After picking up a set of 34" Interco Super Swampers off my buddy Kevin a few weeks ago I decided it was time to mount them on Project Cheapfinder, my 1995 WD21 Nissan Pathfinder Project.
I see asked all the time, "How big of tire can you put on a stock Nissan Pathfinder" so I figured it was time to answer that question.

Super underappreciated rigs. 9"+ rear diff, 31 spline axle shafts.. My first car was a WD21, beat on it for 7 years didn't owe me a dime. Love the blue and blue interior on this one, and the classic vg30 exhaust flange leak LOL Great vid, looks good!

Brother I'm in love with your Bitchfinder. 😂 That's what I call mine. I'm totally copying you with the SSRs... do MORE Bitchfinder content! So fucking awesome. Do you have an email I could use some help with mine. Same year color everything but that badass set of 34s... put manual lockers on the front. EDIT: Mines an SE but basically just cosmetic stuff is the difference.

Sling a poo pipe from the frame side trac bar bracket over to the driver side frame or crossmember for some serious support and easy peasy lazy status , and yes been there and done it and it works! Rust is lighter then carbon fiber🤘🏾

Just bought one of these as a woods rig for.750 bucks. Super solid truck body and frame. Tomorrow.it gets some 31 Kelly safaris and see where we can get it

This is awesome been watching you for along time now, super excited to see how you build the project “cheap finder”. Been wanting to get into off roading, crawling, trailing like what you guys do but cannot afford to build a 100,000 dollar mall crawler hell I cannot afford 20 grand lol. I want a rig like what you & your buddies run don’t look like much but there tuff & go anywhere!!!! Anyway keep up the great content I’ll be waiting for more!!!!👍🏼🍻

Hell yea! The budget is non-existent on this one so cheap is the way shes gonna go! $800 purchase and $500 tires has me running for only $1200 and the next upgrades are $free99!

Where are you located? You should be able to pick up a really decent 4x4 for 10k that is capable...For a lot less than that you have a variety of things you could find that would be good trail rigs just probably stock or close to...Starting stock is a good thing if you haven’t been on a trail before or anything like that cause then you can learn with a rig that won’t get you into super crazy situations or shouldn’t lol plus building it yourself let’s you learn as you go and have a good sense of your vehicle and know where things are and what’s been replaced and what hasn’t..Hopefully you get into it soon!

Haha oh I know a few things about decent wheelers. Search the Pathmaker on my channel. My main wheeling rig is a one-ton axle swapped Pathfinder on 42" tires, full exocage, dual transfercases, hydro steering etc. The point of this project is to keep things super cheap for everyone on a budget. Annnnnnd on that note it sat for the past almost year, but I tossed a new starter in it this week and shes runnin great! Time for a whole bunch of new Cheapfinder videos!

34x9.5 swampies are a little taller and narrower I think. Pizza cutters worked well for me long time. I kinda want a pathy now, tho. :]

These ones are the 10.5's I know they make a tall skinny LTB in a 9.5" wide that would be a GREAT tire for a stock Pathfinder.......Pizza cutters for the win!

Haha even better! In my stupid fashion after putting about 50km on them I hopped on a ferry and took a 300km road trip to do some rock crawling, so it was a bunch of firsts in the ole hunk of junk if you search for S11E18 on my channel its the first video of my road trip!

Haha I killed the damn starter and its been sitting since that day. I did pull and weld the rear diff one afternoon but its dead in the yard with a flat tire currently. Worst part is I have a new starter on my workbench.............buuut there is 10" of snow and its -8* outside and that doesn't seem like time to swap a starter out!

Do you think the same applies to a 1995 Nissan 4x4 Hardbody d21 V6? Ive got 31 X 10.5's now, but would like to put 33 x 10.5 or 9.5s on. Thanks for putting out such kick ass poor mans tips! You the best!

Absolutely, in fact its even easier on a d21 because they're essentially a Pathfinder with a 1.5" body lift stock. The secret to putting larger tires on the Nissans is, go skinny, so your 9.5s and 10.5s will work with minimal trimming, everyone always wants the 12.5" wide and thats when they rub really badly, and also when the steering hates life even worse (lots of more torque on the tirerods with the wider tires)!

How big can you fit with the oe lift (jeep or Ford coils with cranked torsion )? Looking to get some new tires for my beater

I wouldn't go larger than 34's even with a lift. The Pathmaker was on 35's for years while still IFS and the 35's require a ton of trimming and they're super hard on steering parts!

Bone stock for now. Ive got a set of 98 cherokee front coils that I can slip in for 2” of lift but for now its just stock height.

Absolutely. The d21s are 1.5" taller than the Pathfinders stock, so its even easier to fit larger tires on the d21s than on the Pathys.

What size of Q clips are you using for your roof rack ??

It came with it so I'm not entirely sure. The rails look like they're Yakima and the basket is just some cheapo no-name brand I bought used for $40

The roof racks came with it. They're ones that just grab the door/drip rail. Pretty standard mounting for a roof rack with no drilling. These ones or Thule but i'm sure there is lots of brands, any roof rack designed to clamp without rails will work.

I love these things. I've owned and driven the same one since 2001 and its going strong (the black one in the background). They are strong running engines, common problems are rust along the rear frame rail near the back tires, transmissions can get hard to shift from people using the wrong trans fluid and they like to have exhaust leaks at the manifold. Other than that they take an absolute beating, great bang for your buck! Stay tuned for more videos with this thing, Idler Arm Brace, Welded rear end, poor mans suspension lift are all comin up soon!

I have a 2001 in my driveway right now. Ive never owned one before so I should try putting the 34s on it, there isnt quite as much room it seems so it’ll be tight!

Yup, the stock lego rims are just a 15" x 7" rim so you'll have no problem fitting a 10.5" wide tire on the 7" rim. I used to run a 12.5" tire on an 8" wide rim for years, I like a skinny rim, it grabs the bead of the tire better when running low air pressure!

Its not too bad, but I don't want the panhard to rip off so I've got a nice rusty gross piece of 4" flat bar that I'm going to weld on it with my eyes closed.

Problems with living in a rainforest! Thats pretty common around here, at least we dont have a ton of road salt to rust everything else out!

I'm lazy and suck at mechanics haha........I need to slap a new starter in it. Literally died on me at the end of this video and wont restart and it hasn't moved since. Buuut I did pull and weld the diff while it sat.

yea they're really hard to get at. The secret is to reach in from the front and then twist as you pull it out and it should fit out fine, i've definitely spent many hours fighting with those things over the years!
