Robert Johnson did not record for Paramount - nor was ever issued on Paramount. That's a significant reason why you don't own a Robert Johnson on Paramount.
I have used for years liquid super glue. I dab the glue to the edge and slightly flex the record to help the liquid glue descend the crack by capillary action. I then pres as you do on a hard flat surface to let the glue harden. With superglue you have a few seconds so you have to be quick. I think the only difference with your method is that I allow the glue along the length of the crack. Also using a fine abrasive paper of 1000 grit over the crack after the glue has hardened will further reduce the click. The victrola tracking force of about a pound with a fresh needle will clean the grooves of any excess glue.
I don't think Robert Johnson recorded for Paramount. I've only seen Vocalion, Perfect, and Conqueror, which I think are all ARC stencil labels. I think Paramount ended 3 or 4 years before RJ made his first recordings.
I have two late pressing 78s from 1959 that have very minor cracks in the run out groove area (both occurred when my cat jumped on the bed where I took the records out to play then). What do you think is the best way to address those minor cracks? I am inclined to leave them alone, but I don’t want them to spread considering that I probably won’t be able to get other copies of them.
I love that your family is interested and active with your phonograph hobby. I certainly appreciate all of the tips, tricks and how-to guides you offer as well while I learn everything I can about these wonderful antiques.
Love your shows. Very very informative. I just saw the one where you got hit with the mainspring on your arm. That scares me more then anything . Keep the shows coming. Merry Christmas
