I love my dachhound.

Dachshunds were originally bred to hunt badgers. The only ones that made it as pets back then were the ones that didn't have the killing instinct and they were given to their kids or something like that. Any kind of dog that size that has the guts to going after a badger is the most vicious dog there is. That being said though they were also the most precious loving animal I've ever owned. A huge dog one time went after the Dachshund I had when I was out with My fiance walking our dog in the park. I'm pretty sure our weiner dog could have handled its own but I wasn't taking that risk. I just had mental images of that big dog eating mine like a hot dog and not to mention my girlfriend was freaking out! I physically jumped in between the dogs and stupidly tried to stop that huge dog from getting mine! It was hard for my girlfriend to hold our dog back cuz she was trying to help me. I only outweigh the dog I was fighting by maybe 30 lb I think. It was huge. I literally ended having to put a bullet in it but I tried to get rid of it first I didn't want to shoot it. You pull out a gun it will stop most people but a dog has no clue! After I was done I'm laying there covered in blood gasping for air and she put our dog down and all that dog could do was come up and lick me and make sure I was okay. My little dog and My girl were crying. made me cry I couldn't stand to see either one of them upset I'm extremely protective! Either one of them left my side for days. Well after I got stitched up anyway. I take that back my little dog Stella a shot right on my chest so she could lick my cheek when she wanted to. I love that dog and that dog love me so much It would make most women jealous!! Lol. Both the girl and the dog were absolutely amazing and loving is they can get. Not only were they both worth The stitches But together they were easily worth dying for or killing for. That little dog would have done the same for me anytime.

They are excellent as watch dogs, smart, stubborn at times, playful, love to run and play, they love you so much, they love being held, and are lap dogs as well….Great dogs !!

Wendy Butler. I understand!! My son wanted one almost 5 years ago. I really wasn't into it!! I had never really cared much for dogs. Especially small dogs. Well, he now is my best buddy!! Their personality and affection are unbelievable!! Never a dull moment with a Doxie!! If you make the mistake of spoiling them............ oops!! 😂😂

My son has one of these The little dog is 13 now and the nicest most loyal dog I have ever known.

Wendy Butler I fell in love with them many, many years ago when I was babysitting for a neighbor who had one. I finally adopted one 10 years ago. My little boo-boo Head was my pride and joy. You know how they don’t have that standard “dog” behavior. They are a force to be reckoned with. And that stubbornness ? That is something else. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. Mine passed a little over a year ago. I was more than devastated. I’m hoping to get another one, when I know I can give it the love it will deserve.

Pain is almost an understatement. Trying to get my little guy to do something he doesn't feel like doing has taken years off my life. Still wouldn't trade it for the world though.

I have just seen your text about Maximus I am so sorry for your loss, my first was Maximus (maxi for short) he died in my arms in March 2014 and I still miss him so much then we got Peggy she was our princess but alas she had to be put to sleep 31st December 2016 due to complications with diabetes and cushions syndrome I miss her so much to now we have two daxi rascals Molly and Milo they are both 1 having more doesn't take away the pain of losing maxi and Peggy these are so loving just like the other two and just remind me of them in the things that they do love the all to bits and those other people own to xx

So sad I love each one I had and every one had there little thing that made them like that made them ther on I lost my Pennyane when we lost are home it was weary old it burnt to the ground it has ben 3 years I really fee the big big losses

I had a daschund when harnesses for small dogs were not available in my country. You cannot imagine how uncomfortable it is when you need to have a doxy on a leash but you know you cannot pull it. Especially when your dog also knows that you will not and his ears are working selectively :)

@@katarzynaslifierz1464 I watched the video again and only saw one leash attached to a collar, was the video changed or did I comment on the wrong video? I know what you mean, for several years I've been thinking my BabyGirl is deaf but I think she's just ignoring me. lol

@Dana Harvey haha, we pick up new harnesses all the time from the 99cent store just because one of my mom's dogs likes chewing them so that sounds about right. :)

I had 2 twin dachshunds one silky chocolate and one powdery chocolate, the silky one was named Juliet and the other Romeo (silky one was female ofc and the powdery one was male ofc) i miss the little guys, died of old age

It still hurt me wen I remember my family... as I always consider..dogs are family..

I know how you feel I kept telling my vet Peggy had diabetes they said she hadn't but in the end I was right stupid vets
