with strong winds. But I could be wrong. It seems to very strong and once you use a trek pole too it will be even stronger. Nice test mate.

Did a lot better than I thought it would but due to its size or lack of I think I’d regard it as a just in case I get stuck out somewhere tent. Cavernous if you’re under 5 foot!

That's a fair point, but I expected more inside from the wet grass, need to get out in it this month.

Hi Andrew. with a planned bikepack tour of the Western Isles this spring including the windy environment that comes with, I'd be definitely taking a tent like that. Does it have external guying points to tie off and to protect against side winds? I'm going to be taking my Fjallraven 1 but would be interested in how that performs.. cheers Andrew. 👍

Hi Jim it just has the end guys and a double one holding up the main 'fishing rod ' pole. Theres a good snow cannon type test on Vaude channel showing it being blasted sideways and it doesn't appear to move much which I was pretty impressed with , worth a look. A
