Hello Vanessa - greetings from Poland. I think the canal system is a poorer place without characters like Ernie. Life was hard, but as Ernie said, he was fair. I thought your magnet fishing was very exciting. Fancy catching 4p. WOW! I hope you found plenty of yellow things, but remember, all that glistens isn't gold. However, natures golds are well worth searching for, in my opinion. The cruise to the pump out was very relaxing. Thanks for taking me along

Thank you for your kind comment, I was so lucky to spot the Yellow Hammer; I haven’t seen one before so to see one when I was looking for yellow nature to film was so exciting! The grey wagtail likes the water so I see them often near the canal. Have a lovely weekend and week ahead!🌻🙏

Another lovely vlog. You notice life around you. Lovely poems. I found a nappy pin and stake with my magnet the other day. I dropped my chain link in and got a bonus find. I don't celebrate Christmas it's to commercial now rather I celebrate the shortest day and the new year. I lean towards Buddhism rather than Christianity. Thanks for sharing and all the blessings I have may they be past onto you.

Your magnet fishing sounds about as successful as mine, although there are probably more uses for a nappy pin than 4p and a coin that won’t budge from the magnet! It is exciting but also quite dangerous when you think about what could be lurking at the bottom of the canal! Have a great weekend and wrap up!🌻🙏

my last visit to England, brothers rented a narrow boat, and we went from bath to devices and I found on the foot path a tennis bracelet very lucky as it was covered with dirt, but that’s my treasure

What a great vlog this week with a bit of boatman history thrown in🙂. l must say the wreath looks lovely as well as ur Xmas lights. How interesting about the windlass being so many of them of different sizes very educational as usual, last week l did a little research to the local canals that were by near to were l live but were filled in in the 1800's. Thanks again for taking time to share ur week.Simon xx

@@themindfulnarrowboat The area now is full of new housing estates but the old pub near my home was next to the canal, there are still little signs of the canal contours. This area was mined for coal and lime stone, but instead of locks they had inclines were one boat would use another boat to counter balance each other to rise and lower them selves to the canal height.

If you put two or three jubilee clips on the handle then if you drop it in the canal you can use your magnet to get it back.when I was a kid our favourite place to play was the swing bridge at winkwell but back then it was manual and you turned a big wheel to swing it

Hi Vanessa, from watching this video we have decided that we are going to go on a rainbow nature adventure! We're going to search for a colour for each day of the week, write and draw what we find in our journals and write a story or poems either at the end of each day or possibly a poem to represent the whole week.
