The old warden is terrifying

There was no reason for them to remove the Fireflies. They could’ve just given them a different use, or kept them only for the ambience that they create. Then for the update to the birch forests, they could’ve just delayed it instead of completely forgetting the idea of it.

The warden being close to axo's is a pretty good theory. Gotta remember, both naturally prefer dark places. Look at the the fact the warden gives you a blindness debuff when you're near it. It's in a deep dark cave and comes out of what I can only assume to be wet algae or moss that's well over grown. Axo's prefer water though definitely have the ability to evolve in high stress to be land creatures. So it's definitely 100% possible that it is a mutated evolved axolotl ._.

About the axolotl theory, there was also a patch note saying "The warden is not what it seems" Parallel to the axolotl variant one year earlier

in my opinion, they should add fire flies as a particle effect apearing only at night in the swamps, or make a block that has particle effects flying all around it and call it a firefly hive

fun fact: if u play the new disc 5, 11 and 13 they play a tune that actually mixes together

I guess I've been keeping pretty good track of this update, I got 22 out of 33! The new achievements were a fun discovery.

The Ender Dragon's death being "special" makes me think about how the "portal" in the Ancient City is kinda Dragon-sized? It seems like the Ender Dragon could fly through it pretty well.

The dragons new death could possibly be the next “dimension”. They don’t want to add a whole new dimension, but maybe they’ll revamp the end again. They revamped the end, villages, the nether, and caves so the next big change is likely to be unexpected. Many people complain that the end is still really boring with just the occasional scattered city, so perhaps since it has the whole sky island vibe you’ll be able to use the dragons death as a way to “free” the end and not only brighten it but make it the aether-esc land of minecraft veterans dreams

I think the name William makes the Warden 10 times more menacing

i think they deleted the ,,portal" from the files so people don't get too excited, but im still 100% sure its a portal, just look at it, it also has the requirements to be a portal, 1. a hard block (nether portal:obsidian, end portal: portal frame, here: reinforced deepslate) and heat (nether portal: flint & steel, end portal: eyes of ender are crafted with blaze powder, wich is defienatly hot, and here: below the portal, there is fire, alot of it and its on soul sand, making it even more hot) so its a portal, 1000000000000000000%

The only one I didn't know was the goats physically lose a horn when they drop one. That's awesome

Sculk catalysts also drop the most exp out of any skulk block so they're worth breaking.

I think the axolotl and warden just share inverted color pallets with one another which is good for color theory especially in concept art c: thats probably why they were heavily pictured together

The warden is an “abomination” (confirmed by the abomination roar emote in Minecraft dungeons), but abominations have only been summoned the illagers historically. This blue wool only confirms the ties.

And about the goat horn, I think that it will be used against the warden. If you use one in the deep dark, maybe it'll make the warden hear sound from everywhere, and not know where to go?

I really hope that they add a Skulk dimension with Skulk things, multiple Wardens, Enderman, more types of ancient cities, and new Skulk-like Mobs.

OMG I actually noticed about #32, I was just asking myself "why would they have some sort of giant portal on a large platform with nothing underneath... Or what IF there was something underneath it and no one knew" so I dug down and saw the laboratory and I was shocked

9:20 they could have just made frogs not eat the fireflies and keep them in as an ambient mob Like that just makes it seem like they forgot the bat even exists as a purely ambient mob

I think they should’ve called the update: Caves and Cliffs part 3. I think in that way the update wouldn’t have gotten that much backlash. It’s really unfortunate that the removed the birch forest and the fireflies…

i personally liked the old sculk sensors better, because they give you a more scary detail, like the antenna-like thing on top of it. Now it just looks like a bunch of tentacles, differently to the warden, who still has the antenna-like things as ears

I know a lot of people find the trypophobia-ish design for the warden and skulk creepy, but I find the final design muuuch more unsettling and also more fitting of minecraft. To me the old design kind of looks like an SCP foundation mod that’s trying a bit too hard to be frightening.

29/33 also I don't think they should have removed fireflies, just kept them as an aesthetic mob that spawns at night in swamps or mangrove swamps

One fact is that you used to be able to feed cookies to parrots, but, once Mojang found out that cookies are poisonous to parrots in real life, they removed the ability to do that!

I imagine they changed "The hollow" to "The sculk" to avoid comparisons with Terraria.

every single portal seems to have heat to activate then, along with something related to the dimension the nether is just fire. and the end portal has lava under it to heat it up and requires eyes of ender, which have blaze rods inside of them, meaning it needs heat and ender pearls. blaze rods are probably hotter than fire too. so maybe each portal requires heat to activate, the hotter, the more important, i mean, look at the one in the deep dark, so much soul fire, perhaps it will need sculk, and some sort of extremely hot item. edit: so explaining the soul fire, i think so called "ancient builders" always experiemented with heat to make a portal, knowing how to create them but not exactly how to light it. the end portal has lava under it, presumably to heat it up, maybe that was a failed experiment. i think they used the soul fire to attempt to heat this up, but they never had enough heat, and kept adding more. also, a sculk related item to go to a dimension where sculk was born doesn't make sense, so it probably requires souls instead, due to the warden having souls on his chest.

I think music Disc 5 is about a player who ventures into the deep dark, and is defeated by a warden. There's an intermission of music in the middle that I think serves a similar purpose to the pause in disc 13, where disc 11 would fit. At the end of the disc, it sounds like the player is running away before what I assume is the warden makes a lot of sounds, and the last sound is stretched out at the end to signify fading into unconciousness. that's just my theory, It just sounds like a lot of steps, and angry wardens, and bubbling lava, plus the Intermission

I think the redstone laboratory should be implemented to more structures. New players that could discover redstone will never step into the heart of the ancient cities randomly.

That warden just guarding that Ancient City

I am thinking of making a warden cannon called a Theta Cannon, basically it launches a warden with slime blocks and TE, making wardens super helpful. But to kill them, railguns are super helpful as they have a long range, same with a Thalaron cannon which uses TNT ignited by end crystals.

Here’s an interesting and maybe important(?) detail concerning the warden and axolotl. Axolotls are hostile towards frogs (specifically tadpoles). This could just be a random mob they’re hostile towards, but it seems odd that Mojang implies a connection between axolotls and wardens. And then the mob the axolotl is hostile towards is one of the only mobs added alongside the warden. The developers said the warden wasn’t meant to be a boss but was more for story. It’s just an interesting thing I noticed

The Immersive Portals and Fall Through mods allow you to "stack" the Overworld on top of the Nether. If you have this and disable vanilla Nether portals, you'd have to literally dig down to reach the Nether a la Terraria, requiring you to pass through the Deep Dark. My mod pack currently has the Fall Through and End Remastered mods (the latter requires 2 special Eyes from the Nether to activate an End portal), and I am planning on adding the Wild Update backport mod as well. Even without the Deep Dark, reaching the End and beating the game, in general, feels more satisfying this way.

I knew 29/33! I think that the Ender Dragon is a robot. Hear me out: The Dragon's death does not fuel the sculk, unlike every other *living* mob. Also, the Dragon's head can be powered by redstone. Finally, the crystals that heal the Dragon are crafted with ghast tears, which the ancient builders would have gathered in the Nether, before they fled. It's clear that the ancient builders built the dragon, but it went haywire and killed them.

I've been following the snapshots, so lets go! 1. Knew that, it's been around since 1.17. 3. Somewhat, I knew there were a lot of Ancient City related sounds in it, but I never took the time to watch a video analyzing the disc. 4. Yes, it's a shame we didn't end up with the cookie-dough icecream. 7. I was actually surprised that the sensor stayed exactly how it was when they first started tweaking it. After it was delayed until 1.19, I kind of figured they would attempt to change up how it works to make it easier to use or something. 8. I knew you could manipulate the movement, but that design is pretty cool! 12. Huh, I actually had no idea. Where did this info come from? Obviously those models look pretty similar to some of the concept art, but I don't remember them saying anything about that when they released the concept art. 13. Yeah, it was definitely a disappointing that Mojang didn't have enough time to come up with a new spectator vision, but that probably would've taken a long time to develop for just a small easter egg. 14. I also did not know about the campfire. What a strange detail. 16. I also did not know about that subtitle detail. 22. I don't believe it even has to be a splash potion, pretty sure normal water bottles work too. 24. Still sad about the birch forests and fireflies. 27. This is because all the mobs would interfere with the sculk sensors and Warden's detection. So yeah, remove all the shriekers and you have yourself a surprisingly safe area to live in. 28. I've only vaguely heard of that, and it is totally ridiculous. XD 29. Dang, there goes another point. I knew the hand-placed shriekers can't summon the Warden/give the darkness effect, but I have no idea about the bone thing or the slower-moving souls. Cool details, Mojang! 32. Some people wonder why the sculk sensors in the lights are water-logged. This is because sculk sensors that are water-logged do not make noise, making them perfect for hidden detection circuits. 33. I did not know that they could be placed on mud, but that makes sense, I did know that mangrove can be grown underwater though. Final score: 28/34

One of the old designs for the warden kinda looks like one of the enemies you face in Pixel Gun 3D on the last level of the second world in campaign mode with the dragon if you played the game you would know

The old warden is instantly going to be a thing of nightmares and probably should be a thing since it would really add onto the depths, and it would really be something that you would want to remove.

I feel like the "The axolotls are not what they seem" remark is just a throwaway reference to Twin Peaks, but that's probably just me.

Ngl when I first saw the new disc I was hopping the song would be some rock ish vibe or something to do with being sneaky like a spy movie movie type song

I'll try to make a mod that adds fireflys - even though I am not experienced in Java coding it will be (relatively) easy, I'll just create the model and put a bat's AI and some nice sounds on it.

I think they should keep fireflies, and add a glass jar so you can catch them and have another light source thats a tad brighter than a redstone torch

one thing i noticed is one of the early designs of the warden looked very similar to the axolotl, perhaps the warden was what once lived with the axolotls, and the axolotls where there eyes? since in the concept art with the warden and the axolotl, the warden seems to know what its got in his hand is an axolotl, even though it cant see

a part of disc 5 sounds like footsteps but if you reverse it it's a portal opening that's why people use it to open the portal in the center of an ancient city

1:37 this is the most insane end portal ever seen. Not only are there only 3 end portals but some of the frames are twisted, some have eyes some don't and the ceiling of the room is one block to high. This is hurting my eyes.

i watched a minecraft theory before, and i definitely think that the reinforced deepslate frame is a portal because its made of very hard materials, and has soul fire underneath it (we all know soul fires hurt more than regular fire, and irl blue fire is known to be generally hotter). this provides the heat (the end portal has lava underneath and nether portals need to be lit with fire) maybe the dragon being related to a future update means that maybe well need some dragons breath or maybe a similar but new thing to open the portal since dragons are kinda known for breathing fire/hot elements

in a game where trees float and steve can break said trees with his bare hands, AND frogs can eat frickin magma cubes and throw up some light i think you can get away with frogs eating fireflies, besides the only people who will get mad are the kinds of people who correct litteraly everything you do and or say
