I can’t agree more on the losses. We lost our teckel, TEQUILA, age 14 to pancreas cancer. Needless to say how much we cried. It’s now 8 years ago and our daughter still greaves over her death. She was the center of the family and she knew it. The personality of this dogs is unique.

Dachshunds are the most loyal and entertaining breeds ever! I had to put my 13 year old male down last month as age caught up with him. Heart broken over losing him… I have a female who is doing good. I recently sold my business but I took them with me everyday for 13 years till I sold it a few months ago. Needless to say my pups hated it when I wasn’t around….which was very rare…

It is so sad to lose one of them. We lost one each of the last 2 labor day weekends. Exactly one year apart they left us one after the other. We now have 4 and will probably get more if we lose any of these. A friend just lost one of his that he had for over 18 years. Just so sad. The only comfort we found was to get more. We figure since we cannot replace them we can pay honor to those that are gone with new one's. Dachshunds (or Teckles as the Germans call them) are very special.

We got my first dachshund when I was four. They are my favorite breed although I have owned others. At one point when she had a litter of pups my aunt wanted to get one. They lived on a 350 + acre ranch. My uncle kept telling her no. "any animal on a ranch needs to earn their place". Well after a while he relented. They took the pup home and a day or two later my uncle was herding cattle. When he returned he told my aunt that "Lady" was the best damn cow dog he ever had. She could get in and nip their heels and be out so as not to get kicked. She was still a pup and had received no training what so ever. They are a wonderful breed for families.

If other dogs are in the house they know that due to their sense of smell and massively good hearing. So would eventually settle anyway plus Daxies usually just sleep a lot.

Experts say dash hounds should not be left alone but yours seems well adjusted. My sister can not leave hers and even leaves the tv on for her and lots of chew toys. Thank you for sharing yours with us. So sweet and cute!

'Experts' obviously don't know. I have dachsies since 1990 and none of them ever had problems being left alone for a while. You can train a dachsie like you can train another dog.

We lost our mini Daschund suddenly last Easter. He was fit and fine, but his digestive system suddenly went paralysed. He'd gone within a week, I still cant believe he's not with us anymore. His name was Alfie and he was nearly 10 years old.

So sorry for you're lose. I lost my boy two years ago, he was 12 yrs old. He had heart failure for years but meds helped keep him going that long. I still miss him every day. Please consider adopting or do get another doxie.

@@davidr7872 We thought about that, but I think all I would see is Alfie, and I couldn't handle that. So we had a Cockapoo who we named Teddy. He's an adorable bundle of energy and we love him to bits, but I still think of Alfie everyday.

We I was a little girl growing up we had 4 of them - not all together but when one would get sick or something and had to be put to sleep we'd get another one - we had a black and tan male and his name was Fritz, a red male Fritz again, then red male Hans, then another red male Gus. All 4 got slipped discs and it was hard to watch them lose all control of the back of their bodies. But they were cuddly sweet hearts and I love them very much and they were maniacs.

not always they case they are prone to some kind of problem in the brain which makes them be overweight but its not cured by dieting as food isnt the problem eventually it kills them …i know as i lost a lovely doxie to this i still muss him though its a long time ago

We had a standard doxie. We were asleep when our home caught on fire. He lost his life waking us up. Miss him so much. He was lots of entertainment.

Das Video ist einfach herrlich. Genau so muss es sich bei unseren geliebten Rocky abgespielt haben. Er musste vor über einem Jahr, im Alter von 13 Jahren mit der heimtückischen Krankheit Morbus Chusching, leider von uns gehen. Er war unser 1. Hund und wird es auch bleiben. We currently have 4 of them. They are rather reliable on their own while we are gone. We had one (who is now passed) who, we would trust without a doubt all the time. We have one now who is a pup (5 mos old) who I might not trust by himself, though. He will probably develop in time. They are very adorable companions. They tend to become very attached to their owners and whine a bit from time to time when they cannot get to us. And they love to chew. We have some wounded furniture to prove it. But we could never be mad at them.

I have had 3 they have passed away,they never chewed furniture or wires they were so good , ten years later and I have a new puppy I got her at 10 weeks she is now 8 months she has chewed wires has marked my dinning room chairs chewed shoes she has made up for the other 3 no way you can get mad she showers me in kisses goes where ever I go she is like Velcro ! She became a lady xmas day and she got the cutest little bitches britches she was beautiful in them !

My son's dachshunds Ferg was left home one day, and he had an emergency that kept him at work longer than usual. His dog Ferguson knows he's not allowed to poop on the floor.... so... he pooped on the wall, instead. He couldn't help it, so he didn't get in trouble with Dad... plus, we were so amazed at him, trying so hard to keep it off the floor, we just laughed. They really are the smartest dogs.

If they have company of other dogs they would be fine. My daughters dog starts as soon as he knows everyone is leaving. The cat is left with him. It makes no difference. Plenty of things have been tried with him.

He's totally adorable!!! That is call a little bit of (just a tiny bit) separation anxiety. It's perfectly normal on dogs. Some have no problem with it. Others will turn your house or apartment up side down 😆

Recently got a Mini Dashund pup. She gets so upset when people leave; but I remain home making sure she does not cause trouble. Throughout the day her activities consist of: - Laying down on my other dogs bed. - Chasing me through the house for 20 minutes at a time. - Chewing mats and rugs. - Stealing unattended shoes - Urinating in the most unexpected places.

Ma teckel nain à poil long est vraiment très affectueuse et joueuse, je ne regrette pas d'avoir choisi cette race de chien. J'avais avant un fox terrier à poil dur, qui était aussi très gentille, et je m'aperçois aujourd'hui qu'elles ont le même tempérament, têtues, joueuses et très calines !

My two have only been left alone once when they were babies ..They howled so loud the neighbors were concerned.They are sisters and now at 3 yrs old have never been left alone since. I have a dog sitter and the dogs love her so it’s expensive but money can’t buy the happiness these two rascals bring to my life.

I recently adopted a 17 yr old long hair whose owner died. It took him a couple of weeks to adjust to new home but now he follows me everywhere. If I go out for a few hours, he’s convinced I’m gone forever and is so joyful when I return!

L'amore che ti danno è incomparabile...Il mio cane quando lo lasci ok a casa ulula...E poi torno e mi fa un sacco di feste.Il gatto si struscia e miagola... È un amore decisamente puro ed incondizionato....

Des amours de vrais amours qui vous aiment et ne vous traihirons jamais. Ce petit teckel tellements craquant il est ravi ça mament est revenu. Ça fait 55 ans que j ai successivement eu des chiens et à 62 ans j'ai vu du monde pour être seule mais j amai avec mes chiens jnai été seule.
