I just bought the CBR500R. I'm in Europe and finishing the A license, meaning I will be able to drive any bike. The bike I trule want is the RS660 but financially not viable at the moment. So I chose a bike I could buy in cash that was decent. When I buy the RS it will be in cash. It was a hard choice to make, going against your emotions is pretty hard. Like going after adrenaline while driving. But I'm pretty sure it pays off to be rational in the end.

I only bought a bike after a couple friends were killed in a crash. I was a reckless kid until that happened, and probably would have been there with them if I had a bike at that point. It definitely humbled me and taught me a lesson about racing after drinking and speeding in general. To this day every time I swing a leg over a bike, I think about that crash and it makes me ride much safer. I do wish I would have gotten a couple rides in with them before it was their time tho

Age calms a man down. But fear can calm a man in a matter of seconds. Fear is being hard on the brakes and as your back tire is catching up with the front one. Then, just before you high-side, you catch a glimpse of your rearview mirror and it's completely filled with the grill (Only the grill) of a Chevy van. Did you ever have something scare the hell out of you? Something that sped up the calming down process? (I let go of the brakes, straightened out and rode away - on the white line between the lanes. Back when i was in college '93 a classmate worked as a emt with a ambulance crew and he told me a crazy story. He knew i rode a motorcycle and asked me if i wore a helmet. And i said yes. The story was the police were chasing a bike at night and as the motorcyclists was turning right onto another highway at a high rate of speed 130+ he laid it down. They were the second on the scene with the trooper. The bike hit the left guard rail along with the rider, then flew across the other lanes of traffic. He said they found a torso and no head not far from the bike. He said the highway was shut down as they looked for his head. They ended up finding it at a 45° angle opposite the bike still in the helmet. He said it was like a bank shot in pool. Ill never forget that story because i used to hit that turn on my motorcycle at a good speed myself. Slow down live another day.

Thanks for being one of the few influencers/content creators that spreads a good message. I'll admit that I have done some street Rossi stuff on familiar back roads. That being said, I'm wearing full gear as well. One of the biggest things that prevents me from pushing too hard on any of those roads is my children. I need to continue save some money for track days. They seem like the best way to have fun in a safe, controlled environment and also just improve my riding ability. Thank god I'm still happy with ripping a Ninja 250R. Yeah it's not that fast in a straight line but it keeps up to normal highway speeds just fine and is a blast to chuck around twisties. I am not saying this to be rude or mean or the criticize others, while I totally agree with all the gear all the time, without a steel shell around us all the time, gear only does a moderate amount to protect us. I am 59. My first bike was a 1984 yamaha fazer. I worked as a deputy for a few years. For the last 40 I have been a paramedic. A flight medic a flight nurse and an er nurse. There is only a certain amount gear can do please everyone, ride safe. It's easy to go 150 in a few seconds. It's very hard to go from 150 to 50.
@xPRODIGYxGAMER
@xPRODIGYxGAMER Год назад
@@JohnGalt-vr3lx Realistically if you aren't speeding gear will nearly always save your life unless you end up completely under a car which is extremely unlikely. Most motorcycle accidents occur at speeds under 30mph and at the point of collision its closer to 21mph at impact. Prepare for the most likely scenario, not the unlikely one. If you aren't going 150 like a dumbass you'll likely survive if you wear your gear. There is a reason why gear safety data is fucking solid and heavily pushed. And proper gear is an important conversation because if going 150 was the difference between life and death then explain why motosports is so safe when they are crashing at triple digit speeds all of the time.

@@wasw In the US that's too slow. Our highways are sometimes 120 kph or higher, and nobody drives that slow on them. You need to be able to keep up with traffic (it would be like jogging in busy streets in the UK as a comparison, the speed is too slow). I also started with a 250cc when I was 14 years old in the US (when I got my license so I could drive to school and engineering prep classes). Its a pretty slow bike, but at least in town taking off from the stop lights its adequately fast, but it barely does over 120 kph so its just outright dangerous on any freeway.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I have been riding since 1967 and I was a Paramedic for 45 years and retired in 2018. I watch these videos in RU-vid of bikers riding at extremely high speeds, filtering at 30 mph faster than traffic and then they get mad when a car pulls out in front of them a quarter mile away and get hostile towards the driver. A lot of riders today have no common sense. I was young too and I was speeding quite a bit when I was younger. I thought I was invincible. I even rode a Honda RS250RR for 10 miles on an Interstate highway with the police chasing me. I was very foolish. This is the first video that although was about a sad occurrence, is teaching in a positive way about the risks involved in our sport. I'm 70 years old now but after being a Paramedic all those years and treating riders with all types of injuries, I still wick up the gas now and then BUT quickly get a grip on reality and back it down. Thank you again for your teachings and compassion for both motorcycling and fellow riders. You are to be commended.

Cruisers are also susceptible to severe accidents, with an estimated 11 percent of riders killed riding them every year. Cruisers account for 50% of bike crashes. You really are safer going fast because objects like cars are moving stationary a cars going 50mph you're going 75mph you are going 25mph past that car and a good chance they don't see you until they are behind you. Sorry but going the speed limit on the freeway is just asking to get hit from behind.

@das_minuskind6187
@das_minuskind6187 9 месяцев назад
@@TheOriginalJadolph Honestly it's brutal. Maybe skipping the 600cc is not the best idea. But with the prices of 600cc bikes atm I just had to go for the bigger bike. The weight is noticeable and so is the reduced turning angle. No one talks about that but turning the R1 vs the R3 is painful. Also your stability on low speeds is worse. That iswhat I find to be the hardest to get used to with the upgrade. Also, and this may apply to the 600cc bikes as well, you will have to be really careful with your throttle in suboptimal weather conditions. I am loosing the rear on low rev (4-5k rpm) in urban environment on wet concrete. And I am not gunning it what-so-ever. Or going sideways on the freeway accelerating and turning at the same time. Absolutely need to watch wtf you are doing and when you are doing it and Also your tyre temperature. The bigger tyres need longer to get some heat into them. I furtunatly had a guardian angle but you know what I mean. I don't want to scare you away from that idea but I have had my scary situations and I think you will too so I wanted to honestly warn you. Aside from that, ABS never hört nobody. Trust me locking up the rear on a bigger bike happens a lot faster and is very scary. But as long as you don't turn off your brain you should be fine. Thanks for reaching out I hope I can help. Ride with your family and friends in mind. Greetings from Germany ✌️

Heavy stuff and a reality we all face out on these streets. Sorry to hear you lost a friend. There are definitely smarter and safer ways to ride that reduce risk significantly, but some degree of risk will always be part of riding unfortunately. Managing your speed and riding defensively can help, but they aren’t foolproof either. I personally default to trying to stay away from cars as much as I can. People can feel however they want to about that. I guess one of the reasons I like off road riding so much is because it gives me an opportunity to fully enjoy riding without having to think so much about this stuff. Track days can be the same I hear. At the end of the day, adding a dirt bike and/or track bike to the garage helps some of us reduce the miles we spend in traffic with distracted and speeding drivers. It’s not perfect and it often involves extra planning, loading bikes into a trailer or vehicle, and unloading them at your riding location etc, but videos like this give me greater appreciation for the added safety that comes with taking that route. Thanks for sharing man. Be safe and keep doing you.

I am 56 with a 36 year old mindset and two small children still (10 and 13). I have been watching you for a couple months and have enjoyed your content. This one is exceptionally informative of things I already know but still spoke to my inner-self. I rode my first motorbike at 6 flew my first plane at 8. I saw my dad on motorcycles my whole childhood ,but I bought my first new bike in 2014 DRZ400SM. I have been wanting sport bike for some time. I just never knew what to get. I tend to research everything before making large purchases and getting reviews from people like you. I wanted the Apilia RS660 Extrema but it takes 6 weeks for delivery and Ducatti is above my pay grade. I wanted a GSX-R600 until I listened to you bash the squid crowd. I don't have a "crowd type personality". It's enough to just land in the sports bike community. So I opted for the Kawasaki 2023 NINJA® ZX™-6R KRT EDITION. All this said, thank you for encouraging me to buy this bike. I was concerned it may be a bit more than I can handle. I watched a vid yesterday by you where you said "...it's better to ride a fast bike slow then a slow bike fast". I am moving to Clarksburg, WV and will travel to Morgantown for work. The DRZ single cylinder will make the trip but, not for long. It has 43,000 miles. I am a careful rider. That bike hasn't been any faster than 88 mph. I like to jump to speed quickly and hit the twisties a little faster than the posted speed. I will NEVER ride faster than 90 unless I needed to get home in an emergency. It's just good to see guys making content encouraging people to ride smarter and safer. I work in healthcare. I am a surgical tech and have seen people die from making poor choices. Because of you, I am buying my first full set of real riding gear. I have always just looked for the cheapest way out. Sticky side down, right?

I have a 2023 BMW G310R and it's extremely nimble and a blast to ride. Figure 8s and slow speed maneuvers are a joy. If you want dual sport BMW has the G310 GS. Little taller but also another nimble machine. The G310R is more urban commuting. They are extremely reliable. I test drove a Ducati scrambler, KTM390, and a KTM790. I had the most fun on the G310R. I paid cash and that was that. Be sure to get proper training. Motojitsu is great and there is an awesome book called proficient motorcycling. This books focuses on physics and the dynamics of a motorcycle. For me many light bulbs went on while reading the book as it answers the questions like why does my bike do that?. I ride with full gear all the time. Full face helmet and a daniese airbag vest. Stay within the posted speed limits. I also recommend you go to a parking lot and really get good at emergency breaking, practice drills and evasive maneuvers. I do this 2 times a week. 3 days ago I was about to head through an intersection with a green light and there was a highway off ramp. I had the brakes covered and I down shifted to 2nd gear. This woman came off the highway looked me dead in the face and at the nearly the last moment she decides to go. I progressively squeezed the brakes, swerved and downshifted to 1st in one smooth motion. She had complete utter fear in her face from the near miss. I could of been a hood emblem for a moment but because I had been practicing emergency maneuvers I was not startled. I was ready and waiting and to me was no different then evading a pot hole. I wish you the best in your motorcycling journey. It's so liberating and clears your head. Enjoy!

Sadly, this happening to someone else doesn't mean you're more susceptible of this happening to you. When they say that motorcycles are "34 times riskier than cars", or whatever number, doesn't mean that you can actually draw the short straw and it's inherently riskier. It means that whenever you are in an accident, damage gets amplified because of you basically absorbing all the damage without any filter. Cars are actually involved in way more accidents. Motorcycles are just more fatal. There actually are ways of riding way safer than most people do, even people who would swear they ride safe but they don't. Bikes are usually associated with rebels and idiots who feel they are above everything until they die, but the world of bikes actually belongs to the ones who have half a brain and won't leave the other half spread on the pavement. There are a few exceptions, but most of them are actually to blame for what happened.

When you said he was in the military, that part made a ton of sense. When I was in, everyone that rode was getting in over their heads with bikes that were too much for their experience level. They make us take MSF courses to ride on base, but that doesn't set you up for a liter bike.

I had an old coworker that had an R6 and he hit someone pulling out of their driveway when he was about 27yrs old, he's now 30+ with a TBI and wheelchair bound. His mother who is every bit of 70+ has to take care of him day in and day out. He effectively ruined her life by having some fun in his. Don't be like him. His story keeps me grounded and not trying to be crazy on these things. Ride safe!

I was told after both of my close calls that I needed to learn one thing….. find something worth living for so you’ll want to go home after each ride. I have my son…. So when I ride I keep the bell he got my on my keys so I can see it.🤝 we both ride.

Speeding accidents will always be a problem, especially for younger people. Here in Germany the Motorcycle Licence is restricted by power depending on the age. It starts at 16 Years with 14 PS, then 18 Years with 48 PS and with 24 Years it's open power. I think meanwhile this would be a good concept for cars to.

To be clear, Adobomoto stated all causes of motorcycle deaths in this video. Of 5,579 riders that died, 34% was due to speeding, 27% involved alcohol, and 38% was due to riders not wearing helmets. In total, those percentages add up to 99%. I believe the remaining 1%, which is 56 riders, of motorcycle deaths are traffic incidents. Stay safe everyone!

Ethics are not ethics when ethics are overshadowed by hypocrisy. Glad you spoke of riding safety and called out other "RU-vidrs" for their stupidity. I like my speed too. But there is a time and place for everything. Triple digit speeds are not cool in and around other motorists. I've lost two friends from reckless speed. And it's not the memories of their warm smile I remember most. It's the "broken record" conversations about "It's only a matter of before someone dies." Have fun no doubt. But consider the grave consequences of your reckless actions.

The cop came up to me and said: do you know how much it's going to hurt if you go down at 110mph? I said I don't want to find out. He told me to slow down and let me go. Never asked for any ID or registration or anything. I mean, the highway was empty and I was miles away from any civilization. Maybe if I did that in city traffic it would be a different story.

I know of three people that are no longer with us. The first died at 18 on a Harley Sportster hitting the back of a Cadillac at high speed. The second was 26, he got his Ninja tangled up under a diesel truck on the freeway. That was a closed casket funeral. The third was a young guy I didn't know. He looked to be with his HS friends in cars goofing off around town. I saw this one. He was obviously a new rider and tried to pass his friends at an intersection. But his friends made a left turn with no signal and he hit them dead center. He flew up over the top of the car and landed at a corner hitting his head on the curb. I took three MC classes in my 15th summer. And was on a 650cc in the last class. The same year my friend with the Sportster died. In 45 years riding I've never been in a collision. "Ride to Live - Live to Ride" has great meaning to me. Even so, shit can happen, and you can't control other drivers. So expect the unexpected...

About 17 years ago I was a Prospect and was following the Senior Prospect, a retired CHP Motor Officer, and he jumped through a hole that wasn't big enough for both of us, I had no idea were we where nor were we where going so as soon as a break opened I nailed it to catch up, then the lights came on, the car behind me was an unmarked Sheriffs Motor Deputy in a car due to bad weather, he caught up at the same time I caught up with the Senior Prospect and we both stopped. Senior Prospect flashed his badge and was given a verbal warning, I of course got a ticket. I showed up for my court date to try and get Drivers School and the Judge looked at the charge, "Failure to obey a Traffic Control Device", she asked me what I had not obeyed, and I told her, the speed limit sign, she looked at me confused and I explained what happened and that I had disobeyed the 45mph sign by going 87mph, the Deputy had known when I got left behind that I was going to have to catch up, the Judge told me I was very lucky that this was how the Deputy wrote out the ticket as, had I been given a speeding ticket I would have been jailed, my bike impounded and possibly lost my license, she did let me have the Driving School as I had been honest about what I had done!

So, fun thing about the laws in Sweden where i'm from, if you're going 20mph, or more, above the speed limit, you lose your license for a minimum of 2 months and get a ticket for about 800 USD. But going 150 mph in a 50mph zone would cause you to losing your license for a year and not get it back once the year is over, so you'd have to redo ALL your licenses (motorcycle, car, truck, buss, moped, tractor and different trailer licenses), it could also land you in jail up to 6 months, depending on the judge and the fine would be around the 2000-3000 USD mark. The worst part of it all is that the licenses in Sweden is far from cheap, (car = 3000 USD, motorcycle = 1500 USD, truck = 8000 USD, buss = 5000 USD) so if you're already hauling ass once you pass the cops, you pin that throttle and hope they didn't see your plates (if you have any at all).

I have ridden for almost 40 years. When I switched to streetbikes, and especially after having a family, I used to go through times where I would worry about getting hurt, maimed, or killed. It would influence how much I rode and in what conditions. Watching my mother waste away and die from cancer a few years ago gave me a different perspective. I would much rather bleed out in a ditch than have that fate. I don't ride stupid but the danger doesn't stop me from riding today.

I live in Texas. First off, that's very important. Lane filtering is illegal. Lane splitting is questionable. Can you get away with it? Most of the time, the answer is yes. Should you? Most of the time, the answer is no. The reason is, people here don't pay attention to ANYTHING. I swear, the most written ticket here, is for using an unauthorized device while driving. (Cell phones) Even construction workers don't pay attention. Last year, I was traveling down Interstate 40 in Amarillo, Texas. I was traveling just under highway speed. Speed limit is 60, I was doing 55. Some guy was in front of me, the highway was busy (late rush). A construction crew had not put up any signs, there was no warning, it was dark, the traffic in front of me was blocking my view. We came over the bridge and right in the travel lane, was a construction truck at a dead stop. I barely missed death by an inch. Literally. I ended up getting a very bruised leg due to it. The construction company tried to say it was my fault (naturally), however the judge threw the ticket off of my record and I absorbed zero costs for the truck I took the light off of with my leg. The moral of the story? Wear your gear, watch what others are doing, and pay attention far in front of you. I made one crucial mistake. I was too close to traffic in front of me. I left myself no time to react in that situation. If I hadn't been an experienced rider, I would be dead. go to the MSF and take the courses too. They are good for preparing you for bad situations. And, with the way people are with their technology, it is only going to get worse. Please be safe. I won't even ride with people unless they have, at the very least, a jacket, gloves, boots, a helmet, and a pair of jeans. I refuse to watch someone die for the simple fact they couldn't go and drop a few hundred on at least the basic gear. You can drop thousands in a bike, but somehow can't afford riding gear? How does that make sense?
